My cousin slid off the road avoiding a deer. Richter and Son towing were prompt and professional. I think Dylan was our helper. He was very nice and got the car out without any damage! Great job and I would definitely use their service if ever needed!
We went with this company based on the good reviews but had a terrible experience. They came out for an air leak, realized a part needed ordering, next morning got the part and stripped the air tank threads while installing it. The mechanics admitted fault and said they'd fix it at no additional cost and would work after hours to get our guy up and running, but then the owner, Gary, claimed the threads were already stripped (even though they removed the fitting) and made us pay for the extra time and labor. We lost three days and were charged for the extra labor and mileage costs caused by their own mistake.
I could not recommend Richter & Son Towing more! Scary tire blow out on a busy section of I-80. They answered right away, were so kind and patient. Steven even gave me some recommendations to call to plan getting the tire fixed. He was so nice when he came and got us! Making sure to keep us safe in the heavy traffic, made sure that we were taken care of when he dropped us and the car off before he left. I'm situations like this, you want a patient and kind person and Steven was just that! So thankful!
My truck was towed to Richter & Son late on a Friday night and I was concerned about having to pay storage fees over the weekend. I contacted Greg early Saturday morning and he was so willing to work with me to find a solution to get the truck picked-up outside of their regular business hours to save me some money. Greg was so accommodating and went out of his way to help me out. Typically, the circumstances around needing towing services are stressful so it was great to work with a company that was compassionate and helpful. Thank you so much Richter & Son!

I can’t say enough good things about Richter & Son Towing. Over the 4th of July weekend, when most places were closed or charging outrageous rates, Greg went above and beyond to help us. He had already closed up shop for the night and sent everyone home, but when I called about towing my motorhome from Ankeny to Griswold (110 miles), he *reopened* and sent out a truck to get us.
Not only was the service prompt and professional, but the cost was also *hundreds* less than the nearest competitor. It’s rare these days to find a business owner willing to go that extra mile—especially on a holiday weekend.
If you ever need a tow, especially for something as big as a motorhome, don’t even bother calling around—just call Richter & Son. You won’t find better service or better people.

I sent a driver to change a bad brake chamber and ended up paying almost $500. The brake chamber usually go for $150-$175 cost me $250, there was of course shop supply for $25 and "administration fee" of $35 and than tax on top of it all. When I asked what is "administration fee" the guy couldn't answer. Such a rip off!
My husband and I were stranded along Rt 80 East, mile marker 73 Iowa. We have a Nissan Titan XD diesel with a Cirrus 620 truck camper on it. We were along the road nearly 3 hours before Richter & Son arrived, however this was NOT the fault of Richter & Son, the wait was the fault of the insurance company who didn’t put our information in correctly and the fact that our truck & camper height was 12’ 4” plus the total height once loaded into a flatbed. We were so happy to see Mr. Richter pull in he quickly got our truck & camper loaded onto a flat bed. Since our height while on the flatbed was so high, Mr. Richter had to take us back to his shop where he switched trucks so we would make it under the traffic lights on the way to the hotel where he would drop us and the truck off which was 80 miles from his home, he had to drive back home after this and night was already upon us. What a wonderful man, we talked the whole time while in the tow trucks with him. He gave us some suggestions for dinner, where to buy a new truck if we decided to go that route, even answered some questions we had about farming in the area. He even asked us if we needed the restroom and offered us water while at his shop switching trucks. He definitely went above and beyond with our tow that evening.
The next day, we called and asked his advice about a tow yard near our hotel that might be able to store our truck until the carrier could pick it up and haul it back to Pennsylvania. He gave us a suggestion and said if that didn’t work out to call him back and he would come pick it up and store it until we got a carrier. Luckily we found a carrier and didn’t need to store the truck.
We HIGHLY recommend Richter & Son!

My daughter & her boyfriend were heading to CO to visit us. I-80 was icy and they slid off the road down an embankment, thankfully unharmed. Called AAA. After waiting 2.5 hrs, still no AAA!! A kind Sheriff stopped to check on them. They told them how long they’d been waiting. He said AAA was pretty much worthless in the area. He called Richter & Son who arrived in 15 minutes; pulled them up onto the road, and they’re finally back on their way to CO. Thank you to the Sheriff and Richter & Son!

These guys are professionals! In less than 10 minutes they towed me out of a tough spot in the embankment - ditch on I-80 in deep snow. The operator was courteous and professional. Just fantastic help at a stressful time!
The guy that towed our semi after we wrecked , was amazing .. They definitely have a hard and dangerous job..He even gave us a ride to our hotel and got us to safety. Very nice Guy.. Definitely recommend this towing company i would give 10 stars💯💯👍
The circumstances around our interaction with Richter & Son are related to a vehicle we were having shipped across the country. The carrier company who was responsible for this ultimately were involved in an accident, crashed the car, abandoned it, lied about it, and then it was towed by the state police to/by Richter & Son's tow yard.
The first we heard of this was when the carrier company came back to try and pick the vehicle up, and drop off a wrecked car on our driveway. Richter & Son knew something was fishy, must have looked up our contact information by VIN or license plate, and told us what was going on. They texted me photos and helped me figure out how to get the police reports. We really appreciated this. They were the only honest, solid, good people we interacted with during this whole misadventure. Thanks guys.
Worked with them through progressive roadside assistance and they were exceptionally helpful. Their timing was good and even when I had had made mistakes on the claim, were willing to help see to a solution.
