The mechanics are knowledgeable and dedicated to their craft. The Service Manager runs a tight ship and is very thorough in his inspections. He is man that knows trucks inside and out along with all DOT regulations when it comes to the trucks. He's a trustworthy man. The Parts Manager was also quite knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions.
Of all the repair shops I've visited this one is by far the cleanest and well organized.
Big Wheel Diesel comes up BIG again when I called on them to help get me out of a bind. They had my truck fixed and back running the same day. They were very meticulous, found the issue, the cause of my issue and fixed it the same day. This isn't the 1st time they've done excellent work on a diesel truck for me. They're always a good choice when I need a diesel mechanic.

Our rear brakes went out on our RV and Big Wheels was there to help. They repaired our brakes and double checked the breaks to make sure the brakes were now working properly. They explained exactly what happened. Big Wheels had our RV just for a few days and off we went.

Had these guys come over to pull me out of a swamp yard with gravel from Premier Chemical in Akens LA and Daniel the tow truck guy was very helpful and very effective with his work, really helped me out with no issues and great timing, thank you Big wheel for great work today and thank God for putting great people around me to rescue me and to keep working.

Great service. I had a broken arm on my lift axle, not something that you see everyday. They stayed after hours to remove the arm, had it to the welder/fabricator the next morning, they were able to put it back together and reinforce it better than new, had it back on the truck and I was rolling the following day. They're friendly, upfront, trustworthy, efficient, and do a most excellent job. I would recommend them for all maintenance and repairs. Thanks again Gary, Cody, and Dave. Y'all are the most.
I hardly ever leave low rating reviews. It is never my intention to hurt anyone or their income in any way. However, if I could rate this place of business with less than one star I would. After my husband spoke with a CSR and there being a clear indication of misunderstanding (calmly I must add) out of nowhere the owner of this company came on to the phone hollering about his business name potentially looking bad, and more information than my husband and I cared to know about him having too many other customers waiting. It didn’t make any sense. My husband’s work vehicle gave out on the interstate. DOTD were so kind to offer him a tow to the next exit where my husband contacted this tow company to take our vehicle from there to a repair shop.Maybe the owner heard the word “Free” while my husband was explaining DOTD was pulling him to the next exit free of charge is where perhaps this company “assumed” we didn’t have the funds to pay for our tow or what, but the owner became very aggressive and rude. The tone and level of rudeness was incomprehensible. My husband tired from working an overnight shift was still trying to explain himself, to get our car towed but by this point (I’m here only because my husband called for a ride home) I was completely turned off with the level of customer service being given. We called another company and with in minutes were given an ETA when they would arrive. To take the time out of my day to leave a review of this kind hopefully speaks to how disturbed and disrespected we feel. Please spend your money with a company that appreciates their potential customers and if they are too busy, clearly and kindly allow people the option of doing business elsewhere.
We had to call roadside while sitting at the TA Truck stop in Hammond when our truck wouldn't start. Scott was dispatched and called to let us know he was on the way. He arrived and got straight to business identifying the problem in about 30 minutes. A starter bolt!! He was very personable and professional. What a wonderful shop! I called while broken down on the side of the road. Scott was dispatched to help me out. Scott identified my problem and made a plan to get me back on the road. This was done as efficiently as possible. Another thing that happens when you deal with Big Wheel is you get great communication along the way. Big Wheel ‘s prices were very reasonable. We just made a 1400 mile trip towing our 36ft travel trailer behind us, unfortunately we had a trailer tire blow out 2 hours from our destination. We had to pull over on the side of a busy interstate. We had a gentleman named Scott dispatched out to us and he made an already stressful situation way worse. He had an attitude from the beginning, and I understand not wanting to be called out on a Saturday afternoon for this, but we also don’t want to be stranded on the side of the road with our family. Zero customer service skills and shaking his head in disgust when walking away from my husband. We paid $250 for a 20 minute job and we were happy to do so because it’s a very important and risky job, but the poor people skills definitely made this situation way worse. Save yourself more mental anguish and call a different company!
The towing experience was professional along with the main office but the guy at the tow yard needs a major attitude adjustment. BAD FOR BUSINESS! I will never use this company again and would not recommend them to anybody I love because of his ugly disposition. If you don’t want to deal with people, find another job! He would not be on my payroll if I had a business! Just disgusting!!!
Mannn I can’t praise these guys enough. Had an air line blow on top of my transmission, was stuck at the Walmart dc in Robert, La. They came fast!! First the mechanic Scott came to see if it was a quick fix on site and identified the problem immediately. Needed to have the tow truck come and they cut me a deal. The mechanic didn’t try to run up a hourly rate and would document his time and even would tell ME ABOUT IT SO I WASNT IN THE BLIND. THAT RIGHT THERE IS GREAT BUSINESS!!! Got my truck back up and going and didn’t leave nothing for the unknown. Highly recommend this place and I will always do business with them if I’m in this area. Fellow Owner Ops this place is gold. We had an Emissions/Check Engine Light issue in our Entegra Anthem while traveling across country. The Big Wheel team stepped up to get us in and out of their shop and back on the road in less than 3 hours! We were hauling our 5th wheel when after a rest stop on the hi way we suddenly lost acceleration. I could get the speed up to 65 eventually, but it took awhile, and if I had to brake, it took awhile to get the speed back up again. We found an RV park after a few miles, and the woman at the desk asked around for local diesel mechanics. Big Wheel was only a mile down the road so we drove it there. At first they said they could not get to it, but agreed to have the night shift mechanic take a quick look at it. He spent 45 minutes on it, tested a bunch of things, and blew out some part I didn't recognize. Anyway, it fixed it. The owner and the mechanic came out to tell us what they found and what they did, and sent us on our way, NO CHARGE. "Merry Christmas" is what the owner said, and "Leave us a good review". This is that review, well earned by Big Wheel Diesel & Wrecker Service. A Christmas miracle.

My driver was stranded in Hammond, LA when his Freightliner rig suddenly derated and shut off on I-12. Rhonda dispatched a tech to do a roadside regen, but later had to tow it into the shop. It was midnight on a Friday night, so we had to wait till Monday for full repair, but the team got on it fast and fixed a DEF exhaust leak and got us back on the road Tuesday morning. The price was good, and the speed, accuracy and professionalism of their service was great. Even after the tow, we were able to deliver our 45,000 of freight to our customer undisturbed. Thank you so much for the rescue! I highly recommend your team and will reach out if we ever need help in the area again.

My truck broke down on Sunday. I was still able to get my truck towed to Big Wheel shop. Unlike some of these other shops that misdiagnose problems after keeping your truck for 2 weeks and then charge you an arm and a leg ...Big Wheel actually diagnosed mine correctly and in a timely fashion. I was only there 3 days and I wasn't mad at my ending cost. They are more than fair!!! The whole staff is professional and the owner Gary is a gentleman and he stays involved with the customers throughout the whole process which you don't see anywhere else! I was extremely impressed!! Any issues I have with my truck..I will definitely take it back to Big Wheel!!!
Where do I start with this one...Big Wheel, Inc is where you want to take your Commercial Vehicle if you are ever in need in Hammond, LA. I ran into a major problem that I panicked on very fast. My company was transporting a load and a simple careless mistake happed at the Pilot around the corner. My husband pumped DEF into the Diesel tank. We made calls around for a towing company and Big Wheel was by far the most inexpensive. Melvin took great care of our vehicle in a quick and timely manner. He was very professional and assured us the situation would be handled with care. At 8am once the doors opened Terry greeted us and got us checked in. Terry was extremely polite and helpful and also assured us that they would get someone on it as soon as they could. The place was swamped with vehicles. I spoke with the owner Gary (my now BFF) and explained my situation, he was very straight forward and informed me that he could not give me an exact time frame, but he was thinking the following morning that my vehicle would be ready. I am a new business owner and was sitting on a load that needed to be there the same morning that Gary had quoted me to be ready. Tears began to fall because I did not want to be late on this load. Gary told me that he would see what he could do, but he couldn't make me any promises. Not only did Gary and his Team deliver, they got my baby back up and running that same day. I was so relieved. Truck broke down @ the Petro Truck Stop, made the call to get towed to the shop, Gary(owner) told me he would do his best to get in a day or two, in shop the next morning, found the problem. Cody(mechanic) GREAT! SHARP! explain everything to me and made suggestions, issue fixed and some other repairs were made to my truck. Gary kept me informed the whole time and pricing was reasonable. Terry, Stephanie and the whole office staff was nice and friendly. Clean shop and organize. Gary runs a tight ship over there!!! Will go back there again to get other items fixed.

I took my 2016 peterbilt 579 to them for a 3 axle alignment a couple of weeks ago.i have to say this first before I continue, before I took it to them while driving when I hit a bump or bad patch of road I would grab the steering so firm my hands would hurt to stay on the road and was really nervous when it rained I didn't feel in control,but after taking it to them i was a little uneasy on takeing it there,as I'm very picky on whom work on my truck.But I'm so glad I did, after being on the road for a few weeks hitting all kinds of bumps and driving on bad roads my truck have not driven so good since I bought it. The mechanic who did all the work on it gets a huge thumbs . You did a fantastic job.
They allowed us to come in on Saturday after hours which we appreciated very much. We have an older RV that needed an A/C repair. The tech Cody was knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. Cost was average for a weekend call-in. Worth every penny! Definitely recommend to anyone needing RV repairs in the Hammond area or if you're just passing through. Thank you so much! I needed to have an alignment done on my 2015 Entegra Anthem and I chose Big Wheel because they were an authorized Spartan service shop and the good reviews. I was not disappointed. Gary kept me informed during the entire process while working on my motor home. Their prices are very reasonable and I am very pleased with their work. I am a happy camper and plan to use them in the future for any of my Spartan chassis needs. I would highly recommend them.
I had a code on my truck and took it to a shop in Virginia took them 6hours and couldn't figure it out said the 559 code were too difficult to diagnose. So I was forced to continue driving it the way it was. I had no power and even empty it wouldn't go passed 50mph. So I called Big wheel and spoke to Cody he said being it in. Not only did he diagnose it but explained every step he was doing . This guy knows what he's doing .. no guessing at all . Take my word don't waste your time going anywhere else. This is the place. Very hard working mechanics . And ask for Cody . You wont be disappointed.
