I keep putting off writing a review because each time I’m at a loss for words. The best mechanic in Lexington. I’ve met my fair share of scammer “mechanics,” or at least unkind ones, and I cannot recommend Abe’s enough. They’re honest, for one. My used car has needed so many repairs that I’ve lost track of how many parts have been replaced. Each time I go in for a fix, they’re very clear about what repairs can be put off to be the most cost-effective. They’ve plugged nail holes in my tires for free when I couldn’t afford new wheels. There have been times when they couldn’t quite find the source of an issue I was having, so they told me that! Sent me home with a list of things to watch out for if my car acts up again, instead of just making up a fake problem/repair to get paid. For a place that’s so busy all the time, they’re also so efficient. They keep you updated with what’s going on. Everyone I’ve interacted with there - Wanda, Charles, and Abe - they’re all so kind. None of them has ever spoken down to me. They’re good people who are good at what they do!

The team at Abe’s has been so helpful and easy to work with! They were able to fix the front damage on my car in a matter of days, they even called to check to see if I needed my car before the weekend. When part of my insurance claim was denied, they were able to appeal it with my insurance company and worked with me to make sure any additional repairs I needed were more affordable. Wanda at the front desk is great, and Charles is very knowledgeable. I have nothing but great things to say about them. Will def be using them in the future!!!
After taking my vehicle to multiple shops and essentially begging them to replace my brakes and fix the strange noises my car was making, I was referred to Charles to fix my issues. My car drives like my car again and I have total confidence that it is operating as it should be. I would recommend their services to anyone!
So happy with my Abe's experience! The A/C went out in my Ford and it was a weird, tricky issue. Abe and his team did a great job taking care of it. It was done quickly and the price was reasonable. Wanda is always so kind and helpful, and the waiting area is really cute and comfortable. Very pleased!

I have lived in Lexington for 30 years and I did not know about Abe’s foreign auto repair. I drive a Mercedes-Benz and I had a mechanical problem that developed after the warranty ran out. So, I thought I would try Abe’s foreign auto repair. What a breath of fresh air! They were very friendly, identified the problem and fixed the mechanical problem at a reasonable rate. They should be called “Honest Abe’s.” From now on that’s where I’m going!
Absolutely impeccable. Fixed the collision damage on my GMC Sierra and it looks better than new. Total honesty and the cost beat my other estimate by 50%. No wonder the parking lot is full and cars are lined up on the street. I'll send Abe all the business I can.

Hey I was in a bind! The tensioner seized up on my old rav4 and shredded the serpentine belt to boot. It was late in the day; almost quitting time but Charles at Abe's Foreign Auto Repair took the car in, no sweat. He replaced the tensioner, installed a new belt and even cleared that annoying yellow dash light that had been staying on all the time too. So I recommend the good mechanics like Charles at Abe's Foreign Auto Repair for any work your car needs. They're friendly, very accommodating and do great work.

I’m so glad I found Abe’s shop! I first brought my Volkswagen in and they fixed it by that afternoon and gave me a fair price. After meeting a moose up close and personal, Abe fixed my Highlander to like new condition and charged much less than the other shop’s estimate. The shop is always spotless, and the waiting area is very clean and inviting. Wanda, the receptionist, is extremely organized and very neat. Communication is excellent. They will have my business from now on! I highly recommend this place of business!!!
I simply cannot praise everyone at Abe's enough! After being screwed and scammed out of tons of money from other mechanics in Lexington (namely Scheller Automotive) , a random Valvoline employee recommended Abe's to me and I have never looked back!
Abe and his team somehow kept me safe in a VW beetle that was literally falling apart, and when I finally gave her up for my new-to-me Civic, they have continued to show me the utmost care. They have never charged me just to look or to give advice, and what they do charge for maintenance and repairs is extremely reasonable! Take one look at their constantly packed-out lot and you will see how they afford to be so fair--everyone who cares about their car brings it to Abe!
I have bad driving anxiety, and once called in from a Taco Bell parking lot in a neurotic panic over an unusual noise. Charles took time out of his busy day to reassure me and make sure I felt safe completing my trip!

Great experience from Abe and his crew. They got the brakes on my car fully replaced with good quality components for literally half what the dealer wanted, and were able to get me in and out same day. Great value and excellent service!
One of the only places in Lexington that I trust to work on my car. They’re always great about getting me in and out quickly and are amazing at explaining what the issue is and what can be done to fix it. Staff is great and friendly. I could not recommend them more.
Part two. I called Charles back and told him the codes it was getting and mentioned the large leak in the brake booster. He told me that they had not worked on the brake booster. I was told they had checked the brake booster in the beginning as they were trying to determine if the issue was the brake booster or the vacuum pump. He called me back later and told me that he had been able to contact Abe by Facebook messenger as he was on a cruise. Hmmmm previously I was told his uncle died. I mean neither is my business. I just pay attention to detail and if they will lie about this what else are they lying about. Anyway. I was told that since I was unhappy and I didn’t seem to trust them that Abe was declining to do any further work on my car. They had no idea what was still going on or if it was related to their work or not because they wouldn’t even look at it. I had the car in my possession for less than 10 min before the check engine light was on again and at the time that I first called Charles I had driven the car less than 100 miles. So much for their “warranty”. A warranty is worthless if the company refuses to honor it. I talked with Charles multiple times and told him that I want the parts that they took off of my car and I want any records they have on my car. They claim all they have is the invoice that they gave me. No notes from testing. No detailed records of the repair and he said he threw away the list I gave him. He claimed that all he had was the broken vacuum pump. I told him I wanted it. He told me not to come to the shop or he would call the police. Why? Because someone wants proof of what you really did to their car? I went there anyway and sure enough Charles did call the police. I was peaceful and only asking for the parts or the invoices to prove they had bought new parts. Charles refused to provide any of that. This place is shady and they did poor work and didn’t want to admit when I confronted them about it. The officer was told Abe was afraid I was going to sue him. Well guess what Abe. That’s exactly what I am going to do. I wouldn’t recommend your shop to anyone!! If you did the work prove that you did the work because as far as I am concerned the only thing that was maybe fixed is the vacuum pump but the brake booster still has an issue and the air intake system still has an issue and those were things I asked you to check from the very beginning.

His prices are beyond fair, the team works quickly, and the quality of work is phenomenal. Abe clearly cares about not only your car, but the person behind the wheel.
I had to stop by today due the bottom cover of my car flopping out. My car was fixed for free in under 20 minutes. I’ve also been there previously to have my breaks fixed. Again, he worked quickly and charged a fair price for replacing all 4 breaks.
He’s my hands-down go-to mechanic and Lexington is lucky to have someone like him taking care of us
I went here initially to deliver food to this crew. One of Abe's customers paid for the whole teams meal. That act of generosity influenced me to take my car there to replace my alternator. They took care of the problem within 4 hours. I thought my bill was going to be in the 600 range and it was only 300. I'm so thankful for these guys and can't recommend them enough. Their parking lot is usually filled up w customers so they don't need any good reviews but still had to give them their flowers. I can't thank them enough for everything.
I have been an Abe's customer/Subaru owner since 2010 and I will never go anywhere else. He and his staff are friendly and ethical and have an absolutely expert level knowledge of foreign autos.
Today I had Abe double check all the service needed for 66K miles and not only was the diagnosis complimentary, he assured me I didn't need anything except new front and rear wipers. When I said I'd go to Auto Zone for those he said good idea and they will also install them for you. Then he educated me on the life of the full synthetic oil I use, which I really appreciated as the information I found online from multiple sources was not going to be the best way to assure my car lives it's fullest life! I left feeling happy and secure about the continued care of my car. As usual there was no pushy upsell and no speaking down to me as a woman. They did exactly what they said they would do in the timeframe quoted when I made the appointment. And added bonus - his shop is clean and comfortable with nice furniture, a coffee bar and a big TV. So, really - if you've read this far - do yourself a favor and just call them. You will not be disappointed. A true Lexington gem. Abe - please never retire! ;)
I was facing several issues with my engine that would've probably ran me over $3k anywhere else. Abe and Charles took their time with my car to make sure they got everything right, and actually was able to bypass an issue saving me over $1,500!! You don't find honesty like that anymore. As soon as I called Abes Auto Repair I felt like I was in great hands and wouldn't be treated like I know nothing, or be taken advantage of as a female searching for auto repairs. I will be a lifetime customer of Abes and would recommend them to everybody. I am eternally grateful for them and the money they saved me as a 25 year old business owner just starting out. Take your car here, you won't be disappointed.
I am thrilled with the service I received from Abe’s. I’ve only ever driven two cars and they’ve both been Volvos. While they’re highly rated for safety, that comes with a price…and usually you pay that price in the form of increasingly expensive repair as the car ages. My current vehicle is a used car, but I’ve had it less than 2 years and it’s been out of commission for more time than it’s been on the road, unfortunately. So when my starter went out last year, I dutifully had it replaced (at a different shop). This past winter I prepared to leave for work one morning only to discover that my car was once again, dead in the water. After having to leave it sitting until finances could be more certain, I decided to have my car taken to Abe’s due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback I had seen about their fairness and honesty. On the morning I had it towed to his shop, he had the hood open and was already checking it out before they a)had it off the tow truck and b) before we had even left the lot! They called us the same day with the diagnosis (a BAD STARTER!) and said it might be worth contacting our former mechanic about the part’s warranty. Our former shop told us that while it was, indeed, under warranty, it would be at least 3 WEEKS before they could get to my vehicle. I understand that isn’t the mechanic’s fault, absolutely. However, Abe’s not only gave us a more than fair price for the replacement, when I asked about the timeline for repair, they said they could have it done no later than the following morning! They exceeded expectations and I had my car back that afternoon!
So, all that said, even if you don’t mind your current mechanic…you should give Abe’s a call regardless. Their customer service, honesty and quick turnaround time is unmatched. We won’t be taking this car anywhere else. Thank you, Abe’s!
On two different occasions now I have been amazed by the high level of service and professionalism at Abe’s. The first time they patched a tire for me on the fly at no charge before they even opened for the day. Yesterday I stopped in with a weird noise in my front passenger side wheel, they immediately diagnosed the problem as a missing brake caliper bolt (I had them done elsewhere the week before, a mistake I won’t repeat) and within 30 minutes he had the correct part delivered and installed. He will be getting all my business going forward and I will recommend him to everyone.
Abe’s is great. Both times I’ve gone in, I have been respected, understood, and talked to like a human being. They do not overcharge for services like some local places. They do what they can to help you out and are not pushy about doing extra services for your car. They have kept my poor Honda running longer than I thought it could. I will absolutely be back if I need car maintenance again!
Abe and his skilled team are great! They got my 08 Subaru Outback in quickly, fixed the exhaust system saving me money, performed a full tune up, fixed a leaking tire and buffed out some scratches, and I got it back running like a new car. Being new to Lexington and having an aging BMW is a scary thought when you need service.
I was very fortunate to find Abe and his team. The prices are fair, the work is outstanding but the best thing about Abe is the trust. Abe somehow manages to do everything that you would hope he could to service you as a customer.

Abe and his guys are the best. I absolutely believe that they are the most honest and trustworthy guys in town and have referred others to him. We own three vehicles that have over 150k miles. On many occasions I have brought a vehicle in expecting a huge costly repair when all the car needed was minor maintenance or part. I have not had to take our vehicles anywhere else because they can easily do most repairs in house. So, many many thanks go out to these guys and especially to Abe.
We took our 2003 Camry here to replace the passenger door, where someone had backed into it. Abe explained our options and price differences, along with what he recommended (not even the most expensive option.) The quality of work was impeccable, and the price was definitely economical.

I was passing through Lexington on business when the radiator in my rental was damaged by road debris. Abe's was the nearest open shop and they were nice enough to look at my car as soon as I got in. The owner was willing to quickly order parts and get the car fixed by the next day. But instead, he showed me how to use my credit card's rental insurance to cover the repairs for free through the rental car agency.
Abe's went out of their way to help me, even when it meant money out of their pocket.
I've been using Abe off and on since the mid 90's and every time I've been treated fairly and his work has been quality. I'm a better than average shade-tree mechanic and when possible, I typically do auto repair work myself. I'm less than trusting when I take my car to a mechanic, they often seem to waste more of my time than they save. In the last year, my wife has had her Lexus to Abe, a friend took his Subaru to Abe (on my recommendation) and I dropped off my old Buick to him in need of an oil leak repair. Every experience has been a positive one and that level of consistency is more than appreciated. Highly Recommended
