The food is absolutely trash,all comes from sysco truck and burgers have cheap plastic like cheese and basic super cheap almost plastic like buns
The kitchen is disgusting and never cleaned
They are the kindest family and the nicest place to go after a nice battle from our beautiful Palisades access. For any paddlers on the other side of the river, they have a wonderful parking there and it's a great way to walk across the bridge later and enjoy some great music on Sundays in the summertime.
Ate here after kayak river float from Palisades to the Sutliff bridge (nice float, btw). Food was tasty and came out fast. Friendly staff. We sat on the patio with nice river views.
This is a pretty awesome place! Food was hot and fresh and good service. Not fancy by any means. Cash only, no cards and phone service isn’t good. But this is a good place!
Delicious breaded pork tenderloin that’s not too heavy or greasy but perfect. Friendly staff, unique atmosphere, and low prices. Overall great place to eat.
We’ve been coming here for years, and it’s always such a special place for us. We have a lock on the bridge from our dating anniversary, and this trip we came to add our engagement and wedding locks. We brought in a 30+ person table on Monday the 28th of July, before our welcome dinner, and the staff handled it perfectly! Service was fast, friendly, and attentive, even with such a large group. It made the night feel even more special. Thank you for helping us create another great memory!

Love this little diner/ bar. Watching the sunset on the Cedar River while enjoying delicious food. Fair prices, excellent service. Always busy no matter what day of the week it is.
Very old tavern with great food. The tenderloin was great. They have daily specials, some of our party had the roast beef open face sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was very good and reasonably priced. Neat little place.

Great hangout for locals and those traveling by as well! Always some interesting stories being swapped between the regulars and those coming to enjoy the historic Sutliff Bridge and views of the Cedar River.
One of Iowa's icons. They make great fried foods and have a good supply of beers. Everyone is friendly. It's a wonderful paradigm of rural America. An escape from the globalist's anti freedom agenda.
I was at Baxa's to pick up my son and brother, who were kayaking. I ordered a sandwich and fries, fine but not super impressive. I hear the fried catfish is great, and next time, I'll get that. But the owners, who are staffing, were friendly and helpful. Their kids were outside catching tree frogs, and locals were rubbing elbows with the bikers, cyclists, and other folks enjoying the summer day. Dollar bills cover the ceiling, and the porch has seating, so you can watch the river. The bridge across the street reportedly floated away in a flood but was fetched and put back. I was there on a day when there was a tractor ride. One side of the road was all about the motorcycles, and the other was classic tractors. So, on the Midwest atmosphere, Baxa's checks every box.

Good selection of food!! Got the BLT sandwich, I LOVED it. Good portions, great prices!!! Has a pool table, to you can play while you wait for your food. Has a patio, or you can eat across the way on the bridge!! Truly a beautiful place!!!!
Great food, drinks and they were having a live band outside when we were there! Beautiful river view from the bridge that you can walk out on with your drinks!

This is one of Iowa's Historic Sites in Sutliff. Wonderful place to visit for some get away fun for the day. Great comfort food we all love. I had a Catfish basket. It was GOOOOOOD! They had a live band playing for the people. I will be back for more. If u havent been here before, please plan a trip for the day to just come here and have a good time with good people from ALL OVER!! The staff was very attentive to everyone's needs. A good walk across the Sutliff Historical Bridge to look at the River flow beneath your feet. U will love it!
Came down after a long day of canoeing the Cedar River and was blown away from the amazing service and food. Jumbo tenderloin was jumbo and delicious, one of the few places on earth that I could find cottage fries as well. Drink selection was good. Ability to eat on the bridge Sutliff Bridge was also very cool. If your rolling through, definitely stop and experience some Iowa charm and history!
We stopped in on a busy Sunday afternoon after visiting Sutliff Cider and were greeted by freindly, hardworking staff and were surprised by the great air conditioning and even better pie =D . Was also surprised by how much room was I side and on porch, good place for a get together.
Always have an enjoyable time at Sutliff's. This weekend the weather couldn't have been better. The band's were good on both nights, the gals running the show are always a joy and of course there is always the bridge over the river...
C'mon! Get off your duffs, whether by bike or kayak. Swing on over and give Sutliff's a try. You won"t regret it.
We've been here many times and are never disappointed with the food. I will forewarn you if you come on a busy night you do wait a while for your food so we suggest ordering an appetizer. The staff is always friendly. The Baxa Burger is one of our favorite go to items. The jumbo tenderloin is as big as the plate and is not overly breaded and has great flavor; it could feed two people. Thursday night special is chicken fried chicken or chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and is super delicious. This place only takes cash or check (no credit or debit cards) but there is an ATM machine there for your convenience.
