This is a great place to take your lawn clippings , branches etc, Super nice people working there, a great community service

Older woman who answers the phone and is at the office window lacks customer service skills. Rude. I mean VERY rude. I would not recommend anyone to use them. I brushed off her rude demeanor on the phone but once we arrived and she was still rude communicating at the office window, it's a no for me. If you hate your job so much then find something else. I've got about 12 more bags of tree limbs and yard debris that I will be finding something else to do with because I do NOT want to encounter this woman again.

Great place to get mulch. The check in lady has always been very friendly to me.

I am super grateful to have a place to unload my yard waste, and Evans provides that for me. However, the woman who works the window is about as pleasant as a rotten onion. She has the charm of a toothache.

Nice spot to dump things off but having to be interrogated everydamntime I come, the lady at the check in is aggravating, especially when making multiple trips a day and every single time a new round of questions like she didn’t just see me 20 minutes prior is ridiculous in my opinion otherwise it’s a nice place price is reasonable very organized aswell

Recently moved into a home in September 22. I read through the city website that drop off for “yard waste” was “free” for Springfield residents until March of 2024. That is NOT the case here, despite whatever contract that exists. You will get charged by the bag, by the type of yard waste or completely turned away. The woman at the sign in office has unprofessional and inappropriate communication with potential patrons. DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY HERE.

The compost sold by Evans has much to be desired. Having used this material for a couple of years I have found it unsuitable. I can not recommend it for use by gardeners at all.

Picked up two truckloads of mulch from Evan's yesterday. I don't know anywhere else where you can buy a frontloader scoop of mulch for $10 - such an amazing deal! Evan's is a real gem of Springfield for gardeners. The staff were kind and super efficient. I would highly recommend a trip to Evan's for anyone in need of much. Also: My experience with the woman working the front desk was nothing but pleasant. She was kind, helped us without any trouble, made jokes and seemed genuinely happy to help us get what we needed. I'm surprised to read some of the negative comments about past interactions with staff at Evans. But I hope this review adds some balance to the books. Happy gardening!

The lady charged us $35 1 week, and then $55 the next to dump leaves! And to top it all off she is very unruly and rude to everyone. That was my last trip there and I will be sure to tell all of my friends of my friends about her. Way to run a business in the ground lady.

Been using Evens for 10+years. Everything went smooth until this season. New employee is running the place very poorly. Horrible attitude and the price now jumps all over the place.

This is a great place to dump branches for free. All you need to do is drive up, check in, and start throwing your branches onto a big pile. The only downside is that the lady who runs the place is really rude. She yelled at me for not checking in properly (you have to check in EVERY time you pull in if you are making several trips), and yelled at me for my car being too askew for a few minutes while checking in, saying that the trucks couldn't get past my car (even though there was an extremely wide berth). So just beware of this lady lol

Woman running the place now is a tyrant/monster, sends you back for unecessary paperwork, charges by the bag, etc. and appears to enjoy sending you off rejected. I wouldn't waste your time hauling anything over there now. If they have a contract with the City to take yard waste, she isn't following it. Avoid the evil garbage queen.

Price's have gone up! They was already expensive enough to being with, but who else can we use? Thanks for charging a arm and leg to dump then selling it back to us for the other limbs. Good job running small businesses into the ground!!

For yard waste... it does have a smell to it. The barn has some cool wood carvings of mushrooms. Oh it's a dollar a bag......

A couple months ago I called around for prices on compost. Evans stated theirs was $20 for 1 "scoop". They said that the scoop size was substantial & enough to fill a raised bed, or to amend a large area of yard/garden. We drove up there and paid $20 for our scoop (some of which landed on the ground.) The amount you get is alot I must say! However, once we got home and I was able to take a closer look, I noticed some plastic. At first I wasn't too worried, they were big and I was just able to pull them out. I fillled my raised beds and several grow bags with the stuff with alot left over. After a good rain though I noticed alot of micro plastic. Even glass & aluminum! Now I understand why its only $20 a scoop. Buy at your own risk...

The guys who run the dozers are fantastic. We needed A LOT of mulch and have only a small open trailer. The operators helped to flatten everything out so we wouldn't lose much while driving and they happily answered all of my son's questions about the equipment.

This is a great resource for city residents, convenient hours, knowledge staff and easy self service. This service makes it easy to keep the limbs and leaves cleaned up and property looking neat. Highly recommend and thank the staff.

The saturday hours that are posted are wrong. We have tried to call the office multiple times and it always goes to voice mail. When we go to the site, they are closed. This business needs to update its website and offer better communication.

I use Evans 2-3 times a year. When I first called a few years back, they answered a couple ?s of what they take and costs. In and out quick, easy. $1/bag vs $2/ sticker has saved me $100s since my yard produces 65-70 packed bags/yr. Branches free year round for city residents.

They've always been fair with me .I've been using them for 10 years now. Watch out if you go After It Rains. Rugged terrain

If you want to drop off branches or bags of leaves/yard waste this is the place. I went into the office and asked how it works. They told me branches are free and it was a dollar per bag. They have you sign in and then you drop your bags of leaves or branches on the big pile out front. Couldn't get any easier.

I personally like to go to evens an drop off yard waste that is what they are a yard waste drop off they won't take cardboard or other waste that is not yard waste an I like the staff because I am nice to them an they are nice to me if you want fire wood for cheap they sell it by the truck load for 40 bucks they are in my eyes an awsome drop off place for yard waste
Dec 04, 2018 -
We called ahead to see if they take deck wood and nobody answered all morning. We showed up to see if they take it and they wouldn't even talk to us. They just kept saying no they won't take our rotten deck wood and wouldn't even have a conversation with us.

Easy to drop stuff off but the staff needs an attitude check. They are always incredibly rude. The piles of waste have better attitudes than them.

Rude staff. Asked if they handle cardboard recycling. They don't. Staff acted like they get that question a lot. I could almost hear the person's eyes roll up into her head. I then asked if they knew anybody that did. Was curtly told they didn't followed by a prompt "bye". Hey, here's a tip, Evan's Recycling: since you are a recycling business and you will be the first place people call about cardboard (and you apparently get asked about it frequently), how about you figure out what people should do with cardboard waste. Better yet, get in the business of cardboard recycling.

Most people were pretty rude. They all expected us to know where to go when we got here and got mad that we didnt. Then they got mad because we did not know exactly how many bags we filled up with yard waste.
