Pauls auto loves to charge you full price on used nasty 20 year old parts that should be cheaper because they’re used nasty and 20 years old but i guess they believe putting people down brings them up so thats what they do every day to people who may not know better

On Tuesday, 9-16-25 I called Paul's to inquire about a manual transmission for a Honda Civic that I had seen online. I was told that it was $300 with an additional $125 if it was removed by Paul's. I told the gentleman that I would not be able to come out until Friday 9-19-25. He was pretty sure it would still be there since it was a manual transmission. On Friday, I went to Paul's with a mechanic friend. I told the man behind the counter why I was there and he said he didn't believe they had any manual transmission Hondas. I explained the earlier phone call. He looked up the information in their computer and still said no manual tranny. My friend asked if we could still go out in the yard to look around and that is what we did. We found the car I had seen online and it was the manual tranny. We went back to the counter and told the employee. I asked to confirm the price and he said it was $800. What? That's not what I was told on the phone. Then he went to talk to someone in a back room and returned with a $175 price. I then inquired again about having Paul's remove the part. I was told it was $125 but if it was removed and turned out to be cracked or bad in some way the $125 would not be returned. I understood this. Someone spent time and sweat working on the removal. I asked how long it would be. He said there was a couple of customers ahead of me and it wouldn't be until later that day. I went home. At about 4pm I got a phone call from Paul's. The employee had walked out to the car to remove the part and claimed it had holes in it. My mechanic friend did not see any holes but ok. So the employee did not do anything to the car. Did not even turn a wrench. Walked 50 yards from the office, had a look and went back. And they insist on keeping the $125 I gave them to remove a part. They offered to look at other Paul's locations to find a transmission, but they didn't even know they had this one. Obviously, their computer inventory is not accurate or kept up to date. I just think it is ridiculous for them to not return my money when they didn't perform the service.

These people are crazy. Today I went to buy a damaged engine to repair it, and it turns out they wanted to sell it to me for $1,850. They want to make money at the expense of others… And I think the owner or some supervisor at Paul's Aunt Parts should be there, since there are many who want to take advantage and make extra money for themselves.

To the diy’rs in the surrounding area, Paul’s auto yard Merrillville to me, is the place for the parts you may need for your Vehicle. The customer service I received from Jordan was superb! I did not expect a call back from them, and defiantly not a week later. The lot is in order, with cars easily accessible and again, customer service is horrible nowadays so it’s awesome when you get good service. Btw I live closer to the lake Paul’s auto. They have good ppl there as well, they may want to adapt the order and customer service as well. They might need to catch up but for now merrillville Paul’s is my go to. Thanks Jordan

Bought a grille from Paul's Auto Yard. They shipped it and everything was fine. I noticed I received the wrong part that i was needing. But i called up and spoke to Ethan and he fixed the issue with no headaches at all. Its hard to find companies now a days that will correct a issue to make it right. Yard was amazingly clean Employees where super helpful lots of new cars and parts the parts puller was even nice enough to bring the part up to the desk for me and let me just say the loader operator got the car I needed up in the air in a timely matter very satisfied

Shane helped me initially set the appointment but after that, the communication was nonexistent. Pick up was supposed to be at 11am, I arrive 10 minutes early. 11:15 comes, I call Shane to figure out where his driver is. He tells me he will call his driver and then I hear nothing for over an hour and a half. I called again and shane did not answer so I left my phone number for a call back. 10 minutes later I get a phone call from his driver but not Shane. Most unprofessional people I've had the displeasure of working with.

Terrible customer service. Representative told us a tow could pick up our junk car before 4pm. We called back and she stated we needed to schedule for tomorrow even though it was before 4. This was fine however we told her we could do any time and the earlier the better. She had attitude and stated she didn't know our schedule and I had to give her a time even though I don't know their schedule. I said 7am and she stated they don't open until 8am. I said 8am and she stated the drivers need time to get to the place so 8am won't work. We then agreed on 9am which all of this could have easily of been avoided if she simply told us 9am would be the earliest we could do. The attitude we recieved from this lady was very unprofessional and I would not recommend.

They had exactly what we needed and the car was easy to find thanks to them listing the row it was located on. They might not have the spot number listed like some salvage yards but they make up for it in friendliness, better pricing and a little extra space between cars for easier access to the interior. They even have a portajohn for when nature calls while you are picking your parts. Totally worth the 2.5 hour drive for a hard to find part at a decent price.

well, beggars can't be chosers, right? don't really have a choice, but do i like them?no. the first time for a back light was fast enough, but they want over a $100 this time, or so he said. he couldn't get it to me friday, and so now he's making me wait through all of friday's orders and they're closed on sunday, naturally. to think i'm doing this myself for midas....

Alot of nice cars that people recked that's in here. Was able to find a few new parts for my vehicle. No matter what year I have if it's a newer year same make & model I'm taking the parts, not letting new parts go to waste. Very great place to come shopping for parts for your vehicle. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Been going here for at least 2 years. Recently the store was sold and boy have they literally SUCKED. Today a white guy went in and purchased a bumper for a 2015:Toyota Prius and he was charged $75 with taxes. My husband brought up a 2014 kia aka a foreign bumper and was told $250. $250 for a junkyard bumper that I had we had remove myself? Gtfoh. A freaking brand new aftermarket one is $250. My husband even said something about the price difference. He immediately left there and went to another junkyard and paid $55 for the same bumper. A kia is a car with plenty of parts available so $55-75 is standard price. Yeah I guess they are pricing based on ethnicity and not straightforward pricing. Paul's.

Very rude and unprofessional. I was hung up on and redirected. The guy also talked with such attitude and lack of care or interest of me calling back due to the urgency of a replacement rim for my vehicle. If customer service or courtesy is a plus for who you conduct business with this definitely isn't the place for that!

Desk help was satisfactory. After driving miles to get parts which were verified by phone, both cars I looked at had already been stripped. Waste of time. Kudos to the friendly, helpful employees not sitting behind the desk, much appreciated.

If you have never been there, here is the way it works. Check in at counter inside let them know what part you are looking for and for what vehicle, year, make and model. They will give you a receipt-like printout and on that printout, it will have the row# where the vehicle is located, year and color of vehicle along with another number. You walk in with your tools, you do not drive in. Some vehicles have stickers on them with information on the receipt you are given. I rate them a two star because they act like you've been there before even after l asked how their process worked, l was directed to my receipt given. Some of the rows are not marked. They mark their rows with a green sticker on the first vehicle along the walkway. After searching for a vehicle at and unmarked area, l asked an employee if he knew where row 101 was and he directed me to another employee and when l asked the other employee, all he did was pointed me to an area (no words out of him). I finally found the vehicles l was looking for but the part needed was gone. They do not keep inventory of parts, only vehicles. During my visit, two other possible customers were in same situation as l. I received more help from them than from employees. The process is fairly simple once you've been there.

Rudy and his yard man were very helpful! They went above and beyond to help! We were in and out in 30 minutes and had the piece we needed. Provided impeccable service! Highly recommend and will return if necessary!

Horrible service. I called in looking for specific parts. Rudy told me they had the exact parts I was looking for and that for an additional fee they could take the parts off for me. He gave me great deals without me even asking for any deals. I was excited. He told me all I had to do was put a deposit down to hold the parts so I did. The next day he told me that one of the parts I needed was not there after all. I was little disappointed but I said fine I'll take what you do have. Two days later he told me the window on one car door that I needed was broken. At this point I'm like ok this is nothing like he said in the beginning but I did tell him I'll get the door anyways because I could just replace the window. I sent my mom to pick up the parts for me but I told her dont pay without sending me pics first. She sent pics and the items he had was nothing like I requested. I needed a leather seat and he said he had it. It was cloth..... I needed a black door and the door was blue.... I'm like dude were you listening at all. Then he told me a totally different price for labor once my mom went to the store than he told me over the phone...... So I just got my deposit back and went elsewhere. Rudy was nice yet misleading. Never doing business here again.

Customer service needs some work (One of the front-desk employees is constantly snark), and their estimated repair times are significantly off (Estimated repair of a week for a vehicle, two weeks later, and no work has been done with it). However, their prices are very fair (They're open to negotiation at times), and they perform good work. The rest of the staff are friendly (Besides the one person that works at the front desk) and knowledgable.
