I do not recommend this place
I called and was quoted a price for Aluminum extrusions. I did not know that you need to separate the welded aluminum extrusion from the non welded. They consider welded aluminum as MLC mixed low copper. Approx 40% of my load was non welded.
This place is not competitive on pricing. In fact looking at the weight on a Similar ticket, and another scrapyard, for the same type of Material I received less than half of What I normally get. As written in previous reviews You get tin prices for just about anything you bring in. Once you unload, you find this out. Slick but never again
It's a typical scrapyard. The prices they give aren't the best. Perhaps for St. Tammany Parish, but Florida Scrap in Hammond offers much more competitive prices & the overall facility is much professional. You can tell they've put everything into running their place of business, as opposed to other scrapyards where you can tell they put everything into running their place of business into the ground. That's not how I feel about this place, it's somewhere in the middle of that description.
First time using P&W, I will not be back. I took a aluminum boat to scrap as I was told on the phone scrap AL is as high as .60/lb.. Two seats on the boat had foam flotation inside. Because of this the AL was called heavy iron and gave me $.05/Lb.
I dropped about 5 clean coils, and a couple buckets of brass. It’s been 2 months and I’m still “waiting” on my check. Scrapping just ain’t worth it to me anymore. Throw the stuff in the trash. I’m being 100% serious.
Pretty straight forward. I arrived there, drove up on the scale, recorded my weight, and proceeded to the area where they wanted me to dump the scrap metals I was hauling. Once the trailer was empty, I returned to the scale and recorded my new weight. An employee came to me with a printed ticket showing both weights - before and after. I then drove off and returned to work.
Had all steal first trip and nothing but aluminum sheeting second trip both tickets stated i had tin. First time shame on me second time shame on you. Will not EVER go back to this place. Dont even take batterys. Go to Florida parish scrap its worth the price difference.
What’s really sad is that instead of changing business practice and sops , these folks are clearly putting fake 5 star reviews up to offset the very true low reviews...don’t u just hate shady people and practice..welcome to the new America....
Terrible service. They will automatically pay you 100% sheet metal prices even when you dont have an ounce of sheet metal. I live in Mandeville and i would recommend driving to the scrap yard in slidell before coming here, at least they pay a fair price and grade your scrap correctly.
Absolute worst place. Do not go!!! Do not go!!!! Gave 5 cents for aluminum window frames because they had expanding foam on some!!!! What the hell does that weigh???!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!
The guys were friendly and got me out pretty quick. I looked around my truck and didn't find any sharp objects on the ground. They gave me a fair price for my my brass and copper.
The scrap price is not the best but it's a easy place to get in and out of never have to wait long the people are nice and most of the time she gives us candy
60% purchase price of going rate. Not worth the loading up and fuel cost. Opted to give 100+ lbs of aluminum to the City of Covington recycling instead.
