Came here because their online website said they were paying .060 per pound for aluminum can recycling. Get here and unload the cans, which they claim was 99 pounds worth, although one barrel was not even all the way on the scale, and take the slip inside to be paid. The lady gives me 49.50, and I said wait aren’t they .60 per pound bc that’s what your website said. To which she says oh no that’s not accurate they don’t change it online it’s .50 per pound!!! Excuse me!! I would have taken them to the spot here in town that is paying .60 a can!! What a scam, besides the weight being suspicious in itself I was completely ripped off. I would weigh your own before coming to this spot. Or better yet go to Mervis, had they not closed already that’s where we would have went anyway. Oh yeah, and we had to unload them and dump them out n barrels ourselves while the worker just watched!!!

use to go here when they was in Grandview on wolf. my friend called and asked if we could junk a boat, they said yes as long as it doesn't look like a boat. so we cut it up into pieces. took it to Springfield iron and metal on wolfe in Grandview got weighed unloaded it then got re weighed. went in to get paid lady asked what it was i said a boat you told us to cut up to not look like a boat. lady refused to pay and wanted us to load it back up we just took off without getting paid anything beware beware beware

We went here because it's the only place in Springfield that recycles microwave ovens. A bit hard to find; the sign could be larger. But the man who greeted me was friendly, and he removed the microwave from our vehicle and took it away. Time spent: 5 minutes. Can't beat that!

It would be nice if these guys would clean up their scraps out of the middle of the road from their junk yard. I live on the same road and HAVE to drive past this company to get anywhere, but i’m constantly getting stuff stuck in my tires (bolts, nails, metal, etc.) because you guys are simply inconsiderate of others and don’t care because it’s not your car. If you could please pick your stuff up out of the middle of road where people drive on everyday, that would be so helpful and would save people a lot of money :) - thank you, literally anyone that drives down this road.

That lady with the aluminum doesn't understand what clean is apparently. From Waukegan and have heard and seen it all. Good place, fair prices and good people.

BEWARE OF DECEPTION. Be careful of selling your aluminum to Springfield Iron and Metals: I called twice to confirm the price of my aluminum soffit fascia and gutters. She asked if it was clean...it was clean, aside from the chalking that old aluminum gives off. She quoted $0.30 per pound, $0.08 if it’s dirty. I made sure it was clean!! After I unloaded all of it from the trailer and reweighed my vehicle, she called a guy to the desk who reported it was dirty. Wait...what?! She explained (then) that dirty means that it has non-aluminum screws in it and she would only pay me $0.08/pound because they would have to “clean it”. She said I should have asked and I could load it back up and take it with me. I did ask! She should have informed me when I called and told her what I had to recycle. They are in the business of ripping people off via omission of important details. $11.20 is all they paid me for a trailer full of 140 pounds of aluminum. I expected $42. BEWARE OF DECEPTION.
