We've moved a few times in the last handful of years and are always hoping to find a good mechanic close to where we live but usually have to end up making the trip back to where we felt comfortable. Thankfully, after moving to Freeport in October of 2023 we found Yarmouth Auto Care. They are honest, good at what they do and will get you in a lot faster than other places. If you've doubted the shop you've been going to for any reason, I'd give Yarmouth Auto Care a try. They are fair, quick and honest.

On a winter trip to Freeport, my Toyota Sienna's water pump decided to finally blow on a Friday. AAA towed me to a different shop in Yarmouth, but they couldn't fit me in. An unnamed gentleman there pointed me just down the road to Yarmouth Auto Care. The owner fit me in to take a look and diagnose, and said they could have it done on Monday, their next business day. He called a local taxi service to get me to a rental car agency so I could get back to my kids at the school they were visiting for the weekend. True to his word, the work was done on Monday and we came back from the Keene, NH area to pick up. I am absolutely pleased with the quality of work, the cost, and the owner's flexibility in getting my van in and me back to my kids and home. He rescued all of us that weekend.

Excellent visit to Yarmouth Auto Care where I thought I needed a brake job along with the fact that my car was not navigating correctly..Nick was very professional..extremely honest..told me I had a lot more time before brakes needed, but found cause of the problem I felt when driving. I needed front tires which he ordered and were not delivered, when he was told they would be, so he went out of his way to look around locally and drove to get them and put them on immediately. Checked out everything else meticulously. Very kind..very honest and he has made a continuing customer of me. Excellent, caring and very honest service. Thank you, immensely, Nick!
My 2004 Highlander started making a horrendous racket as I entered the E Main St/Rt 1 intersection on a Saturday afternoon. Sounded catastrophic. I limped down to Sunoco/ Yarmouth Auto Care. Though his door was already locked for the day, Nick heard me knock on the door and came out to listen to my car. He put me up on his lift and diagnosed and fixed my issue in a matter of minutes. He was brilliant and kind, efficient and affordable. Those of us who drive older cars count on great mechanics like Nick to keep us on the road. He’s wonderful!
I was recommended to Yarmouth Auto Care and am super pleased with the quality of customer service. I called to get my car inspected and few things fixed on a Monday and they got me in that Thursday (other garages were saying it would be at least a week). They made the car drop off in the morning seamless and completed the job at a better price than any of the surrounding garages in the area! Not for nothing, they were there at 6:30am for me to drop my keys off which made dropping off before work VERY convenient. Grateful to have a reliable place to bring my car!
Yarmouth Auto Care is a great shop with great staff who have the customer’s best interest in mind. They were quick to get me scheduled for new tires. When I came to pick up my van they let me know of an issue that wasn’t critical, but should be fixed in the next six months to a year. I appreciate that attention to detail, and gives me the ability to save and schedule to get that work done. I have already recommended you to a couple people needing work and will continue to do so!

While driving to Boothbay my alternator went in Yarmouth and my car was disabled. The towing company Hewitts Auto Body recommended Yarmouth Auto Care. Nick was fantastic and had me on my way the next day. I couldn’t be happier with their service and their prices were fair.Thanks for getting me back in the road quickly.
Came through during an emergency! In the middle of a 6 hour road-trip with a week's worth of luggage and two tired kids, our car broke down outside of Yarmouth. All the other auto repair places had already closed for the day, but I caught the new owner, Nick just before he was locking up.
He agreed to look at our car, diagnose quickly, and help us come up with a plan: leave it overnight for a fast turnaround the following morning. Happy to report he stayed true to his word, and had us on our way by noon the next day. He was polite, honest, and able to fit in a sizable job on zero notice. Would recommend!
I just got my car serviced by Yarmouth Auto Care and couldn't be happier. I used them years ago for several years and was always happy, but when I bought a new car, I thought it made sense to have the dealer I bought it from do the service. That worked okay for many years, despite the 45-minute trip each way, but recently I had an experience with the dealer that reduced my trust in their competence (they put in only half the oil required at my last routine service) so I decided to "shop local" again.
So when I needed a brake job and an oil change, this time I went back to Yarmouth Auto Care. They got me in within a few days, did the service perfectly, and I'd guess I paid about half of what I would have at the dealer. They were friendly, competent, fast, and reasonably priced.
Another plus is that there's a great little coffee shop a two-minute walk away, so rather than Keurig psuedo-coffee and a granola bar from the dealer's waiting room, I got myself a cappuccino and a toasted bagel in a cozy cafe while I worked remotely on their WiFi.
Did a great job! Got me on the schedule pretty quickly and completed the repair in less time than expected. I asked Nick for his thoughts about whether to keep my 2012 car going, and I appreciated his helpful and specific feedback.
Absolute life savers! I'm working in the area for the summer but I'm from Ohio. Did great fast work getting my truck running again within the day. Also didn't try to squeeze anything else out of me fixed what was broken and sent me on my way.
This is my very first time (reluctantly) saying anything negative online about a service provider, and it's simple and straightforward:

Avoid - created an unnecessary safety risk for us. Had thought they were reasonably good and had a good amount of work done by them until the experience described below.
We live nearby, so we've had work on a number of our cars done. We brought our car in for road noise we suspected was wheel bearings. They agreed and repaired the left side bearings. I was appreciative when they said only the left side was needed, and took it as a sign of integrity that they didn't take the opportunity to replace both sides.
A couple months later, the noise was back, louder than before. Took it back to them to check, and they said there was nothing wrong with the bearings, but that the tires were wearing unevenly, so it might be that.
Noise continued to get louder. Because we hadn't quite trusted them after this interaction, we'd started going to Freeport Auto (they are excellent, couldn't recommend highly enough). So, we took it there. They confirmed it was the left side bearings, which the replaced, and the noise is now gone. Seems pretty clear that the people in Yarmouth didn't check when we brought the car back to them to check, looking for an alternate explanation instead.
Their prices are a little high and they aren't the friendliest bunch, but, before this experience, I'd thought they were at least honest and competent (and convenient). I guess anyone could have a bad day, but bad bearings shouldn't be shrugged off.
One of my tires was leaking air badly, so I pulled into Yarmouth Auto (which is the closest gas station/garage to my office) and asked them to put my donut on so I could drive home. The labor cost $15, which I thought was reasonable. I took my car to a tire shop for new tires the following day, and they told me the lug nut had been screwed on so tightly that there was no way to get it off without breaking the lug. I then took it to another tire shop, which told me the same thing. Repairing this cost me $82 and I wasn't able to drive home for Christmas on the donut. When I went back to Yarmouth Auto with the itemized bill for parts and labor in hand, the owner told me he didn't feel he was responsible for refunding my $15, let alone my $82 for the damage his guys caused. I'll never go back.
This place is a joke. I brought my Jetta to them last year and explained what I needed done. A week later I call to see how it was going and the owner said he never received any instructions on the car so they never worked on it. Since I was paying for a rental... that was a week of payments for nothing. I have never been treated worse than this place. Stay far, far away.
