No experience with this place but worked as a spinner in Oxford, Maine for years before they closed. Congratulations on your continued support of this oldtime, yet necessary milling that most in the US sold out...GOOD FOR YOU ALL
This place has been there since I was a child but never went in. After checking out there website it's a good thing, it would have been a waste of my time. There prices are outrageous!
I’m doing the 2022 Maine Yarn Cruise and rating all the shops. This shop is pretty far off the beaten path, but the drive is scenic. The shop is on the small side, but all the wool is made on-site. The selection is pretty small, but the yarn is pretty and of very good quality. If you’re in the market for Maine made yarn, this is an obvious stop for you. If you prefer a bigger selection or lower prices, you may wish to keep shopping, as this yarn is rather pricey. Overall, an interesting stop. Too bad they didn’t offer tours of the yarn mill— that would really level up this experience!
Have ordered this wool mail order and online for 40 years and have never found anything better for mittens, hats and vests. Beautiful colors and a good price and value.
I ordered online when I found that they sold bright orange wool for hats for the hunters in the family. Knits up nicely - made 2 adult hats and 1 child’s from the 2 skeins I ordered. I like that my Maine deer hunters will wear hats from local wool. Will visit the shop and mill when we can travel again!
This is where they make all the world Ian from sheep and all the animals that have wool and it's the best down you can buy I go up there quite often this time I bought too much but it's not that expensive and it's 100% it's 100% wool
My husband and I took a tour of this mill last year. It was very interesting to know the history and the process of making yarn. I bought some yarn and made mittens. If open to the public this year I would love to bring others to enjoy the history of this over 100 years of making yarn!!!
I had the opportunity to do the tour at their open house 2016. If you're into crochet an knit, this is the place to visit. I like working with the 2 ply wool. Made hats, a lap throw an afghan and my purse from the crochet kit I purchased there. Very nice folks and very happy I got to meet them. Even my husband was impressed with the tour and asked questions. Thank you!
