The towing service was fine but they changed prices on me. I needed a tow to my mechanic and he recommended this place. They gave me a price over the phone I said okay. When we arrived at the destination the tow truck driver upped the price. I explained I got a quote over the phone he said "I don't know what he told you but the price is this". Personally I wouldn't trust them again.
Scammers, unprofessional , and super rude and also give you indirect answers on purpose and act dumb when you confront them i needed a wedge out the snow, he comes and tows the car i tell him i didn’t need a tow can i drive home and he says “well im getting you out of this spot” a super indirect answer and puts my car on the truck i dont even live 2 mins away from where this happened either then he makes me walk home in -6 weather after already waiting 2 hours for him to come, says i cant get in with him either and he wont take my car off the truck because there’s “nothing he can do” he “has to tow it”. They do everything wrong besides getting more money out of you don’t trust Jordan at all or any of these goofy mfs that work here they try their best to take advantage of you to the fullest call at your own risk!
If I could rate this 0 stars, I absolutely would. I wouldn’t recommended this shady, unprofessional, pathetic towing company to anyone. Save your time and find other options, unless you want your vehicle to end up with more damage than what it originally had.
If I could give a negative star this would be the place. Knowingly working in a profession where people are likely coming from a traumatic situation results in some compassion for people who never intended to be customers. After a car accident from weather conditions this was the closest tow yard. I was not able to go directly there -even through it wouldn’t have matter because they were closed- when I called about coming in on the same day the car was brought to the yard “I’m not there and won’t be until after Tuesday so you need to wait” (this is a Sunday morning) then when I get to the yard Wednesday afternoon there was no clear indicator in where to go. He was beyond rude when I called for clarity “go to the tow truck, it’s a tow yard” where there are multiple buildings and trucks. Then he proceeded to smoke a cigarette while staring me up and down. Would recommend he attended a class on respect, customer service, and common courtesy.
I wish I could give negative stars for the most ignorant way I was treated and the joke of customer service from Tommy ( the new owner) is after my car was towed here due to a driver falling asleep and hitting me on the expressway. My car was towed since the ambulance took me to the hospital. I called to inquire about the process for getting my car out of the tow yard and Tommy the new owner with a curt ignorant attitude said, “well you owe me money!” I was just involved in a very scary accident that turned my entire day upside down and this is how I was spoken to. I am appalled to know that the Chobar’ name is being tarnished by this low class excuse of a business owner. I know for a fact that Mr. Chobar would be appalled to know what has happened to his respectable business. Oh and really 325 cash only to tow my car 5 miles what a joke
Charged me $200 to move car .0001 miles. Miscommunication on where they could deliver my car. Found a towing company that would deliver car to actual location for less than $200, completely absurd. Avoid at all costs. Tow truck driver was also giving attitude, just terrible service overall.

they got there within 15 minutes of my call it was very impressive by the time I got out of the car they already were ready to go and had everything hooked up
Upcharged bad, said to drive half a mile to tow my car was 200$ and charged 100 for overnight stay. even state police said it shouldn’t of been over 200$ for total cost. and the weirdo driver touched and moved some of my belongings in my car.
Our truck slid off an icy frontage road and Tommy Chobar happened to be passing by at the same time. We flagged him down and he got us out right away. Very nice and professional. Would definitely recommend!
Chobars saved the day!!! My daughter's car died on country road at 1am and I actually had talked to a different tow company who said they would be there at 530am. I was so worried county cops would have towed first and I have no idea where to even begin to locate car. After no response from 1st company by 9am, I called Chobar and he came and picked up immediately and brought to service shop. Thanks again, will highly recommend!
On one of the coldest nights and in the middle of a snowstorm when all the other towing companies refused to come out, Chobar's came out and helped me get my sons car home. The driver was very friendly and the service was not overpriced. I would definitely recommend this company if you need a tow!
My car suddenly went out of commission yesterday and so I called Chobar's: the closest tow to me. They took a while to come but they had already informed me of it because all their trucks were in Elgin at the time, I said it was no problem since I no longer had anywhere I needed to be. A few hours later the driver showed up and he was very rude. Kept his headphones in while speaking to me, didn't even acknowledge me when he first arrived and didn't seem to believe me when I told him what the issue was with my car.
I told him it was stuck in park and he said he needed to look on his phone to search a way to put it in neutral or else there was nothing to do. After sitting on his phone for a total of one minute he said he couldn't help and left. Mind you the whole interaction lasted less than five minutes while I had waited hours.
After waiting over an hour for a tow the driver was rude and unprofessional. As a single woman the worst feeling in the world is being stranded and the one person you call to help makes the situation worse. I now have damage to my vehicle. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.....
These guys have gone completely above and beyond! It’s never a good feeling to be in a scary position but they came through more than they EVER needed to. I will always be so grateful for they’re help. Restored my faith that there are truly good people out there. Thank you again!
After I got in a accident a couple years ago these guys stole my stuff they took my chargers, my phone, my vape pen and other stuff that was still in my car. So maybe a sub totally of $700 or more they stole. They also intentionally close around 3 pm after most people get off work so they can charge more for another day the car is there. They are not to be TRUSTED. They are scammers. Mark my words they will F..k You. Also I’m pretty sure the 5 start reviews are fake accounts made by the scumbag owner.
We called Chobar's Towing this morning for a jump start due to a dead battery and within 30 minutes we were back on the road. Professional and helpful when suggesting the type of battery to purchase and even offered a few recommendations as to where to shop.
I want to start by thanking Jordan the young man that towed my vehicle on 01/03/2020. This young man was great. I was a nervous wreck because my brakes gave out and almost got in a car accident. I was afraid to drive it so I called Chobar's towing. I didn't know what to do I had never had my car towed before and didn't know the procedures. He was able to calm me down and explained to me what I needed to do. I was telling him how I had just spent money on getting my brakes done that same day in the morning and now I had to drop more money to get it towed to the mechanic that fixed my brakes. That's when he told me that some insurance cover tows and will reimburse what I pay for the tow. I called my insurance and sure enough I have road side assistance and they said they will reimburse me the towing fee. If it wasn't for him telling me that, I thought I was out that money. I am so grateful for that information and his customer service. Thank you again Jordan.
I’m not sure about everyone else, but I have nothing but good things to say about Chobar’s. I’ve used them 3 times in the last 12 months to tow my low BMW and every time I get nothing but great service. Being here in Plainfield like them, they’ve shown up within less than an hour every time (the most recent time they showed up 50 minutes earlier than estimated) Getting my car towed is my LEAST favorite thing in the world being a couple inches off the ground... Chobar’s is the ONLY company I call/trust! All 3 times the driver has taken EXCELLENT care of my car (he didn’t even wanna put his hands on it to avoid damaging paint!). When towing, my car is literally centimeters from damaging a bumper.. however with extra attention and care, I have had 0 issue with towing. In regards to price, they are fair and honest. I’ve used them for my car and a work car and every time they beat the competitors. Like I said, nothing but good things too say
The man who helped was very helpful, he quoted me $100-$110 for the ride and was honest about it being not as far as expected so he only charged me $96. Very friendly and quick to react to the situation, only took about 30 minutes to arrive.
On July 3rd I called the owner, Tommy because my fiance was stranded in a bad part of Joliet by herself and needed a tow. He told me that this "was family day and the kids needed to watch the fireworks so he would not tow anywhere more than a few miles." I asked if he was a towing company like 99.9% of others where it is 24 hours. He said yes. I said ok, fine. How long until you can get to her. He said 15 or 20 mins. He gave me a price. I said fine. Almost an hour later sends me a text saying that his drivers need to make $25 more because it was a holiday. I asked what holiday falls on a July 3rd AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WHY IS THIS COMING AFTER HE ALREADY QUOTED ME AND AN HOUR LATER??? Then out of pure disgust of feeling scammed, but needing my fiance to be ok, I said fine to the extra $25. About 40 mins later he called me telling me that they got an emergency tow just now and I have to find someone else. If you use this company, you risk being a fool and being put in a bad position for you or your loved ones.
My son was in a bad accident at 2:30am where his car ended up in a 6' ravine. Tom and his crew came out and was able to get the car out (took 2 hours because of the location of the car). They helped my son and when I called the next day, totally lost as to what to do, Tom walked me through everything and who I needed to contact. I hope I never have to use their service again (in a good way) but if I ever need another tow service they will be the first company I call.
We love this company! They're also fairly newer owners... So far we've met the owner and his son (son is also very respectable)... We've been using them to get vehicles towed in to our automotive shop we own. We have been using another company for many years who kept dropping the ball. The straw that broke the camel's back was we were test driving a vehicle and the transmission crapped out on us during the test drive, we waited over 6 hours for the other tow company who actually never ended up showing up even though they said they were on their way 4xs... This was our first experience using chobars... They got to us within 20 minutes.... And we never looked back!
I received tow services from Chobar's Towing last week and I was very pleased. They handled my car with great care and were extreamly professional. Not to mention I called almost 10 company's and Chobar's was the cheapest by a slind slide. I will only be using them from now on for all my towing needs. Thank again for the great service!!!!
They helped me last night when my car’s clutch cluncked out on me. Jordan brought my car home safe and sound. I will be using them again once these horrible weather conditions let up to tow to my mechanic next week. Love that they were open and so responsive. Jordan was so kind and helpful. Today when I talked to Tom the owner he was so honest with me about prices and helpful too. Thank you for your honesty and professionalism. I will always use Chobar’s and tell my friends in this area to use them too. I highly recommend them!!!!! Call them first if you need them. Don’t even search for anyone else.
Their response was quick, and helped me with a tire issue I thought might need a tow, but did not. Price was very reasonable! Service was friendly and the take credit cards for any amount of money.
I have used Chobar's Towing Services on several occasions now and it has always been a very pleasant and positive experience for me. Chobar's is family-owned and operated, and their business has been a mainstay of the Plainfield community for many years. The owner is well-liked and well-respected around town. Clearly their BBB rating is A+ for a reason and I will continue to highly recommend them to family and friends.
Not even sure I would give a 1 star rating. I simply called to ask when I could speak with someone about what I needed to bring with me Monday to retrieve my vehicle and I got a response along the lines of "call tomorrow and you are going to be charged $5 for every time you call to ask a question" and the employee handling the phone call, hung the phone up on me.. Mind you I had called TWICE since they were in possession of my vehicle and I just wanted to make sure I had everything they needed before getting there and then being sent home for not having all the proper paper work, etc.. I understand it is the weekend and hours vary but it could have been reciprocated with a lot less attitude and disrespect..I was no where near rude or out of line when I simply asked one question. I have THREE people that have called off work tomorrow to help me get to my vehicle. Fingers crossed hopefully the person I deal with tomorrow isn't as difficult and rude as the person I spoke with earlier. I am doing nothing but attempting to comply with this companys rules and hopefully a speedy process... From the looks of it I'm not sure it is going to be easy.
I called to ask a couple of questions. The gentleman I spoke to was rude and had a attitude. Will definitly not reccomend. Either he did not know or did not want to tell me about pricing or rough estimates when I inquired about them. When looking up this place online it says it's open 24 hours. When I called to ask the hours he felt it would be a good idea to tell me with a attitude that the "hours are written right on the fence outside." Seemed bothered at the fact that I was calling. After looking at the response to the other review on here I'm suprised that they are still in buisness with the lack of communication and customer service skills being offered.
