6/25/2025: Went to Mervis for the first time. While cleaning out our garage, I uncovered three, small, steel storage cabinets that were no longer needed. I couldn't put them out with the weekly recycling because they don't accept steel items. I searched online, found that Mervis does recycle steel, so I loaded them into my car and drove to the yard. The person on duty told me to have my car weighed, unloaded the cabinets, then have the car weighed again to determine the weight of the cabinets. This was quick and easy, and I went to the cashier's office to collect my money. It wasn't much -- $6 -- but I was happy to be rid of the cabinets and to have extra room in my garage. On top of everything, the cashier, who was pleasant and helpful, gave me a frozen squeezy cherry ice pop that went down well in the morning heat. It made my morning, and I'll be back if I have more metal to recycle.
Friendly and helpful staff, they have no problem with explaining exactly how to sort and separate things. That way you get the most for your recycling. Awesome and friendly people, never rude or standoffish. Truly the best place in town for recycling metal! I'd give ten stars if I could!
Pulled up with 15 minutes to spare before they closed for lunch and they turned me away. Probably ruined it for me permanently this isn’t the first time I’ve had a bad experience here. Will not be back more than likely.

Their hours leave no time for people with jobs to get in there. Which explains the kind of people you see there. And they even completely shut down at lunch time, which is not listed on their hours on google. I was working nearby and figured id drive over on my lunch break..nope.
Worker helped unload vehicle in front of me. When I was next in line, I was ignored for a good 20 minutes. I had never been there before, had no idea what to do. Big sign on front of building states, "Wait for Instructions". So I told another worker my dilemma and he was VERY NICE. He spoke to the rude worker who then yelled, " This ain't no drive thru"....More than once. Luckily, other nice workers made up for his RUDENESS!

Still a good place even though today was Friday the lady just was so rude she was not having a good day before her lunch break hopefully better days next time
They kick everyone out right as soon as the clock hits closing time even without serving the customers that were there before they closed. If you don’t like customer service find another job. Spent an hour in the morning stripping copper and got there at 11:50 to a line of people and when my turn is up, he kicks us all out. Now I have to wait until next Saturday due to my work schedule, definitely going somewhere else to scrap and I’d suggest you do too unless you want to be met with employees that have no respect for customers and seemingly hate their job.
When I was there my 1st and last visit. I found a small dumpster that had 3 or 4 stolen WalMart carts. One was a brand new cart that had just been delivered. The others were the older ones that should have been sent back. When I questioned him about them. “Well I called Walmart and told them”. He said. I call BS. I took them back to the store. What kind of person allows stolen merchandise to stay on their property. Secondly, he questioned me about a box that was in the back of the truck but wasn’t there when I came out. I snapped and said fine give me 1# less. I don’t feel they operate with any integrity. Plus I don’t have to deal with a douche bag! Other places will take my scrap!
Website says open until 3:30. Got there at 3:17 and was turned away. Lady doesn’t want to pay overtime. What a joke how long could it take? Now have to go back home and unload so we can use back seats. Thank you Mervis
Brought in 600 lbs of metal and they only gave me 37$?! Biggest rip off I've ever heard of. I will never go there ever again. I could have got 10 x the amount if I would have just went back to Chicago with it. I definitely learned my lesson.
