Quiet, tranquil, very relaxing. Cabins are spacious, great for families right on the lake. Lots of hikes and great location just over an hour to Acadia and Lubec.

Nice, military recreation center. Quiet lake and campground. Canoe and kayak rentals with life jackets. Good sized bass and pickeral. Cabins are good. Trails are fun. Bring your own food and drinks. Nearest Walmart is over thirty minutes away.

We had a wonderful stay at a cozy cabin on Great Pond. Evenings were cool and perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows by the campfire. We enjoyed watching a chipmunk scurry around and listening to the variety of birds. The lake itself was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, and the perfect backdrop for a getaway.

Great spot to camp. My bf and I stayed 7 nights in a pull thru (across from the bathrooms). Water and Electric only. Dump station next to the bathrooms/showers. W/D ($2 for washer & $1 for dryer). Walked every day to the recreation hall for wifi access, free popcorn, games and kayak/paddleboard rentals. Swim to one of the floating pads or kayak the circumference of Great Pond. Kids loved fishing or catching frogs. Nearest grocery store is in Bangor or Brewer. Airline Brewery has good food and is close by.

I gave myself the night to cool down. From the sheer frustration and crazy day. If you’re in the thick of it. This is not the place for you. Come back when things are mellow and relaxed. There’s no cell service and when you have a lot going on , funeral planning, random car trouble . This isn’t good. Mwr can have you pay for nights you don’t use. I experienced that for the first time here. So if you start having car trouble on a Saturday. And don’t want to break down on a Sunday. So you leave before check in on Saturday. They can charge you. It’s their decision. So if they don’t like you. They will charge you. I don’t recommend this place. Some people here are very hard. You know those people who will speak kindly while being rude . And then talk bad about people the moment they leave… . The lodging is beautiful. The location is too , the people are kind… until something isn’t what they are used to. And they don’t know how to handle it. I’m learning New England mwr is just not it . If you came from Florida, Tennessee, San Diego, Washington state. Mwr is suppose to bring families peace. This place just made me miss the mwrs I have full timed at. Yesterday was a day I should have spent celebrating my son and grieving . Instead so much went wrong . If things are going good or minor problems go here. It’s beautiful , people are kind. Just for me , even when things are good again. I would make a hard pass. It speaks on how you treat people.

I absolutely love this place. It blows my mind how beautiful the cabins are nestled on the serine lake. It's never crowded, there's a huge buffer of woods in between each campsite. Gorgeous sunsets at the lake.

Had a wonderful winter weekend in Cabin #3. Space was clean and kitchen had essentials needed for most. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a crock pot! We had a minor issue upon arrival with water pressure, Judy fixed it very quickly. Small convenience store about 10 minutes away, make sure you have all of your groceries before you arrive! Rec center had pool, air hockey, ping pong, foose ball, DVDs, coffee, tea, popcorn, games, books and puzzles- for free, teens loved it. Ice fishing was great just off shore from cabin. We will hopefully be back in the summer!

Stayed for 6 nights (3 in Yurt 3 & 3 in Yurt 4). Yurt 4 was better for me because it was smaller and closer to the shower and bathroom. The showers and bathrooms were renovated since my last visit and were much better.

A quiet place to get away for the military. They have camper sites, cabins, and brand new chalets you can rent. They also have kayak rentals. If you are military and looking for a quiet place in the middle of nowhere on a quiet pond, this is the place for you.

Great place to get out on the water for fishing or boating. It's a recreation spot for our military. Friendly staff, snacks, drinks, various games

Great Pond can be a lovely place to stay for past and present United States military members. There are three main cabins, a few yurts, and designated spaces for RVs. The cabins come with appliances as well as a fire pit. Most beds there are pleasant, and the blankets are warm. The buildings are more than thirty years old, so certain areas are more worn than others. The shower makes you claustrophobic, and bathroom is sideways..? The environment is calming and peaceful. The various wildlife leaves much to discover, such as eagles, fuzzy caterpillars, monochromic woodpeckers, and maybe even a moose. The earthy fungus grows between the rocks while streams run on the sides. There are no ticks, but there's still mosquitos. There are plenty of activities for everyone. The rec center offers anything from kayaks to craft days. The kayaks or canoes are only twenty dollars for the whole day. There's a swiming area and pinic tables in front of the center. Behind the center, there's a small playground with a ping-pong table, horseshoe, etc. Wifi is available either in the rec center, outside in the front, or behind it.

Just spent a week up at Great Pond with our travel trailer. What an amazing place. Highly recommend boat tour. Dan,the captain and camp host, did an amazing job describing the entire lake. Diana at reception is awesome and friendly. Made our stay enjoyable. Half mile before entering is a great place to buy wood. Airline Brewery is close by and is a great place for food and beverages. Wi-Fi at lodge worked great!!!

Thank you to all our veterans!!! We're free because of your sacrifice!! This camp ground is so beautiful and peaceful!! The price is amazing for our military! Take your family and get away! The atmosphere is awesome, while connecting with other military families!! Thank you again for a great adventure! We have started a yearly family tradition!!

Wish the cabins had queen beds, more pillows and towels, and a half bath. Some of those things are more achievable than others! Staff is very helpful and prices and availability of rental gear was great.

Great mwr rental! The only thing that could make it better would be wifi since the feel is spotty in winter and non existent in summer. One other issue in winter is no available laundry faculty. The coin operated machines are in the bathhouse for the campground which is closed during winter. Made a bit of a challenge for a family of 5. Loved the cabins. Staff a friendly and helpful. Louise in the main lodge did crafts with the kids and was very patient and helpful!

This place is amazing! We stayed for 5 days and had a great time! Camp sites are great and the pond is beautiful with a beach, fishing and an island to explore. We saw eagles when exploring the island! The lodge was great on a rainy day with plenty of games to keep the kids entertained as well as fresh coffee. No cell phone service is the best part! The lodge has WiFi if needed. When you turn down the long road to get there you pass a few houses along the way selling firewood and fresh eggs. Make sure to stop at the log cabin on the left right before you get to the campground for FIREWOOD. It’s name is Partridge Roost and Ernie is the man to see!! For $10 you get a wheelbarrow full of fire pit wood! He’s a super nice guy and will help you load up! When we stopped to get some it was raining and he gave us dry wood instead of the pile in his wheelbarrow by the road. We also stopped at the house with the blue cooler for fresh eggs that were delicious! This was one of the best getaways we have had. Highly recommend it if you like nature and want to slow down and enjoy your time with family!

Absolutely a beautiful area. Nature is abundant. Area is clean, wild and spacious. Services there are amazing. Military discount, friendly family-like staffing, and the cabins are luxurious! The only downside is the cell phone service and internet... But that is very sequential at best... No issues as long as folks know where you are going and estimate how long you will be there. Overall, 5 ⭐ all the way! Remember, you bring food items in, you take the trash out and not leave on ground etc.

I love Great Pond! We ice fish there a lot every winter. The lodge is fantastic and the people that work there are always really friendly.

My daughter and I have been here about a week now. The staff here is amazing and the scenery is just awesome. The place is limited to military and dod, I find that makes most of the visitors easy to get along with. I feel at home here. I will be making an annual vacation here for certain! The only downside is cell coverage, is spotty at best and nonexistent at the rv sites and primitivecamp sites. The office does have wifi though and coffee in the morning. If you qualify to stay here I highly recommend it.

Great location. A hidden gem in Maine, that the locals want to keep a secret. But. I can't not share this awesome hide-a-way. Friendly people, awesome conversation, and lots of activities. They have all the gear you need at very fair rental prices. No need to pack all that bulky gear. Whether you come here summer or winter, this place is amazing.

Very remote location. Be sure to take all your food. State roads very bumpy. After you arrive beautiful location. May not have cell phone or internet connection. Country store has free internet.

100% amazing place! Great memories made and plans to make many more! Newer cabins are gorgeous. Older cabins are totally fine too. Yurts are a cool experience. Bath houses cleaned multiple times a day. Staff very friendly.

This place is incredible. We are so fortunate to be able to enjoy and experience the facility and the beautiful area. The wonderful old log cabins and new chalets. The lake and woods. Great place to unplug and unwind!

Beautiful setting, easy access, pretty clean. Extended family from all over converged in Tumbledown, a nice cabin. We added some gorilla tape to screens to keep the hummingbird-sized 'squitos out. The 4 yr old slipped on the stairs and fell--no railing and the skid strips don't extend across the width. Found other folks' clothing in a bedroom, no bedding on hideabeds, and the warped floor of the hallway created a Fun House effect. If you like real cookware, take your own. Lots of aluminum and floridecoated ware. 2 chocolates left out overnight had tiny teeth marks, but we saw no rodent critters. Other visitors were great, Judy was good but not there after we checked in.. One lady INSISTED we bring her a mat someone before us had left in our cabin, 9 times she harangues us to do her job, and she needed it before they closed at 7. She had a few other rude, personal comments to make as well. We are easy going folks and don't usually complain about staff, but that woman needs some social skills! The beach has very shallow water and is great for small kids; boat and toy rentals are reasonable, but buy firewood from the stand before you get there and save a buck. Bald eagles, crawdads, fish, bats etc visible. Playground better for older kids. Nice hiking. Check out the tombstone. Watch the sun set. Take the free pontoon boat tour. Wear sunscreen and bug spray . Wake up early and fish.

Great place to go fishing, the staff in their store are very helpful and friendly. The restrooms were emaculant. Best fresh worms and the prices are 👍. Very clean enviroment. Free to get in and a beautiful veiw from all around the lake and the most beautiful sunset on the water. Cheap price rentals on canoes and paddle boats for the day. Another great day with my daughter n friends!
