Took my 2003 VW Passat 4motion wagon GLX into lakeside today was quoted over the phone $550 dollars for a complete car before I took it in to them. My dad and I got there and pulled up on to the scale, I went the the window and gave the lady at the window the title and my ID and was asked if I was quoted a price in which I told her yes it was $550 for the car after that she said to come back up once the car was unloaded off the trailer to get paid.
We pulled up to the area for the loader to unload the car off the trailer (put the forks through the passenger side door window and the windshield to lift it off the trailer using the roof) after the car was set on the ground the guy used the loader to flip the car on its side to look to make sure the catalytic converters were still on the car. As he did this I did a thumbs up to verify the car was good or not and was we were able to head back to the scale house to get paid.
The loader operator opened the window on the loader and was trying to ask me a question so I walked over to him and was asked if one of the 2 catalytic converters that were on car was an aftermarket converter... I assumed that they were both oem VW converters that came with the car as I never replaced anything on the exhaust period sense I bought the car. The loader told me one was aftermarket and the other was oem and was told by the guy that I was going to be getting paid less then what I was quoted for because of it not being an original VW catalytic converter.
Not understanding what he meant I went back up to the scale house to get paid and the lady in the scale house proceeds to tell me that the loader operator called her over the radio stating I had an aftermarket catalytic converter on my car and I was now going to get only $271 (scrap price not complete car price now) for my car even though the car was complete but had 1 aftermarket catalytic converter on it and 1 original one .
I proceeded to ask the lady what was the problem with it as I was quoted the $550 for a "COMPLETE" car and all I kept being told by her was the car had to have all it's "ORIGINAL" parts on it (no aftermarket parts could be on the car) to be able to have them take it as a car and not just scrap price ($150 a ton for scrap bodies as of this review)
I started to have to argue with the lady stating I wasn't told any of this over the phone or when I got there and asked if their was a manager and was told I could go back over to the loader operator and discuss it with him or I could take the car back and not accept the $271 scrap price. I told the lady that the car is now no longer even fixable period sense the loader operator unloaded it with the forks and destroyed the body (this car had a bad engine but the body had no rust on it at all)
I told her I wanted to talk to the manager but never got them I had the guy next to her come to the window and proceed to tell me that the catalytic converters have to be original to the car and they are not part of the exhaust system which when I tried to correct the guy he refused to listen (was telling him that catalytic converters are part of the exhaust and I was being told they are not)
I had enough of the 10 minutes of arguing with these 2 people (my dad even went up to the window and asked so if you brought up a 50 year old car and wanted to bring it up to scrap it would it have to have all the original parts on it still and he was told that well almost every car that comes in here is usually all original even if it was 50 years old which is not true and a total lie) I said just give me the money and I'm not dealing with this anymore
So to end my review and waste of a day Don't bother doing any business with Lakeside Auto Recyclers as they are just a bunch of scammers and want to make as much profit as they can from you even if they quoted you a price and don't honor what they told you.
I went to elemental the day before with the same material stainless steel clean I had a 5 gallon bucket full about 100lb. and got $35 for it. Which was more than fair. The next day I had quite a bit more and lakeside told me that they paid 8 cents more per pound I went there with well over twice the amount that I got $35 for the day before and only got $26
I took in a good in a good size load 1100 - 1200 pounds they gave me 6 bucks which I gave back and told her there was a mistake she says they didn't get my weight coming in so I totally got robbed it's only about 70 bucks but still i'm thinking maybe I might have to rob them for 70 grand now eye for an eye
A friend of mine took a van here and was given a little over $600 and was told to go here not only suggested by my friend but, several others as well. I just got back and I felt like I just got screwed over badly. I brought in a 2003 Chevy avalanche which me and my friend that brought in the van both agree that my avalanche definitely weighs more than the van he brought in. I was given a “I’m stealing your money price”. I was only given $380! I wasn’t shooting for $600 but? I know that I should have been given way more than $380. I also feel like they stole from me and also I tried to explain but the lady inside said she couldn’t hear me and just kept saying “we go by weight” and wouldn’t let me speak. This place will steal your money. I drove an hour and 1/2 just because my friends recommended it. My friends deeply apologized for having to direct me to a place where they steal your money. my friends and many others I told this to, all agree that something isn’t right! I will share this story with others and warn them until they pay me the right amount! I will spread this info like wild fire.. i have never felt so betrayed in my entire life. Never again will I ever think about this place ever again!
Sold a car to them, paid the most out of about 15 places I called/emailed/texted for quotes. (Was emailed a quote $25 more than when I called, but still was the most out of all, by far). For some reason, they couldn't get through to my phone for some reason, but when I called they sent someone out within an hour to get the car from impound. Still don't know why they couldn't get through, but so thankful they came out and husband was able to get to work on time still! Thanks Lakeside!

Update: NHP just reviewed the rest area video of your driver almost hitting me in a cross walk under full excelleration. All I am going to say is good luck operating in Nebraska anymore.
Yes I had the unfortunate occasion to talk to the yard manager Brandon. He had a very condescending attitude. I am a local and am a person that visitor often ask what to do and were to go. I must say that I was excited going to Lakeside for the first time and seeing the selections and elated that its only 10 minutes away. The best part of the place is the inventory . The worst part is the ridiculous system you have to endure to check out. As well as Mr President Brandon's poor attitude!! WONT RETURN

I just had my dead 2004 Chevy Trailblazer picked up. Derek was unbelievably sweet. Not only did he offer to remove my plates for me, he also closed my gates when he left, replacing the stones, so the gate doesn’t fly open with the wind. Thank you, Lakeside and thank you Derek!!
Fast pickup on containers. Very professional from office staff to drivers to guys in the yard. A lot of us customers out here know you started out small years ago and see how you reinvested in your company from yard equipment to the trucks on the road . !!continued success
They picked up the wrong car from the towing lot and junked my car and are refusing to take responsibility for there mishap if you want to do business with a company that has integrity it is NOT these people, they've done this twice apparently according to the towers.
Always ready for how much metal I have I go here at least once a week and they always treat me good always ready to help unload my trailer would recommend lake side to anyone

Said they were gonna show up at 1 pm. Instead, they showed up 20 minutes early and rushed me through packing up my car. Ended up forgetting my garage door opener and car battery, which I needed for my used car I had already purchased
Nick was great to work with. The facility has been upgraded since I saw it years ago and they have a great set up for people bringing in scrap! I would highly recommend Lakeside for any of your scrap metal needs!
To Nick Jr, Lindy, or Mike: We were referred to Lakeside due to the recent flooding. We have several rail gondolas full of scrap. We had some very general questions. Due to the volume I was instructed to ask for Nick Hanson. We were hung up on multiple times as soon as I asked for Nick. Unbelievable we called back two more times thinking there most be a service issue. But no some young lady is doing her job very rudly. Please hire professionals, whomever that young lady was that hung up on me and my staff just cost you business. Please do better we will be using Alters Recycling we will travel a little further for better service.
Derek was extremely helpful and empathetic in picking up a wrecked truck we had. His customer service was outstanding and so was the dispatch lady. Will definitely recommend them in the Future.
Everything was super fast and easy! The tow truck driver was within 20 min of the estimated time. They made the sale in less than 5 min and were on their way. They offered a much better price than other places I called. I’d use them again.
Was referred to them by a friend who has had a great experience every time she uses them unfortunately that's not the case with me. Have had to call 3 times over the course of 2 days for someone to pick up my vehicle keep getting told they are coming and no one ever shows up. Lousy sevice if you ask me. Would give 0 stars if possible! Do not recommend
We LOVE coming here. We have come so much that we know most of the staff and they know us. They are all so kind, they make you feel like you are apart of the family. Brittany is so personable, we smile everytime we see her working! One thing that makes them different from the rest, is they take time out of their day to show their appreciation to each customer by doing something special regularly. We always continue to recommend friends and family to lakeside. There just is no place like it!
Went scrapN with one of my friends 2day 2 help get rid of our old washer and dryer among a few other metal items taking up space. Got paid to do it too! Had a good experience. Friendly staff. In and out quickly.
Was quoted $350 for our truck, we said we'd look around some more for prices so they offered us $400. When we drove down there with the truck they wouldn't give us more than $275 for the vehicle. When we said we'd have to discuss that because it wasn't what we were quoted, they went ahead and smashed the truck so we couldn't drive away. Rip off artists. Owner settled finally for $325, less than the original quote. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER! Should have called the cops and may still do so
These guys are amazing!!! My car was off of 203rd and dodge and Upullit made me an offer but never came to get that car after 3 days of hounding them down. I called lakeside and they not only offered me more but was actually going to call me to schedule the pick up! Thank you so much for all of your help, the spectacular service and the check. You got a customer for life and I will always recommend.
The guy who came and got my car was nice enough and they gave me a pretty good price. However, the girl who I spoke to on the phone was AWFUL!! She was incredibly rude to me for absolutely no reason. I would've given them more stars if it hadn't been for her and her horrible customer service skills.
