What clients say about Grambling Family Health Center in Grambling (LA)

Located in the Highway 80 /Junction Business District in Grambling, Family Health Center earns a 5 in my book because it brings basic medical care to the community. No more having to travel out of town for run-of- the-mill clinic services. The waiting area is clean, comfortable, and attractive and my neighbor has nothing but compliments for the medical personnel. And as one reviewer noted, GFHC will even provide transportation if needed. I loved Dr. Bruce Everest, those various-flavored suckers, and Highlight magazines that were always present. (Yes. I'm that old!). But having good healthcare within a community adds to the community's quality of life. Thank you, GFHC! And actually, that entire Highway 80 Junction Business District in Grambling is a prime economic development project! Plenty of traffic (cars, pickups, and 18-wheelers) regularly pass that way. I recently saw the service station's advertisement on the front page of The Grambling Connection newspaper. Wonderful! Those lunch specials really sound quite tasty. Can't wait to see what happens there next!

DONT GO HERE!!! The Doctor isn’t a doctor. They only take your insurance & give you no help. I wouldn’t take my pet monkey here

Every time I come to PHSC, EVERY worker I come across has an attitude. They go out of their way to be rude and they have the longest wait time I’ve ever experienced. Don’t come here if you have somewhere to be, make sure you leave ample time for dealing with their terrible customer service as well as the lengthy wait times. Thanks to the older lady behind the counter & her very unwelcoming demeanor, I will never come back here unless desperate times call for it. Which I pray it never does. Save yourself 3-4 hours and just go to quickcare in Ruston. At least they can successfully act like they enjoy their job. P.S. The walk-ins are welcome sign is a lie, I walked in almost 3 hours ago and I’m still waiting ?

I made it to the health center at 8AM for a covid test and waited till 4PM just for them to tell me to visit urgent care for a test since they don't do test pass 4PM. That will be the last time I come there for anything. Note: I wasn't the only person waiting. Multiple people left around 4PM also because they didn't get a test. Also they wouldn't give me an excuse for work since I "Haven't been seen".

Very helpful and kind staff that answer all the questions I had for them. The first time you go it's a wait to fill out paperwork, but after that it's a breeze. They will even come pick you up if you're close.

My insurance provider no longer sends out medical cards. It's all on the mobile app. And because of the security features, I can't do a screenshot to capture the card and email it. So because I didn't have an actual id card to provide the rude attendant at the front, i was denied service. You mean to tell me that I have medical insurance through my employer...but you're too lazy and sorry to capture the information from my phone screen???? No, I'll NEVER set foot in this place again and I wouldn't advise others to do so either. Poor customer service.

Very unorganized and unprofessional. The staff was rude as well. I had an early morning appointment but did not get called back until 2 and a half hours after my appointment time. When the nurse finally came to the room she had an attitude when I started expressing my concerns as far as why the wait was so long she stated “girl you don’t get special treatment “ and that’s not what I was asking for. Once I told her my reason for my visit she did not do the proper evaluation of my body she just wrote me a prescription and they took my blood and she dismissed me and told me to come back in a week for a follow up.

This review is based on my experience from their Grambling, LA satellite station, but since they are under the umbrella of Primary Health Services and this is based on their corporate policy than by extension this review applies to them all. I went in a couple of weeks ago to find out if I had a urinary tract infection. First off this wasn't my first visit, but apparently, they make you fill out the same information you fill out at the beginning, sign that you agree to a privacy act that they don't give you another copy for, yet require that you approve that you still agree to it. The next step is they make you take a 15-minute survey asking you personal questions about your emotional health, that is not a major problem except it wasn't initiated by me and seems to be some advertisement for trying to get people to sign up for some psychological therapy. It would have been better if I said I was interested in it rather than have it forced. This too was done twice and should be voluntary not required especially if it is included in the cost. If you haven't met your deductible and its a high one you can pay $127 for a UTI test. Yep, the same one you can get from CVS pharmacy for $9.29. So upon the initial inspection, the doctor advised me she couldn't see any leucocytes but that they would still send it off to confirm. I was then told to come back in 2 weeks for a follow-up. Here is the clincher you are required to pay another $127 to get the results of a test that you paid for on your initial visit. Desiree advised me this is classified as"treatment". So on what planet is knowing if a test is positive or negative considered treatment? Antibiotics are prescribed before the test comes back and you are advised to take immediately. That is treatment and was apparently covered. So ultimately I am being required to pay $127 for no other reason than to get the results of my test. When Desiree advised me that I could speak with a supervisor my number was taken and given to Lori. Lori as pleasant as she was confirmed that I cannot get the lab work I paid for by email or snail mail, but that I would have to come in for a consult. When I explained the situation to her she simply said this is their policy, but she understood and she handed me off to her superior in quality control whose name is Cynthia. She advised me that due to the Affordable Care Act my UTI test and results will cost me $254. My cost for having insurance with a high deductible. Mind you I already paid for the test on the initial visit which was confirmed by Desiree, but unless I come in and see a physician I can't find out what the results are. I explained if the test results are negative I receive no treatment, I'm just out of $254.00. When I set my appointment I was not ambiguous, my appointment was to simply get a UTI test and that was about the extent of my conversation and request when I spoke to the doctor. I recognize everybody may not be in tune with their body and so paying for treatment should be optional, but let's not confuse diagnosis with treatment and certainly, we should not be taking individuals hard earned money and withholding them from information they paid for under the guise of it. End of the story, Cynthia apologized but stated clearly that this is the policy of their organization and she would speak to the owner, this, of course, was after I was told this was mandated by the government's Affordable Care Act. At the end of the day I was told "I'm sorry, but that's our policy and we have to do what we have to do" My response was "well I guess I have to do what I have to do" I told her they need to make it clear up front in the future that an individual will have to pay $254 for a UTI test because had I known I would have never submitted to their care. She stated she would send my complaint to corporate, keep my number and see what she could do only after I told her my friends have already been advised of this conversation and they would not be recommended for care. Amazing what the power of exposing unjust services can do.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! They take forever to get you back even if by apt then when you finally get back they leave you in a room an extra 20-30 mins before they come see about you! No sense of urgency! Apt was at 8am didn't get called back until 8:30 and it's 9:20 I'm still waiting in the room. I will NOT be back at this place
