What amazing crew, I’ve noticed there’s some amazing chemistry in that building everyone just works together so nicely.
And the honest feedback and honest prices!
GREAT JOB, CESC!!Jul 14, 2026 -
I don’t ever leave reviews but felt compelled to leave a review of this establishment. Recently I moved to cape I decided to bring my car here to have the brakes inspected and get an inspection sticker. They originally called me and said they’d recommend full calipers, rotors, and pads for $2000. I’ve never heard of a $2000 brake job so was hesitant. They recommended at a minimum doing all the pads and rotors (front and rear). I asked them to do what was necessary for the sticker and they ended up doing just the front rotors and pads even though they advised me to do the rears as well. They charged me $650, which felt steep for aftermarket front pads and rotors. I opted to pass on the rears, as the Toyota dealer using OEM parts quoted me $585 before tax. You are essentially paying more for worse products.
Today I dropped my car off at the Toyota dealership, and it was a brake caliper housing kit that was making a noise which needed repairing. They said the brake pads in the rear were above 6mm and very healthy. I am out the door for $220 I would not trust or recommend this shop to anyone.Jul 13, 2026 -
I can't recommend this shop enough. My car was damaged in a parking lot and I had to pay for the damages myself or face an increase in my insurance premiums. The first estimate I got was beyond ridiculous. Moodys estimate was less by 3 times. They even found me a used tail light to save money. The car looks beautiful, was done on time, and everyone was SO nice and professional. If you need a collision repair,go there first, and save yourself money and aggravation.

This was my 2nd year going here for my required state inspection and you could say that I am a slow learner.
Getting a vehicle passed reminds me of watching Seinfeld and standing in front of "The Soup Nazi" and being denied.
I understand the technician has his license on the line but part of me feels denials are also a way to generate $$ for the shop.
Needless to say I went somewhere else and my vehicle passed with no issues. Who needs soup anyway?Mar 17, 2026 -
Cape service is absolutely fabulous. Ther staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Matt the manager has done a great job since taking over. Ricky and Rosa are always welcoming. It's like the neighborhood barbershop. Very warm and friendly. The technicians always find the problem and fix it the first time. They are all so professional.

I seriously think these guys are geniuses! They have helped me with the most basic to the most unusual crises with our Town and Country. They have found pesky little nuisances and corrected them and detected things inside the engine I never would have known about, and they'll tell you what's urgent and what's not. They have the techs that know how to interpret the lights and messages your car is mysteriously putting out. They get the parts quickly and get right to work on your car.

I am reluctant to write a glowing review, since this may mean the shop will get to busy and not be able to accommodate everyone in such a timely manner. That being this shop is fantastic very accommodating very helpful just great

Had a great experience here. I dropped my car off and they diagnosed it within a couple hours. They explained the problem clearly, gave me a fair estimate, and had me back on the road in no time. Would definitely recommend.

I serendipitously got a flat tire right in front of this place about an hour after they closed for the day. Someone happened to be there still and came out, let me know I could keep my car there and took a quick look at my tire. Despite being booked out the next day, they still squeezed me in and fixed/replaced my tires. Prices felt fair and the staff is really knowledgeable and earnestly helpful. I'm happily heading back to get some more work done on my car and would highly recommend this business.

I brought in my 2017 MINI Cooper Clubman for a window repair, tire rotation, state inspection sticker, and an oil change, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Everything was done efficiently and professionally. They kept me informed throughout the process, and my car was ready right on time. It’s running smoother than ever, and the repaired window works perfectly. Fair pricing and friendly staff—definitely recommend for anyone needing quality car service!

Long time customer of shop under previous owners and thrilled to find that the shop is continuing to offer great service by good people at reasonable prices. They have graciously helped me with a couple of minor unexpected issues recently and I’m super impressed by the responsiveness. Also, a nice vibe in the waiting area, which is much appreciated!

We live in Maine in the summer and keep a rickety old Chevy Tahoe there. I was recently visiting family in the dead of winter and the car was having a bunch of weird electrical problems. Ricky and the rest of the crew took care of it very quickly in the midst of blizzard, on a Friday, on very short notice and got me back up and running. Super appreciated the help and can-do attitude. Thanks a million guys!

The Gentlemen at Cape Elizabeth Service Center worked me in when I had an unexpected flat tire, gave me a fine place to sit and wait, were professional, pleasant, and did good work at a fair price. I will certainly visit again. Right next door to the Cookie Jar for good coffee and treats, as well.

Cape Service has been our “go to” with the old owners and the new owners/management were really helpful as well - making sure our older vehicles were safe for our teens and also for the next owners of the vehicle. Thank you!

They quickly diagnosed the problem with our Toyota Highlander and repaired it at a very reasonable price. I’ll definitely be bringing my Lexus there for scheduled maintenance. Recommended.
Note: This is a new owner. Reviews for this business that are a year or more old don’t reflect the work I’m commenting on hereSep 24, 2024 -
Left my vehicle for a state inspection, oil change, and some minor repairs. They called twice to update me on things as they worked. They did a good job and I'm happy to support a local small business.

The measure of a person or a business is not how we perform when everything is perfect, but rather what we do when things do not go as planned. Cape Service kept me in the loop when there was a delay due to a different part being needed. They were friendly, respectful, and efficient. This is my third time visiting this new neighborhood business. Their rates are very reasonable, and the service is top-notch. We are fortunate to have this local gem of a Service Center.

Make sure u bring extra cash or a credit card. Four tires mount and balance and oil change 300$. Nice people. Good conversation while I waited. The previous owners I know well. And it used to be 219$ for the exact same work. So it’s gone up a lot. Drove an hour to keep my business there. But I’ve gotta look elsewhere on account of budget.

Dropped car off for routine inspection. After having unexpected brake work done, I provided missing paperwork (after being told the existing paperwork was sufficient and inspection would pass) but after 3 trips back still do not have inspection sticker.
Jeff (owner) extremely rude over phone and again in person. Definitely will not recommend this shop to others. They need to figure out who the customer is.
Update - I stand behind my original comments (above). Originally was told the paperwork was fine (which it was). Then told brake work was needed to pass inspection. After brake work done, told the paperwork was somehow no longer fine and that inspection failed. "Come back with the updated paperwork and we'll come out and put a sticker on it." Ok.
A few days later returned (2nd visit) with updated paperwork but was told to come back another time. Ok.
And, yes, finally, irate when the owner yelled at me over the phone, and in the waiting area, after car dropped off again (3rd time). Not ok.
Still no sticker.
Sorry, not much tolerance for someone having a bad day, yelling at me over the phone and later in front of their staff and others. It is a small community, but there are many other places to do business with.Aug 08, 2024 -
I can't recommend these guys enough! From the second I walked in there they were super easy to talk to and friendly. They were very flexible with their time. They worked very quickly! The people there made the experience so easy and painless. Please check them out!

We were prepping our trailer for the new camping season when we noticed two tire defects that rendered it undriveable for more than a few blocks. Amazingly, Cape Service fit us in so we could make our trip on schedule, and they were transparent and fast when it came to ordering and installing the new tires. Their willingness to explain the problem in detail as well as provide multiple options went above and beyond the typical mechanic shop. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I love these guys! They are top notch, super kind, great customer service and I trust them implicitly. So grateful to have a local garage that can service my Volvo with care and expertise and fairness. Don't hesitate to get over there and get your car serviced with them!

By far the best service I have ever received. Ray and his staff do outstanding work and for a very reasonable rate. By far one of the most honest and up front mechanics I've used.

Jeff Larrabee, the new owner, and his mechanics are fantastic! The level of genuine compassion and exemplary customer service I received prompted me to write this review.
When parts were unavailable and my car was not drivable I panicked. I am a special education teacher and I cannot miss school. Without my car I felt helpless.
Jeff went ABOVE and BEYOND any level of CUSTOMER SERVICE I have received, anywhere. He arranged for an Uber to take me to and from my job - in GNG! He apologized for not being able to get the parts (not something he can control) and checked in to be sure I got to school and back safely and that my car was repaired to my satisfaction.
In today’s reality, who does this? A new owner committed to his community and growing his business, that’s who!
Cape Elizabeth Service Center is a quality operation - kind, knowledgeable, professional and, the BEST customer service EVER! I cannot recommend Cape Elizabeth Service Center highly enough. Many thanks to Jeff and his mechanics. You have my business!!Apr 10, 2024 -
I have been taking my cars to this auto shop and was told recently, that Ray and Michele sold this shop to a new owner. I am concerned if the new owners will maintain the culture and service but I am optimistic that they will. I just serviced my truck (oil change) and was surprised that they jacked up prices; for example, they charged for my oil filter (last one last August 23 $4.99) and this time they charged $8.62 and labor 25% more ($20 vs $25 in 6 months). This typically happens with owner change and I caution that everyone please watch. Having said that, I will go to them again and if I see the trend is different and they continue to charge more, then I may have to rethink and report to BBB. They tried to sell me a big service for over $800 that is manufacture recommended but I did that service with the dealer 2 years ago and obviously I has to tell them and they were ok. My advice to the new owners is don't lose trust of Ray's customers

Prices are fair and work seems quality. I'm reviewing bc I'd like to mention an area for improvement. I've noticed the management often talks about customers behind their backs. I've walked up to the counter while two employees were snickering about me (regarding a question/comment I made about my car's mechanics). On another occasion, I sat in the waiting room while two employees openly complained and eye-rolled about a customer who just walked out. This is unprofessional. I'm sure you value your customers, but this behavior doesn't demonstrate that. I haven't decided if I'll bring my car back to Cape Service for this reason. Maybe one more try..

Every time I have had an issue with my car and I call Cape Service Center they are extremely helpful and caring about the cost of services needed. Even if they are unable to service for urgent needs, they have provided amazing advice on what to do and where to go. I have never had any issues with their services on my car & they quote before repairs so you’re not blindsided on the cost. Extremely kind customer service and workers.

I just moved to the area and I needed to find a new mechanic for my 1977 Ponitac Firebird. The car had leaky gaskets on a new turbo 350 transmission. I paid them over $800 to have the issue fixed and they NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. I had to bring back the car three times and it still leaks. After they told me that the transmission had been inspected multiple times and wasn't leaking. I'm not the kind of person that would normally ever leave a bad review on a local company. However this has easily been the worst and most sloppy work I have ever seen done on my classic car.

Cape Elizabeth Service Center is a spectacular establishment. I go there to get my car inspected, they have never once told me I need all this unnecessary work done to get my car inspected. They are respectable and reliable, I will never go anywhere else as long as they are there.

Cannot say enough good things about this business. I have recently purchased a used truck and took it to a local auto store for another issue. While there, they said that my tires were dry rotted and that I needed new ones. Being a single female and the fact that this auto store sells tires, I wanted a second opinion. Ray was gracious enough to take a look at the tires and gave me his opinion. I really appreciated hearing his unbiased opinion and certainly feel that I wasn't being "taken advantage of" because I am a single female. I will definitely be returning to this establishment whenever I need repairs done to my new "used" truck!!! Thank you, Michelle and Ray!
