I-80 Auto Parts JunkYard in Gary (IN)

Shady. Shady. Shady!!! I bought a transmission and had a reputable shop do the install... turns out the shifting Fork inside the transmission was busted so reverse and park wouldn't work. After paying the shop to do the labor $1,100 they finally sent a replacement transmission which cost another $1,100 to do another swap only after being extremely persistent. Turns out that transmission had the same issue!!! The shop actually brought me in and showed me both times that the shifting fork and gear was grinded down bad and told me they've never seen anything like that the only way that can happen is if they're dragging them through the yard in turn ripping them apart and then selling them to customers... fortunately the shop was awesome and was able to repair that second transmission it cost me another $600 bucks and I-80 will not accept any responsibility at all if you have any options, any at all besides this place take them!

Terrible customer service! Ordered a back door and was sent a sliding door. Never received an invoice or receipt. Had to pay out of pocket to ship it back only to find out that they have a "25% restocking fee" that we were never made aware of (no receipt, no invoice, 0 attempt to inform us of said fee). Only after calling for 4 days straight was I able to speak with our sales rep Fernando who said he would refund us. After 3 weeks of us calling them they say we are not entitled to a refund because the fee was stated on the receipt that we did not receive until 2 weeks after the return.

Only cause you have to give a star to review. I ordered from here because of the mechanic I was working with. The transmission didn't even work when installed. They sent another one after a ton of mix ups and way more fun(sarcasm) than necessary. I got another mechanic to try and install the second one they sent. When the mechanic tried to install he discovered it was cracked. They then tried to claim the mechanic dropped the transmission. Luckly the mechanic had video recordings of the shop and shared them with me and the guys at I-80. Who then came up with a brilliant(sarcasm) plan to swap out the cases of the transmission. The mechanic didn't specialize in this so after reaching out to mechanics that did I ran into one that had had this same issue with I-80 who made it clear to me to get my money back. I was informed that I-80 refuses to refund when they know they can't provide adequate parts then hope you get frustrated and move on. That shop recommended what he had to do which was initiate a chargeback. I'm doing that now and will take legal action if need be. But this is not a place to get parts. I've been buying used parts for years and have never been swindled like this before. Don't shop here for large crucial car parts.

Verified my part and had it in hand before giving a yes to having it. I don’t know why they have any bad reviews, but I can tell you that they were excellent all around for me. I would recommend getting a part that I’m interested in getting, again!

DON't BUY FROM THIS SELLER. Ordered a door to my mechanic. The door came damaged. They would only refund 60$ out of 450$ saying it could be buffed out. It could not be buffed and and cost me over 60$ for the mechanic to attempt to buff. Almost sure based off the way it was packaged and the scratches on the door. The door was packaged damaged.

TERRIBLE SOLD ME A TRANSMISSION THATS CRACKED AND TOOK 2 weeks on a refund after trying to bring me another transmission instead of a refund would not recommend even if your mechanic sends you please read the reviews very poor service

Been dealing with i-80 for about 3 years now, and from Steve in parts being absolutely great and kind with every phone call , makes me believe he really cares about this company and customers . Delivery drivers are just as nice and wonderful to be around as well, highly recommend i-80 and their services :)

I had a great experience with Rich from I-80 Auto Parts. I was looking for a specific headrest for a vehicle for a customer. Rich went above and beyond to help me. He even went out in the yard and sent me pics of the headrest from all angles before mailing it out in order to make sure it was satisfactory. And then he called me to ask me to check out the pics so he didn't miss the FedEx guy and delay my shipment an extra day. This is customer service above and beyond. Rich is the MAN! Thank you Rich!

The worst junkyard ever don’t even think about buying parts from them specially, don’t ever deal with Isabella I wish I can put zero star

Found this place while looking for the part I needed online. They returned calls promptly and pulled the part right away. I'd been having a rough day and just barely made it there before closing; the guy who carried the part out to my car was super nice, and it honestly turned my whole day around. Very easy to work with.

Purchased a engine on February the 19th online through ebay. I told them that I would be picking up the engine but I didn't tell them that I was coming the next day drove 7 and a half hours from Nashville. Well when I arrived the engine was not ready but Rich was extremely helpful and he and the guys made sure I got my engine before closing time that day!

Called first time, got hung up on accidentally. Called back again and eternal hold. Hung up, called third time and got put on hold again for over 5 min. I'm done

Called about a brake caliper and told me they had one. Drove 30 minutes one way to pay for the part. They informed me they had to take it off the car, then would call the next day to let me know that the part was ready. Not a problem. No call the next day, not a problem. Called on the 2nd day and told me the part was ready to be picked up. Great. Drove 30 min one way to pick the part up. Signed all the paper work and told me to go to the garage to pick it up. Handed the paper work to the guy, he tells me "we don't have it." Go to the front desk, guy says, "oh, yea, it says that the order was resolved, the car didn't have the part in the first place. Then waited 15 minutes to refund my money. 2 hours of my life I can't get back. Don't sell parts you don't have.

Dont buy from these guys , I bought a transmission and they told me that they test it out and it good ,but once I paid 800 to get it put into my car it only last for 2 months, they are scammers, and they only reason they got one star because u have to rate at least one star , Waste of time and money do not shop with these guys

Good place for parts. I come here often for all my vehicles. The folks here are always helpful regardless of how busy it is.

Had an amazing experience with this company.... I went in to buy a rim for my son's car because his was damaged. The guy behind the desk was super nice he said I told them to give me the one with the best tire and that's exactly what they did and now my son has his room replaced and he has a good tire on there so I'm truly thankful for my experience!

I found them on car-part.com and they showed that they have the parts I needed. I called and spoke to Bobby. He said they have my parts and required $100 deposit to pull the parts ahead of me arriving. Since I had to drive a long distance I gave the required deposit. When I arrived they only had 1 of the 4 parts they said they had. I ended up getting just the hood, which was not in the condition described over the internet or phone. I would have given 1 star, but I am giving 2 stars because I bought 1 of the 4 parts. While I was waiting for my turn, the customer ahead of me was complaining that he was there for the 3rd time and they still had the wrong transmission waiting for him. They do have parts but be aware that it may take some time to get what you are looking for.

Who would imagine that a salvage yard would have exemplary customer service?! Steve went above and beyond to find the perfect part for my son’s car. Not only did he find it, he walked us through the whole process, sending pictures and confirming that we were buying the right thing. What a great service. Thank you!

You would think they would have a dedicated quiet office area for taking phone calls where they can hear you and you don't have to repeat yourself everytime you say something. I tried this place years ago and thought I'd try one more time and both times just seem too unprofessional for me.

Terrible experience. We were sold a bent rim so damaged that tire barn refused to put it on our car in good conscious. There's a reason they put a giant red stamp of NO RETURNS on your receipt. It's so they can sell that terrible rim again in exchange for store credit you'll never want to use. It took us hours of driving between locations to find a replacement and no shop in a 20 mile radius is as terrible as I80 Auto Parts.

!!!PEOPLE JUST LOOK AT SOME OF THE REVIEWS!! THESE PEOPLE TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WRONGDOINGS!! I ORDER A TRANSMISSION ALMOST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK THE GUY SAID IT WOULD TAKE BETWEEN 2 TO 3 BUSINESS DAYS TO HAVE IT PULLED OUT AND SHIPPED WITH A TRACKING NUMBER SO AT MONDAY OF NEXT WEEK CAME AND I DIDN'T SEE ANYTING COMING SO I CALLED THE GUY WHO TOOK MY ORDER TO ASK HIM ABOUT MY ORDER AND HE SIMPLY SAID OH YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK TO START WORKING ON YOUR ORDER SO I TOLD HIM TO CANCEL THE ORDER SO NOW ONLY GOD KNOWS WHEN I WILL RECEIVE MY FULL REFUND👈!!!

I paid for a transmission that was advertised at a certain number of miles. However, I got home and Carfaxed the VIN number and it came up with some red flags regarding its actual mileage. I called Russ and asked if he could cancel the transaction as it was still pending, and he actually did it, nearly instantly in fact. The facility is about average for a salvage yard, and some of the office staff may not come off as friendly as you'd hope, but at least in my very limited experience, seems like a decent place.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE WORST SERVICE EVER AT THIS JUNKYARD I CALLED SPOKE WITH LADY NAME BETH THERE FRIDAY 4/8 about a trans for my car I called back that Monday 4/11 sent my card info confirm order they had 3 trans on part website it says they where tested I called her week straight nothing called her every hour on hour nothing the following week she stated they tested all 3 trans they are all bad but it says they are tested on website she tell me 4/22 that they don’t have one after my customer have been waiting for there car to be repaired instead of tellin me they don’t want to deliver trans from Indiana to Aurora!! Horrible Horrible Service!! Think TWICE

I was skeptical because of the reviews but they had my brake caliper and I was able to get my car back up and running thank you .

If I could choose a negative score I would. I will never do business with this company again. I ordered a set of cylinder heads from these guys 2 weeks ago and I still don't have a good set. first they sent me two cracked heads after waiting almost a week for them. And every time I call they tell me they will call me back in 2 minutes and they never get back to me unless I call them. So I decide to go there to since can't get answers over the phone and the guy behind the counter tells me there not gonna be done today because the heads are in a van and they have to pull the motor to take the heads off, but this is the same exact excuse they gave me before they finally sent the first set of cracked heads. So I cancelled the order and went across the street to i94 auto parts and they told me they had to pull the heads but they could have them for me in an hour. So I went back two hours later and picked them up and they were cheaper, I wish I would have went there in the first place. P. S. This is not the first problem I have had with i80 almost every time I shop there I have some sort of problem but I'm done with them now, there are way to many junk yards for them to act like they are the only one.

Ordered parts online and it has been over 2 months and still have not received them. Have called many time to resolve the issue or to get a refund and every time get placed on hold for no one to return. We deal with many auto wreckers and this place is by far the worst.
