Had my car towed here after an accident and was really impressed. The staff were very friendly, easy to talk to, and made the whole process simple. The lot was well kept and everything was handled smoothly. It gave me the same kind of feeling as a small-town ma-and-pa business—genuine, straightforward, and dependable. Highly recommend.
Broke down right at midnight and called every towing company in town, Paynes was the only one who answered. Within 15 minutes of calling they were on the scene. James was prompt and professional. He did a fantastic job! It was very fairly priced, especially for how late it was and how far out of town I had the vehicle towed. If I ever need to be towed again I'll definitely call Paynes.
My radiator started leaking really bad while traveling from Texas to Ohio. I think I called every tow service in town and not one person could help, but James was here not even 20mins after I called. He was friendly and even knew where to take my care to get repaired. I would highly recommend Paynes for emergency towing.
Don't waste your time I set for over 2 hours called back to get an ETA left multiple messages an still no one ever returned my call! I'm so grateful I didn't have my little with me. Ended up calling Scotty's towing. Much better !!!
My Friend, my mother, 6 kids and myself had been at Beechbend Park all day on the hottest day of the year. On our way out my friend had a flat tire. I called the park and was told she knew no one that could help us. So I googled roadside assistance, the first place I called told me it would be a hour wait and cost me $165. So I called Paynes A-1 towing, the guy told me he would charge me $65 and a 30 minute wait. He was actually there in 15 minutes and had her tire changed in 10 minutes. Not only did he get there quickly, he was very friendly!! I would highly recommend Paynes A-1 towing!!! Thanks Again!
Attempted Shakedown?
My car broke down (overheating) on the Cumberland Parkway near the Nancy exit. I called the BMW Roadside Assistance through their phone app. After speaking with the representative, I was assured that a towing service would be found and provided with No Charge to me. After a few text alerts, I was informed that Payne Towing had been assigned to haul my car to the nearest BMW dealership, which was in Bowling Green. They provided an ETA of the service, and said I should expect a call from Payne Towing confirming.
Well, I received the call, and it wasn't good. The tow driver called me and asks whereabouts on the Cumberland Parkway I was. He then told me that, that wasn't exactly where BMW said I was, and it would cost me about $400 additional. Can you say Shakedown? I know for a fact that roadside assistance gave them the correct coordinates because the operator repeated and verified my exact location back o me several times, and that was what would have been relayed to the towing service. I think Payne towing saw an opportunity to earn a few extra bucks and went for it.
After several phone calls with roadside assistance, Payne's towing was terminated and another towing service that had to drive even further than them came to my rescue. With No Cost to Me!
Scheduled a simple jump start and was led on for 5 hours, just to have them not answer the phone. Called someone else and got them here within 30 minutes. It’s easy just to say no instead of letting people think you’re coming for 5 hours…
Zero stars if I could!!!!! Called through AAA service, waited 2+ hours, and then they cancel saying they are not coming, leaving my 2 kids stranded for hours waiting on a tow, that knew they weren't coming because they would not answer their phone. If you do not want to do your job, you should get another. How you can just leave people stranded is crazy, it seems you do it quite often from the reviews I am now reading., especially when children are involved. But thanks to second chance towing for getting my kids home quick and safe!!
Update..they called back at 2am saying they had an order for my car after they left us hanging and canceled the ticket.
Roadside Assistance sent this service to pick up my vehicle. It took them around 2 hours even though their ETA was 45 minutes. They marked as on-site way before they got there, so that shows they have no issues committing fraud. Then when I called about them saying on site they hung up on me. I wasn’t being the least bit rude but they sure were. I will be reporting their crooked business practices to Verizon’s Roadside Assistance program. I work for Verizon so you can be sure the right person will get my complaint.
My daughters car was in a accident, BGPD called them to have it towed. The took to their lot. We then contacted our insurance company and they contacted A1 on a three way call. We gave permission for the car to be taken to auto body shop by mid afternoon on Monday. The car was not taken over on Monday. They said they'd have it there Tuesday morning. Insurance adjuster showed up but no car, it was still at A1. When we called them I asked if they knew what adjuster said, A1 guy said no. I asked why the car wasn't at body shop like you said. He then said I have to go and have a good day. I do not recommend them we had no choice cause BGPD was the ones who called them. If car isn't totalled not sure how long A1 would take to body shop, if totalled they get a fee. So either way may have to get car ourselves.
Update, car was totaled, A1 tried charging us almost $300 for storage fees, cause they never delivered to auto body shop (my insurance company paid it). When we went to clean car out had to wait over 30min for someone to show up. Very rude and unprofessional, yard is a mess.
Paynes was dispatched by my insurance company to tow my car to a repair shop. I have two flat tires. An immediate ETA was given as 60-90 minutes. After almost 2 hours my insurance company checked back on me and I told them no one from Paynes had called or shown up. No problem really since I am at my home and the car with flats is right outside. I am not stranded somewhere. My insurance company called Paynes and Paynes said that I had called and canceled the tow. But I had not called them...I was sitting here waiting.
I would have hated to stranded by the side of some random road , without heat waiting for a tow driver that was never coming. Watch out for these guys.
I would give 0 stars if I could. This is one of the most unprofessional business I’ve ever dealt with!! Made an arrangement for vehicle pickup over the phone. He asked to text him all the vehicle details which I did seconds after we talked. I waited for 2 days for them to pickup the vehicle and they never did. They ignored my calls and texts. They could have just told me that they won’t be providing me the service. I finally reached out to Burton’s Towing and my vehicle was picked up and delivered from Kentucky to Nashville on the same day in less than two hours.
Our roadside assistance called these guys to tow us. We were told 25 mins. 1.5 hours later called back and talked to Patrick (owners son) and was told 25 min. When I said you said that 1.5 hours ago I just need to know when you’re going to be here he said idk what to tell you we are covered up We will be there when we get there and hung up. He’s very rude. I get being busy but don’t forget the customer is who pays you! Too many towing businesses in bowling green to give business to a jerk. Would highly recommend someone else if you’re looking for customer service and a company that actually cares about the customer.
Patrick was the best! Customer service was above and beyond my wildest expectations, my son was stuck on side of interstate and Patrick stayed in touch while making his way to my son's location where he fixed my sons tire and got him back on the road. This company was dispatched to our home through our insurance company when we had a flat tire. They got there within the promised hour, I had a nice chat with the son who came. He got my spare on and had me up and running within 15 minutes.Even put my damaged tire in the trunk to take to the tire store. Great experience!
My mother locked my keys in my car. Thank god I have roadside and they dispatched one company and they canceled then they sent Payne’s and they was here fast and he was able to unlock my door super fast and was very nice. Would use them again and would recommend!
This towing company is the worst!!! My friend and I called the tow company and let them know that we were on our way to her car and they said they would meet us there in 20 minutes. We waited 20 minutes and then called again, he said that he wouldn’t make it out for another 30 minutes. Again, we waited but the 30 minutes turned into 2 hours and we called multiple times for any updates and they declined all calls. We ended up having to call a different tow company. Extremely unprofessional and will never use them again.
My roadside service company contracted my tow to them. I waited 7 hours while they told me multiple times that they were “20 minutes away”. A simple phone call saying they couldn’t get there would have changed the whole experience. At one point their truck pulled up to my house and then drove away without stopping. Most bizarre service experience I’ve ever had. They never came back, even after I called and they assured me once again that they were “20 minutes away”, so I requested a different company.
Bales Towing is wonderful though, so call them if you really need a tow.
i scheduled a time with the owner i believe 2 days ahead of time. when i was in route he told me a driver was on the way. well they didnt show up then i kept getting lied to saying he was on his way etc etc... after finally showing up the driver showed my texts which didnt line up with the owner message. once again lies and delays. Number 1 thing if they had just been honest upfront i wouldnt be writing this post!!
Called them at 9 am to request a tow told me it be about an hour! Called back 3 hrs later , told me they were headed over there, Called back 2 hrs later to be told ohh yeah we're to busy just find someone else , service is so bad I wouldn't use them again even if it was free, Called walker towing in town got the job done right away, id give them -10 stars if I could had to pay extra storage because they lied about it.
Waited in a grocery store parking lot in an easily accessible part of the city for over 2 and a half hours for towing after being given an estimate of 60 minutes. After they didn’t show up, they updated the ETA to 15 minutes and didn’t arrive for over another hour. We tried to call their number several times only to get a full answering machine.
Thankfully, when a truck did arrive, Patrick provided quick and professional service. However, the dispatch experience was extremely unpleasant, so I would not recommend it to anyone.
The tow truck driver we had tonight was absolutely amazing!! He was so kind and cared so much about us! He called and told me hed be there soon as he could and double checked on the way to us! I highly recommend this company if your ever in need! They are truly the best! I had a blow out on the interstate with 2 babies myself husband and sister in law in the car he found a way to get us all away and off the interstate safely! Jason was this mans name and i absolutely recommend him! Jason if you see this thank you so much for all your help!
Waited an hour and my insurance company and I tried to get in touch with them. Finally got in touch with their dispatch (called twice before anyone answered) and they said a driver was on the way. Three hours in, my insurance company told me they canceled with no explanation so they sent Burton’s instead. Burton’s got there in 30 minutes and was very efficient and professional. After my car was loaded on the truck, Payne’s texted, “We had a accident sorry.”
If I could give this company zero stars, I would. After hitting a tire on I65 our insurance company called this company and sent us a text around 11:15am to say the tow truck should be with us within an hour. After calling the Payne's A1 towing around 12:20pm I was told that the truck was 20 minutes out. I called them again around 40 minutes later to see where it was & I was told that the truck had ran out of gas & would be there soon. Around 45 minutes later I called their dispatch again & was told to call the driver, who I had called first at 12:20pm and received no answer. This time he did answer but he told me he had a slow flat tire that he was having to get repaired. At 2:05pm a different truck from the same company finally showed up. It was one of the hottest days of the year & if we had been on the side of the road for 3 hours rather than at the gas station I don't know what we would have done.
Will never call these people again. They towed my car to the wrong dealership, they could not tell me which one, after 5 calls from my chosen dealership and me calling Paynes 5 times in an 11 hour period and calling every major dealership in the city of Bowling Green and still could not find my car, I finally called the Bowling Green, KY Police Dept and reported it stolen and POW! Just like that, it shows up at my dealership within 1/2 hours of the Police report. They should have their business license revoked. I will never use them again and I requested that my insurance company blackball them off of their list. Steer clear of this place.
My insurance company called Paynes out to change the tire on my Travel Trailer. Guy that showed up with jack from Kmart with no lever to jack it up with. Then proceeded to use the wrong socket to get the lug nuts off and rounded off 1 of them. At that point he said they will come back in the morning and complete the job as he did not have the correct tools on his truck. He even called and asked if there was a 4 way lug wrench on his truck. I was good with that as we were in a parking lot and could use the rest. I just asked that they be there by 6am the next morning to get it completed he said no problem. So I give them a call at 6:50am and ask when they are showing up. I get this response "you need to call your insurance company and tell them we do not do that" and that was it they were done. Unreal....
Waited 30 minutes over the estimated time, which by itself wasn't too bad. The driver was friendly enough. I rode in the tow truck to my destination. This is when it gets real dicey. The passenger seat belt didn't have a buckle, which is dangerous, as I had to ride without one. I was willing to overlook it, until the driver began texting and driving. This is dangerous behavior when driving solo, but when a customer is in the vehicle with you and the customer's car is mounted on the back, it's completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and extremely reckless. If I ever need my car towed again, I will insist on anyone that isn't Paynes.
Great service and arrived in the estimated time given! Driver who picked my car up after the awful experience I had at the car wash, was beyond generous and quick, but careful. Never would've guessed that he was a new employee! I would definitely recommend A1 Towing. Owner was very nice as well!
My roadside assistance through my insurance company was sending a different local towing company with an ETA 1 1/2 hours after my call. Not good enough. I canceled that and called Payne's. Patrick was quick to arrive, loaded my vehicle, and had my child and me home within 40 minutes of my call. As I told him, I hope I don't need his services soon, but if I do, Payne's A-1 Towing is who I'll call.
This company is amazing! My husband and I were stuck on the side of the highway and they immediantly came to help. The guy that came to pick up our truck was incredibly friendly and professional. It felt like he really did care about us and our vehicle? I will use them again if I ever need to. They were extremely affordable and honest.
