Wonderful Fall Harvest Festival. Quick tour. Games for kids. Wonderful Arts and crafts.

Interesting story of faith. This is the last Shaker village in the world with the last three living "Shakers", one Brother and two Sisters.

I have driven by a few times, but never stopped in until today. Thankfully it was open. You can purchase tickets to see everything, for $20, but today we just looked at the stores and upstairs of the Boys store. Dont forget to go upstairs even if you dont purchase tickets. Its free and educational..

We really enjoyed the tour, the museum, the gift shop and the antique shop. We purchased several antique Shaker items, and were provided with Certificates of Authenticity. As Shaker collectors, that was very valuable to us. We have been to several Shaker Communities, and stayed at two, but have never been able to purchase antiques, or visit a community where people are still practicing Shakers. Very nice experience.

Beautiful setting. Learned some things I didn't know. i.e. there is such a thing as a Penwipe Doll, for dabbing ink pen nibs. Photos aren't allowed in the buildings so i don't have a sample, but it's a little doll with a skirt made of folded felt pieces. This is a great place to get fresh herbs too.

A great place to see and understand Shaker history, very knowledgeable team giving plenty of information.

What a great place! Whether you are local or here on a vacation I suggest stopping in. There is a museum with all kinds of cool things and good information about how the shakers lived. The gift shop is amazing! I went during the Wabanaki craft fair so it was very crowded. I will definitely go back again when I can spend more time to look thoroughly at things.

Well now... what a trip THIS was. Much enjoyment was found here, finally. To learn about the beginnings of the village, and sister Mildred with all the little children and their clothes and such was quite a treat that is sure to be thought back on for years to come. Be sure to go upstairs in the lower building. Do not miss the 6 minute audio story, with sister Mildred's song. It will not disappoint.

We visited on Open Farm day. Lots of activities, food and crafts. Fun day with our grandkids.

We went on open farm day. I expected to stay for an hour or so. We were there for the entire day. We went on 3 wagon rides, toured the grounds several times and hung out with some super friendly sheep. This is a must visit site. We will be back.

Tips: Sunday is their Sabbath so around noon best don't be there. They come to worship but were very nice to us. Visit across the street! There's a complete herbal remedies garden labeled! The whole place is so very idyllic. The view is worth the trip. It's a working farm! Also go visit Sabbathday lake nearby and Pineland Farms. We loved this day all just 30 minutes from Portland, Maine .

Out of the way Maine. Decided to drop by. 1800 acres and only 2 Shakers left so this place is going to be a run down waste. NOT! Wonderful preserved throw back to 200 years. If you like history don’t miss. Cool exhibits. Worth the visit if you have the time.

Fascinating way of life for the Shakers. Enjoyed walking through the village and herb garden. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Buildings gave a glimpse of what life would have been like when it was a busy community. Just off the main road, and worth checking out. Free

Such a beautiful place. We went with our Girl Scout troop and other troops. The girls got to help plant herbs, see where they are dried and got to make a mixture of herbs to make tea at home.

Take a step back in time!! This is a beautiful place! They have a wonderful store to buy their handmade items, farm animals for your viewing and petting pleasure and they offer the best classes!! You have to visit at least once...if you do, you'll definitely go back!

I finally made it to the Shaker Christmas Fair and it was so very worth it! So many treasures from baked good to Shaker crafts and gorgeous wool! I won't miss this fair again.

This is the last active shaker community, with at present 3 shakers. We had a tour of some of the buildings with a friendly and informative guide, learning about the shaker history and way of life. The small village has a beautiful setting with gorgeous views that we enjoyed in the sunshine, especially the very lovely highland cattle!

Great working Quaker farm. General store & farm is great. Working and living farm. The lot of folks who work here also live here. Few travel from outside, but small and cozy. A must for families looking for summer fun/education. Guided tours. Relatively cheap day out.

It's beautiful and informative for sure. The goods they sell are lovely and some are truly unique. However the signage is lacking so that one isn't sure where to go or what parts are available to see free or that you pay and what type of tours are best for your party. Without explanations of the types of tours it's hard to know what to purchase and the price seems high for a quick peek around a self guided room. A map would be very useful!! Also there were workshops taking place but with no indication of wether they were open to the public, part of the tours or not. Still, a gorgeous setting in beautiful Maine!

Sabbathday Lake offers an authentic look into the last active Shaker community in the world. The Shakers are a fascinating denomination. There is lots to be learned about the Shaker way of life and history here. We took the tour and our guide Don was informative and friendly. It was great to see some of the actual work and living spaces that The Shakers once used. I was blown away by the blue paint used in the meeting house. It was apparently made from a mixture which used blueberries as the color. I can’t remember the exact date, but I’m pretty sure it was applied over 200 years ago! It still looked great, Benjamin Moore should try tapping into that formula.

Surely worth a visit. A good look at into how our people lived thru the years

museum has very interesting history to share about shakers and the impact they had with their inventions - a very Serene place with friendly staff members

A perfect place to go if you love beautiful country settings, apple orchards, home spun things and to learn more about the Shakers. The staff here and the two remaining Shakers are beautiful people. I love it here! Couldn't get much better than this!

Fabulous tour. We were fortunate enough to get a private tour. The tour includes the original meeting house and the ladies home. The history is wildly interesting. At the time of this writing, there were only 2 living Shakers left in the world . . . and they are both here. This is unfortunately where the Shakers will official pass into history.

Incredible site. Great historical value, highly informative and impressive. The staff were very kind and helpful. We had a great time walking around and admiring the idyllic appeal and antiquarian legacy. Will definitely recommend to others as a visit.

Shaker Village. Beautiful 225 year old buildings located in original religious colony. Won't go into Shaker beliefs and traditions here. You can Google them yourselves. Beautiful country setting, heirloom plants, herb mixes, heritage cookbooks, jams and souvenirs for sale. Tours are $10 for adults. Includes all buildings, museum and Shaker burial ground.

Totally not worth $7.00, I couldn't take the walking tour (7.00) as it was another 40 minutes before it started. I opted for the museum. It was one room divided up. Had VERY few artifacts and some pictures. Took me less 10 minutes (and only that because I read EVERY paragraph by EVERY photo). Store is uninteresting. Without the walking tour not allowed to even walk down the street. Don't know about the walking tour but the museum was NOT worth the money OR the drive.
