First time going to brunch here and was highly impressed. Our server, Emmy, was fanatic-super friendly, quick, and really attentive without being overbearing. They made us feel welcome and made my entire morning. Great service all around!! Not to mention the food was delicious.

Me and my fiance went for a dinner, and were extremely disappointed. It was a nice quiet atmosphere at first, but shortly after being seated things changed. The waitstaff was an extremely loud, unprofessional, group of young women. Our waitress in particular was very snarky, sarcastic and extremely loud, and that was when she would pay us any attention. She would check in on the tables on each side of us while ignoring us and walking past. We honestly felt neglected by our server. We ordered a burger and a Cesar Salad. Someone else brought our food out and our waitress thanked her but never checked to see if we were all set. We waited and waited for her to check in on us (mainly because we wanted to order something else) but even so, the thought counts. When we got our burger it had one piece of bacon on it, no seasoning and was honestly wimpy. The people were well dressed and it was set up very nicely but the professionalism was nowhere to be found. Honestly, the buss boy would get my tip if I could give it to him. I can not express how let down, and disappointed I am. Overall we had high hopes but were quickly brought down with this terrible experience. I have probably only ever written one other review to a restaurant in my life so that says a lot.

Everything about this hotel is excellent except for the hotel itself. The staff are great and the location is gorgeous for a wedding or event. However, the building itself is ancient and poorly maintained. The rooms are uncomfortable and show their age. Nothing about this place is luxury. The event planner Chelsea is amazing! And the two weddings I've attended here were very nice. But the experience of actually staying the night here was unpleasant and not worth it.

Back after Decades and still the wonderful, cozy location, serving delicious food with a great view. One of my favourite places to return!

The evening staff was wonderful. The room was gorgeous with an electric fire place and views for days. Breakfast the next morning was put away before I got downstairs at 8:30. The morning front desk person was not nearly as nice as the night before, so I went and found breakfast elsewhere.

Great staff (friendly welcoming, offered to help us out with bags while leaving) Historically charming (do not confuse with a luxury stay, it’s about the history) Continental breakfast (this is what it is, a bit too much with instructions though, sit here not here and clean up after yourselves. We were scared to leave a crumb. Lol why didn’t they leave us a sponge and cleaner to wash our area?) To the owners whom I assume was the folks at the desk at checkout, we know it was Sunday and you may possibly be more invested in the Sunday Brunch breakfast funds coming later in the day than the one night stayers on an off season time. Just don’t be so fooled cause we were checking out your establishment for a future event we anticipate. Always, always ask your customers how their stay was before they leave. Treat them how you trained your staff to treat them and you should be good. Thank You

We had a great stay at the Lucerne Inn. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and our room was clean. There is a restaurant, we were unable to eat there, but the menu looks great. It is called Ryan's Pub. The bathroom was very nicely renovated and we had a good sleep. Definitely worth checking out if you have the opportunity. I uploaded a couple pics of the menu although we did not get to eat there.

OOM INFESTED WITH BUGS!!|Spent a night in room 27 over Columbus/Indigenous Peoples weekend. It was supposed to be a 2 night stay. However when I returned to my room Sat evening I found it infested with flies! I killed 4 with the tissue box in the room, then called the front desk to ask for another room. I was told they were full and couldn't move. More bugs were found in the room so I called the front again and ask for that night to be refunded as I wasn't comfortable staying. The very nice young lady at reception called the owner and informed me that he was willing to offer a $65 credit for Sat, because I stayed Fri and not had any complaints about insects the first night!!!|I have included pictures of room 27 and its extra inhabitants, on the ceiling in the bedroom and bathroom, as well as dead on the rug.|I actually had to dispute the charge on my credit card because the owner didn't feel that flies were a valid reason to cut my stay short.|I will add that the young lady at the desk was very sweet and as understanding as she could be, as she was obviously in a very awkward position.

Will not return. Poor food, front desk service, asked the bartender about making a drink & he could not be bothered to look up, loud room by the highway with traffic starting at 4:30am , house keeping came in twice to clean room even with our NO SERVICE sign on door, unacceptable & only cleaned half of room!!! Had to climb 3 flights of stairs at 11:30 pm when we checked in and had to move tables/chairs in the way that was blocking the room...not good. The hotel is pretty from the outside but that's it.

Not great. Upon arrival there were at least 10 big flies in the room. We killed them. There isn’t a fridge on the room; the front desk will keep you refrigerated items upon request. The front light didn’t work, and though we reported it, it was never fixed. The place is 20 minutes to the nearest town in case you want food or drink. The bed was comfortable but seemed smaller than a queen. The room was dark enough. The shower pressure was not the best. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The restaurant is worth a stop here. There are incredible views from inside as well as high food and drinks. You can tell the chef takes extra care with everything.

We stayed at the Lucerne Inn for my niece’s wedding. The wedding planner was wonderful. The venue location was stunning. The weather for the wedding could not have been better beautiful bright sunny day. The hotel itself subpar. I believe at one time it was a luxury hotel. I found it lackluster and poor quality. Several small details, rollaway beds stored in hallways old furniture stacked up in hallways even the rooms were clean, but very poor quality for the price of the room. My bed was broken and every time I turned over it banged on the wall and the faucet in the tub would not stop running. The rehearsal dinner was a fiasco and the wedding meal it’s was acceptable, but not great. It was a nice hotel, not luxury. even the owner had little care with the concerns we had. Especially the rehearsal dinner. The menu was One page congratulating the bride with no prices. We asked if it was à la carte or three course meal as no prices were on the menu. The waitress said everybody orders, one of each appetizer entrée and dessert. Thinking it was going to be smaller portions and one set price. Not the case way too much food. When we got the bill was itemized and seriously overpriced. Spoke to waitress, she said sorry she was wrong. Owner said this is the way it is. I would not recommend staying here as a romantic getaway Or a destination vacation it would be a one and done hotel for me. The location is beautiful and the grounds and golf coarse wonderful but I was very disappointed with the hotel I had wanted to experience for many years.

Great location with amazing views! The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and the free breakfast was a nice bonus. The room was spacious, though the bed was smaller than a standard queen and could have been more comfortable. You could also hear footsteps from the room above.

When I learned we would be attending a wedding and staying two nights at a four-star, dog-friendly, storied wedding venue and hotel nestled into the peaceful Maine countryside beside a lake in early Fall, I anticipated a quaint, quiet location brimming with hospitality and where we would walk our dog surrounded by the changing leaves next to the water. ||Upon arriving at the Lucerne Inn, my anticipation was immediately replaced with disappointment. The Inn is situated directly on a very loud 55 mph highway with no lake in sight. My partner was turned away by a gruff owner while trying to get the room key an hour early (which we thought we had prearranged without issue). Maybe it was just a fluke. Surely, based on the glowing reviews, once we got to the room, we’d start to be impressed, right? The room was spacious and clean and the AC unit worked spectacularly well. However, those are basics that make a hotel minimally viable. ||The pillows were extremely thin and lacked support, even doubled up. Every time someone moved upstairs, something in the ceiling gave off a high-pitched squeak that sounded like the chirp when your smoke detector battery is dying. Laminated notes littered surfaces around the room: “The towel warmer gets HOT.” “Leave tips for housekeeping at the front desk, not in the room.” (A bit sus!) ||The dated bathroom (save for the new tiling in the shower) had a tiny, child-sized toilet and a shower head that produced barely more than a strong drip. One of the lights didn’t work, the fan was ancient, and the floor tiles were cracked. I suppose the provided towel warmer is a nice amenity, but I was scared to try it. ||No fridge (!!), a computer monitor-sized TV, and a fireplace with more instructions than I was comfortable with. Need something? Call the front desk from your mobile since no phone is provided. We had received a text from the hotel before check in that any needs could be texted to the front desk. That’s convenient! We tried that upon arrival and didn’t hear back…for two days. I walked up to reception to ask for one extra towel and was told housekeeping would bring one by. They never did. ||Since we went back to the room several times throughout the wedding reception to check on the dog, I should note that if you prefer quiet, make sure you aren’t booked to stay at the Lucerne during a wedding. Though they do end receptions promptly at 10 pm, you will be forced to endure the noise before that hour. ||They smartly have the dog-friendly rooms on the first floor in the back, near the station in the yard that has poop bags and a bin for disposal. No sarcasm here. This is well-designed. Our first few trips out were pleasant enough. As soon as it got dark, however, we realized a major flaw. There isn’t a single light in the pet relief area. I had to rely on the small amount of light from my phone’s flashlight, which became a challenge when trying to hold the leash and the phone and pick up after the dog. If the owners take one thing away from my review, let it be the suggestion to add a few motion-sensing lights out there.||The free breakfast is sad (pictured) or there is brunch on Sundays for just under $40 per person. We passed, desperate for quiet and a comfortable bed after two sleepless nights at the Lucerne.

The Inn is lovely but it is over 200 years old so it has some issues but overall it is a great place to stay. We stayed two nights, booked separately. The first stay was in the lower level and it had a towel warmer which was so neat. The second room was on the second level. Both rooms were acceptable. The only thing I would say is if the owners could find a way to add storage to the bathroom or near it would be great. It is hard to find a place to put your toiletries l, especially for a woman. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there if we were in the area. We liked the second floor room better. The continental breakfast was a bit different than what I expected but it did the job! They cinnamon swirl and blueberry coffee cakes were yummy! It is self serve and both mornings we had fresh fruit too! One last thing I would say is the flowers at this property are beautiful! The guy that takes care of the plants has so much pride in them and he should, they are so pretty! Also, having dinner there is a must! The chef puts out amazing food!

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointed – Especially on a Special Occasion I rarely leave negative reviews, but after multiple upsetting experiences, I feel compelled to share. My parents have been treated poorly at this restaurant several times, consistently being directed to sit in the bar area despite requesting regular dining seating. The most recent incident was especially heartbreaking -it was their 56th wedding anniversary. They called three times in advance to confirm a table and were told to arrive at 4 PM. After driving over two hours, they arrived only to be told that dinner service didn’t begin until 5 PM. The staff was dismissive and showed no concern for the confusion or the occasion. It was clear they couldn’t have cared less whether my parents were served or not. This wasn’t the first time we’ve had issues. One Thanksgiving, the owner (husband) was incredibly rude to our entire family, and it was only thanks to his wife’s kindness that we gave the place another chance. Sadly, this last experience was the final straw. My parents left and had a wonderful dinner at Helen’s (in Ellsworth), which I highly recommend if you’re looking for a place that values its guests and treats them with care. It’s deeply upsetting that such a special day was ruined by negligence and indifference. I hope this review helps others avoid similar disappointment.

Stayed here 38 years ago and as they say you can't go back. The highway they are on is now busy through the night and trucks pick up at 5 am. Our room had some road view so we had a noisy night. Our bed was very hard and hard to adjust to. The room was quaint and as with current times, the fireplace replaced with a very fake looking insert. Grounds look nice and appear they looking for weddings and events. We didn't have dinner as restaurant and pub closed on Monday so no dining available. Breakfast is continental and you have the same or better at a comfort inn. No one around in the morning at all. Eat, drop the key and leave.

This is a slightly below-average Inn. Breakfast is slim, no decaf, boxed cereals and some fruit. No fresh bread or rolls or toast. We stayed several nights, one of which was a Saturday. BEWARE. There was a wedding on the Saturday night, and the band played loudly and enthusiastically until exactly 9:59 pm. There are no rooms distant from the wedding venue.

This was a really cute spot to stay in on our anniversary trip to Bar Harbor. The room had everything we needed. The view was great! It is a decent distance from Bar Harbor so an easy drive into town with lots of cool spots to check out along the way. Quick drive into Bangor as well. Everything was really clean and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating! Gorgeous property.

This is ultimately the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. This was our fourth attempt to get a decent meal at this restaurant! They took our reservation and when we got there, they made us sit in the pub. We do not sit in bar rooms! They did not tell us that the dining room wasn’t open until 5 PM. This is not the first time we have had a bad experience. This is our fourth and last experience at this horrible restaurant. We kept thinking it would get better! They put us in the bar room before and when we asked to be moved they had us facing a wall. David, the owner is nasty and insulting. We would never recommend this to anyone ever to eat there or sleep there.

we stayed her for two nights in the B suite.. loved it.. the view of the pool and the lake were sooo nice. We played golf across the street which was challenging.. but fun. We had dinner on the deck and sunset.. It was warm enough to go in the pool and then lounge by the pool. We had their continental breakfast which was fine for us. The service was top notch. Plan to come back again the October when the leaves will be at their peak.. play golf and relax and dine in their dining room with admiring their great view of the valley.

MY HUSBAND AND I CHECKED IN ON AUGUST 17, 2025. WE WERE GREETED BY A VERY PLEASANT YOUNG LADY, HOWEVER, SHE NEVER SHARED HER NAME. WHEN I BOOKED THE ROOM, I WAS INFORMED THAT WE WOULD BE IN “OUR BRAND NEW BUILDING”, AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO WALK UP THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS, AS THERE WASN’T AN ELEVATOR. WE WERE FINE WITH THAT, BUT WERE NEVER TOLD THAT THE BUILDING”, WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE MAIN BUILDING, AND WAS A SHORT WALK ACROSS A DRIVEWAY. THE BUILDING WAS ACTUALLY, A RENOVATED HOUSE. OUR ROOM WAS BEAUTIFUL, HOWEVER, THERE WAS A SIGN NEAR THE THERMOSTAT SAYING THAT WE COULD NOT SET IT ANY LOWER THAN 68*, OTHERWISE IT WOULD FREEZE THE SYSTEM!!! I PHONED THE FRONT DESK, (ON MY OWN IPHONE, AS THE ROOM DID NOT HAVE A PHONE), TO QUESTION/COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS; FOR THE PRICE OF THE ROOM, WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO, AT THE VERY LEAST, HAVE CONTROL OVER THE TEMPERATURE! I WAS TOLD, BY THE SAME EMPLOYEE THAT CHECKED US IN, THAT SHE WOULD CHECK WITH HER BOSS, WHEN HE RETURNED. WE NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. |WE HAD BOOKED TWO NIGHTS, HOWEVER, LATE IN THE DAY ON THE 18TH, WE HAD TO LEAVE UNEXPECTEDLY, FOR A SERIOUS, FAMILY MATTER. I SPOKE TO THE FRONT DESK, AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, AND, COULD WE, POSSIBLY, BE REIMBURSED. SHE PROMPTLY ANSWERED NO, BUT SAID THAT SHE WOULD SPEAK TO HER “BOSS”. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, HE CAME ON THE PHONE, WITH A TONE OF VOICE, BORDERING, ON RUDE. WHEN ASKED, HE INFORMED ME, THAT THEY COULD NOT REIMBURSE US, AS IT WAS “TOO LATE IN THE DAY TO ALLOW THE ROOM TO BE BOOKED”!! I REINFORCED THAT THIS WAS A FAMILY EMERGENCY, WHICH DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. HE DID PHONE BACK, AFTER I DID HANG UP ABRUPTLY. HE SAID THAT THEY WOULD WAVE THE COST OF OUR DINNER THE NIGHT BEFORE, WHICH WAS ABOUT A THIRD OF THE COST OF THE ROOM. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THE BOOKING OF A ROOM IS NONREFUNDABLE, HOWEVER, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED MUCH MORE PROFESSIONALLY, AND EMPATHETICALLY. |WE DO NOT PLAN TO RETURN AND I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THE LUCERNE INN TO FRIENDS OR FAMILY.

Friendly Service! Mike such a great waiter - even shared the haunted history about the Inn! Restaurant is certainly a must-try. Ordered the fench onion soup & clam chowder; crab topped haddock, almond halibut, to include, side house salad & lastly blueberry pie & brownie sundae ALL absolutely delicious.

This historic inn was pretty, but disappointing. An inn of this caliber comes with expectations. The Lucerne did not meet them. The room was huge and clean, but the bathroom was lacking. The water pressure was nonexistent, but we could have lived with that if we had adequate supplies. For a three day stay we had two towels, one tiny bar of soap and one tiny shampoo and conditioner set. Three days! The maid never serviced our room. No empty wastebaskets - no clean towels - no replenishment of supplies. We made our own bed, which was not very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, but that’s not enough. They need to up their game.

We stayed here two nights as we traveled to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The rooms were spacious with recently updated bathroom fixtures. The A/C worked well. We enjoyed a quiet stay, quick check in/check out, and a nice view out of our window. As a chronic overpacker, carrying luggage upstairs was the only downside, ha. If we head back up this way, we plan to stay here again.

What a lovely place! The true standout here is the service—the staff were incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. It’s rare to experience such attentive and personable hospitality. The rooms were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, and we really enjoyed the food in the restaurant and bar—delicious with a classy, old-school vibe. All in all, a fantastic stay. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Wedding venue/scenery is beautiful but that and the dogs up front are the only good things about this place. These beds are the most uncomfortable things I've EVER slept on; breakfast was extremely disappointing being only melon, yogurt, or Jimmy Dean frozen breakfast sandwiches; bridal suite was incredibly tiny and didn't even have full length mirror, plus the porch was shared with another "bridal suite"; broken furniture in multiple rooms; had to walk through dining area where folks were eating to get to some rooms, other rooms you had to navigate the place like a fun house to get to. I could keep going but overall you're better off admiring the view on the drive by than actually staying a night here.

We had our wedding at the Lucerne in October 2024 and loved every minute of it! Not only is the venue itself beautiful, the staff were beyond helpful in every aspect, especially Chelsey our coordinator! She answered all of my questions no matter how dumb the question was. The food and drinks were beyond amazing, and the serving staff was amazing. If we could do it all over again here we would!

This is a very nice and clean space to stay outside of Bangor. It's on the way to Bar Harbor and northern points like New Brunswick. It has decent views and old fashioned Maine rooms. Its short on local amenities- its on the road between bar harbor and ellsworth and there is little nearby except the golf course across the street. There is a small outdoor swimming pool
