These guys are great! I have taken my car to the dealership 4 times and they couldn’t fix the problem. These guys figured it out in two days and now my car is running great. Can’t recommend enough!

Exceptional service from Ft. Mitchell Garage. I brought my car in with a severely rusted suspension that required a full replacement—no small or inexpensive repair. Ron handled everything with professionalism, transparency, and real expertise from start to finish.
Even when parts availability became an issue, he took the time to explain the situation and ensured a safe, reliable solution rather than rushing the job or cutting corners. That level of care and accountability is rare.
What truly set this experience apart was how I was treated. As a woman, I was met with straightforward honesty and respect—no talking down, no pressure—just clear, professional service exactly as it should be.
As a 4th-generation, locally owned business, Ft. Mitchell Garage represents the best of what “shop local” should mean: quality work, integrity, and pride in what they do. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else.Apr 04, 2026 -

My 12V’s car battery died and I towed my car here because it was the closest to me. They charged me $657 dollars for changing the battery. A 350 dollar job costed me almost twice as much for no reason. I don’t care how much “engine control diagnostic procedure” was done, this is standard for this car and could not possibly have been all that much. Do not recommend.

If I could give Ron and his team 10 Stars, then I would! It's been a challenge to find a mechanic in this area to work on my 2006 BMW X5 that isn't a primary vehicle and Fort Mitchell Garage now has a customer for as long as we live in the area!! When I had yet another window regulator, etc bite the dust right before I was supposed to travel for work 2 straight weeks, I started calling around. At 2 other locations I contacted, I felt like I was being talked down to because I was a woman and told I'd need a full diagnostic and a lot of other additional things without them even seeing the vehicle. (I just wanted the window fixed!!!) When I spoke with Ron, I was immediately at ease and felt like I was talking to my Dad. He was patient when answering all my "dumb" vehicle questions and very understanding that I would need to drop it off and may not be able to pick it up until I returned to town. EVERY single person I spoke with on the phone was kind and caring. When my boyfriend picked up the vehicle and called me, the first thing he said was "Everyone there is so sweet and amazing!" I'll definitely be taking the suv back for additional repairs and recommending Fort Mitchell Garage to anyone looking for a mechanic. Thank you!!! You're all truly the best!

I recently brought in both my car and my wife’s car on back-to-back days. The work was just the basics—oil changes and tire rotations—but everything was done carefully and professionally. Every time I pick up my car, it drives so smoothly. I’ll definitely keep coming back for regular maintenance. Big thanks to Ron and the whole team for always being friendly and helpful!

Had a leaking issue with my 2013 Buick LaCrosse. Ron worked me into the schedule as he knows this is our only car and it was somewhat of a safety concern if I drove the car. He did a fantastic job fixing the concerns and restoring it back to normal. My car was also fixed in a timely manner and I have this great team to thank.
I have used them in the past for minor issues and feel like they are straight shooters and tell you exactly what is wrong and what they suggest, to fix it. They don’t oversell and keep it reasonable and the car is working and safe everytime. This was a water pump which was a costly repair. Nonetheless, it’s fixed and safe to drive thanks to them!
Thank you to Ft Mitchell Garage for your great work and fitting me into a busy day!
I truly appreciate your honesty and professionalism.

Love this place. They tell you exactly what is wrong with your car, they don't try to oversell you, and they do a great job. Every experience I have had with them has been notable awesome. Can't recommend them enough

I can’t say enough nice things about Fort Mitchell Garage! I took my car to them for a second opinion after I was quoted $680 for an “oil leak” somewhere else; I’m so glad I did. Fort Mitchell spent days making sure there wasn’t oil leaking, checking my PCV valve, and really just ensuring my car would be safe to drive. They are so reasonable and considerate!

Very expensive. I was charged over $75 for a diagnostic test. I told them when the car was towed in that the starter was the issue. The $75 test determined that yes it was the starter. Unnecessary test. The rebuilt starter should have cost around $179. I was charged $259. Labor should have been around $100 since the starter is easy to get to. I was charged around $250. Bottom line, I was charged over $600 for a job that should have been around $350 at most. I will not do business with them again.

I have been doing business with Fort Mitchell Garage for years. It’s a luxury of kindness, caring for the customer as well as professionally always. Each employee is remarkable at giving each customer all they have to get things done well, and done perfectly!!

Setting up an appointment was easy. Description of work to address the check light issue was very clear including costs and time of completion. Work completed on time. Very satisfied!

I was in need of a shifter replacement on my car. I was blown off by two other mechanics. I called this mechanic, they gave me a quote and ordered the part. It only took a couple of hours before it was fixed, and within the estimate they provided.
They are personable and didn’t try to upsell other services.
I highly recommend this mechanicMay 08, 2025 -
I dropped my vehicle off here to a guy name Ron. He told me it would take 4 wks before getting my car into the shop and then he could diagnose it to see what the problem was and give me a price for repairs. After the 4 wks, I called and was informed by Ron, he would get it looked at and give me a call after lunch. Sure enough, Ron did call and informed me my regulator box that communicate with the vehicle was gone out and would probably cost more to fix it then the car is worth. I asked the price and he said $1,200. I asked for the repair to be done and inform me when my vehicle is ready. Approximately, 4 more wks passed and I hadn't heard anything. I gave Ron a courtesy call to find out the status of repairs on my vehicle. Ron then informed me he found a oil leak and now repair would be higher and he doesn't feel its worth him working on cause the work cost more than the car. I informed Ron, his job is to perform mechanical services on vehicles no determine if the price is higher than the vehicle. I told him I would get my car soon enough. Well 2 months passed cause I was in North Carolina on a business contract. Once I returned to get my vehicle, they informed me it had been sold to junk yard. Said anything sitting 6 months is considered abandoned. But remind yourself, it was over 2 months before you all informed me you wasn't going to work on my vehicle. That's excluded from your so called 6 months statue which is also false. I'll be seeking legal actions on them very soon. Not trustworthy people to do business with.

If you want your vehicle fixed right the first time, this is the place. Always professional thorough and friendly! Only place I'll take me vehicle!
I posted this review a few years ago and it's still true today. Now Ron and the gang are even working on my sister's car. Still couldn't get me to go anywhere else!
My brother called me yesterday and said he's going to start using Ron as well. He reminded me of something that I once said, having it fixed right is the cheapest way to go. Luckily the prices are right there as well, but the service is above any other!Apr 07, 2025 -
Came in for an estimate to repair front end damage that I’ve been driving around with for a YEAR. No issues. Tech pushed on the fog light making it go fully inside the bumper.
I asked if he could stabilize it prior to me leaving as it was not like that prior to coming and I didn’t want to leave with it like that due to safety.
He responded “well you could have hit a pothole anytime and it would have done that.”
I said it’s been like that for a year, I doubt that. Either way I’d just like it put back since it wasn’t like that before.
He said “I have to push on things to give you pricing, and that’s not getting fixed today. We’re not taking off the bumper”
I then told him I didn’t think it was an unacceptable ask to try to put it back to the state I brought it in, and I didn’t appreciate being mansplained to, which apparently made him angry as he told me he’s a good Christian and wouldn’t do that.
I told him I didn’t appreciate the way he was speaking to me, to which he replied he didn’t speak to me that way.
Just because you don’t want to admit you’re being rude, doesn’t mean you aren’t.
Let him know I’d be leaving a review and he responded
Well now I’m questioning your motives.
Excuse me? I came here to give you money…not for you to make my car worse and treat me like trash.
Edited to add photo, took me less than 3 minutes to get back in place (which he said couldn’t be done after just using fingers) without even using “real” tools. I even suggested he try this and he just kept telling me it wasn’t his fault. Not that hard to just try to make things right B.Mar 19, 2025 -
I was interested in a car for sale at Performance Lexus of Northern Kentucky, but live close to Indianapolis. I had only hours to find and arrange for a mechanic to thoroughly inspect the car the following day (my window of opportunity to travel to see the car and decide whether to buy it.) By vast good fortune and the help of previous such reviews as this, I called Ft. Mitchell Garage to see if they could possibly help on such short notice.
I was connected to Ron ("who handles all our pre-purchase inspections himself"). He explained that he would do an initial inspection and test drive to see if there were any readily discernible issues with the car, and gave me a price for this first step. He would then consult with me to share what he found, then give me the option to proceed with the second step involving more thorough inspections. This made sense, the price was reasonable, and I happily agreed to proceed. He advised me to bring the car in as early as I could, and that he would figure out a way to get to it sometime that day despite having a full schedule already. It was almost 11:00 by the time I was able to get the car to Ft. Mitchell Garage.
Despite clearly being busy and calmly responding to questions from other mechanics on staff regarding a number of other customers' cars already being worked on, Ron smoothly and methodically went over the car and took us both on a very informative test drive. He directly and thoroughly addressed one issue I had noticed in my own earlier test drive, and assured me that the car appeared so far to be in excellent condition.
Following the second round of inspections, Ron showed me some pictures he had printed out of minor damage that appeared to have been overlooked underneath and behind the front bumper which had been repaired following a minor accident. He gave me a ballpark estimate of "about $400" for a repair shop to complete the repair properly, and advised me that otherwise the vehicle was in excellent condition.
Although this was beyond the scope of his inspection responsibilities, he responded to my question of whether I might expect the dealer to fix this by pulling up the JD Power record of 66 identical vehicles sold in this region recently with the actual final sales price. (This is more accurate than the Kelley Blue Book values that I had been accessing for free online.) Based on this, I had the information to proceed confidently with the purchase regardless of whether I needed to take on the final repair out of pocket.
I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and kind helpfulness of everyone on staff. Ron manages to juggle many balls simultaneously while giving everyone the direct attention they need. I am extremely grateful for his services, which were a real bargain for the peace of mind provided. In the (distant) past I did almost all my own mechanic work on many cars, trucks, and motorcycles. But with the rapid changes and increasing sophistication of modern vehicles, I would not have had a clue as to how to evaluate this car. I am grateful for Ron's expertise and clarity in explaining everything. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone.

I needed a pre-purchase auto inspection and I wasn't familiar with any mechanics in the area. I chose Ft. Mitchell garage based on the reviews and I'm very glad I did. Ron is the epitome of what customer service should be. His and his team were very accommodating with short notice. If I lived closer, I'd be switching mechanics.

Ron and the gang were very thorough with the 1978 Z28 Camaro swung by their way and came away incredibly impressed with the quality of work performed! In the years I've driven it after my dad had passed many years ago (and he also was a former car mechanic himself) when the car came into my possession I've never felt how smooth it runs now after the repairs!

I have never worked with a garage who communicated better. I directly worked with Bobby Price. He kept me updated throughout the entire process. I couldn’t have ask for a better guy to have handled my repairs. Thanks again guys wonderful job!

I brought my 2002 VW Beetle to Ron at Ft Mitchell Garage because a code needed to be figured out. It was an EVAP pump that was no longer available. The guys there figured it out and fixed my original pump so it would work and pass testing. I’m so glad Daisy is back and running again!!

Ron was great. Knowledgeable guy who gave me info on both the good and the potentially bad - full disclosure. Also, being in a crunch for time as we were, he went out of his way to get our van up on a rack.
The staff are also very courteous and prompt. Recommend 10/10.Aug 22, 2024 -
They are honest. The owner of the shop actually detected a charge on my bill that should not have been on the bill & he told me about it & deducted it from the total. The charge was something I would not have noticed. I trust this business. They also got my truck running beautifully. I could tell the difference just by starting the engine & when driving it, there was far less pressure needed on the accelerator (than previously) to notice it had more power.

I happened upon this place completely by accident; my car was breaking down and they were the closest mechanic. I’m exceptionally pleased with their service. The woman at the front desk was so kind and patient with my rowdy 4 year old and went out of her way to try to help me make arrangements for a rental car. They were very upfront about costs and, in the end, the repairs were reasonably priced. As a single mom with no car smarts these guys could have easily told me I needed thousands of dollars worth of work and I would have had no choice but to believe them and find the funds. Instead I walked away with a bill for only $270 and a renewed faith in humanity.
Thank you for helping me! I truly appreciate everyone I interacted with at Fort Mitchell Garage.May 25, 2024 -
We are from Cleveland Ohio. While driving to Florida on our recent family vacation our transmission blew on our car. The sheriff showed up and escorted us off the highway and told us 2 miles down the road was Fort Mitchell Garage and he recommended we stop there. Boy are we glad we did. It was a busy Friday at noon. But the entire staff at Fort Mitchell's jumped into action to help us. With in 25 minutes of arriving our car was on a lift and we got the prognosis. Not good news. We needed a completely new transmission. Unfortunately that service isn't offered there. However, Fort Mitchell's excellent service did not end there. They contacted a local tow company to obtain quotes, called another service station that specializes in transmissions, and helped us contact multiple rental car companies. We were able to leave our vehicle with them while we found alternate transportation. They offered their air conditioned shop and snacks to our kids. Their friendly and professional staff along with sincere hospitality made all the difference that day as we were panicked about our situation. Thank you Fort Mitchell Garage for your honesty, speed, and emotional support. Although I can't comment on your mechanics, your customer service is top notch. Thank you again.

I recently had Ft Mitchell Garage do a small auto body repair. I've used them multiple times over the years. They've ALWAYS done excellent work for me at fair prices. My most recent job was even better than I expected. Phil, the body shop manager went above and beyond what I expected from our discussion of the damage and repairs needed. I'll just say I was extra satisfied. Thanks Ron, Phil, and everyone at Ft Mitchell Garage. You made my day.

My car was having some connection issues and their team had to work around my security system. It was my first time doing business with them so I was not sure what to expect. They did a great job and were very fair on the bill. I'll definitely be back when I need other repairs in the future.

My master control on the door to unlock all of the other doors abruptly quit working. I had to use my key fob to unlock all the doors. They told me that they would need my car for the whole day. Upon dropping off my car I was told if they have to order the part that they would need it the next day and explained why. After getting home, I looked at my schedule and discovered that I needed my car the next day. I called them and they were so kind and understanding. The mechanic got on the phone and explained he had it working, but the switch might need to be replaced. I opted to pick up my car understanding that the switch might need to be replaced in the future. They got my door put back together so I could pick it up that day. The price was under the amount that I thought it would be. This business understands customer service. Unfortunately a lot of businesses have forgotten. I would highly recommend this company! I know if and when my switch decides to quit where I'll be taking my car.

Great experience from beginning to end. Ron really went above and beyond. I didn't have any transportation after dropping off my vehicle and Ron gave me a ride home and back. Also, got great prices for what I needed. And they also delivered excellent service to the vehicle. I bought my van used, but it is now driving like new. This is a very honest and trustworthy company. Highly recommend!

I have rave reviews for the vehicle service and the customer service at Fort Mitchell Garage. I am from out-of-town, and my check engine light came on while I was in Covington, KY, traveling for several days with my daughter (college visits). We were far from home and had many interstate miles to go. It was late in the day -- 4:30 pm -- and the garage closed at 6 pm. I called, asked if they could squeeze me in and run a diagnostic on my vehicle to see if the warning light was critical or if it could wait until we returned home later in the week. Not only did they agree to look at my car, they also did so pleasantly and more thoroughly than I have ever experienced -- even with my trusted mechanic back home. I received a thorough report that I could take with me as well. While waiting, we were treated like life-long friends by the woman behind the desk -- one of the owners (Her husband was the wonderful man who ran tests on my car.). Fortunately repairs could wait until we returned home. However, knowing how difficult it is to find thorough, trustworthy mechanics, I almost wish we could have taken them with us back home. Thanks again for a pleasant experience and the peace of mind that your review of my automobile provided. (Visited in mid-March 2017)
