First experience at Rieger Motors in Forrest and must I say, I was very pleased with the overall visit!
I've been going to Janssens Auto in Fairbury (another wonderful, family owned mechanic shop!) for the past 5ish years when I had my 2017 Ford Edge. However, May 2025, my Edge reached 190k miles, coolant started leaking into the engine and within 2 months, the Ford Edge was officially done for. Still owing $10k on the Ford loan, a new engine was going to be $8k. At this point I might as well just buy a whole new car 3rd party.
Dismayed and slightly derailed by this sudden revamp, I bought a 2004 GMC Envoy from a coworker who had just acquired the GMC for personal, auxiliary use.
A little over $3k later, i was back on the road rolling Peyton & I to school and work in the Envoy. However, I knew the Envoy was going to need inspecting and possibly a few things tuned up for it to be up to par.
But first, my wallet needed a break to play a little catch up from this speed bump
Wheeewwww. 7 months later of breathing and car maintenance, my Envoy started not riding so smooth. I was recommended to go to Reiger Motors as they work on GMC's and provide good, quality service. When I called to schedule the inspection appointment, I spoke with a gentleman named Wes. He was very polite over the phone & seemed eager to get my car in and looked at. When I arrived at Reigers the following day, I was again greeted by Wes and my car was taken right back to be looked at. A quick 30 mins later, Wes brought me to the back of the shop with the mechanic, I think was named Steve
(He has a fluffy, dark beard, I think glasses & very kindly)
That way I could physically see what was going on with my car - to which I greatly enjoyed! Im a person who likes to learn, watch, engage, and be hands on, so being PHYSICALLY shown the damage on my car, where I could ask questions and make sense of it in my brain, was very very VERY appreciated. No mechanic shop has ever done that for me before. Brownie points!
Unfortunately, the inspection results were, in other words, needing an entire new vehicle AGAIN 🤦♀️
important driving parts/rods are broken and was the "not so smooth" ride culprit. Its not safe to be driven so I have to take it very easy until I get into a different car.
Wes and Kirk gave me great suggestions for vehicles and are keeping an ear open for any vehicle fits for us.
The entire staff I met with today were wonderfully informative. They expressed sincere problem solving options, and they were all so kind & welcoming. I will certainly be recommending Reiger Motors when the opportunity arises, as well as bringing my next vehicle to them for any future maintenance & repairs.
Thank you Wes, Steve & Kirk for everything you did for me today. The appreciation I have for you guys can not be put into words!

I've done alot of business with this shop. Kirk and his team are amazing. When no one else can take care of you they always do. They're fast and so reasonable it makes you not even consider doing it yourself. In a world where very few want to help they always do. Im very thankful for them.
So had rieger pick up my car with their tow truck Kirk who works there destroyed my front end of my car. So when I called about it he tried to tell me that the wind did the damage refused to give me their insurance to settle this peacefully so now I have to take them to court. And the best part is I have video proof of it. And it sad that one employee basically ruins your trust in a mechanic shop
On our way home from Georgia with a load of horses when we lost the plug for our trailer lights, Wes and Pedro had us fixed up and back on the road in 45 minutes at a great price with amazing customer service! Highly recommend!! Thank you so much, you’re life savers!
Without a doubt, it has been an excellent decision to choose this work group, they made my truck an incredible job, Steve has been a great help, his work and kindness, without a doubt he has been the best me and traveled to many states and has been the best place to bet on the repair of my car, their kindness and speed to solve is super sensational, I would like to give them 10 stars ⭐️ for the wonderful work, I am extremely grateful, without a doubt, Steve and the Rieger Motors group are the best there is
They go beyond just working on cars at the shop,they came and changed my flat tire 5 miles out in the country fixed the tire and put it back on.Great people!!
I had an issue with the service I received. I brought it up to Kirk.... instead of the usual treatment I've gotten at mechanic shops Kirk pulled me aside and we sat down like Christian men and figured it out; with me benefiting in the end greatly! thank you again great job guys.
1,000 miles from home and my car wouldn’t start! Wes and Austin from Rieger Motors performed some troubleshooting and determined additional diagnosis was required. Due to the lateness of the day they moved the vehicle into the shop and allowed me to use a loaner car to get back to the my hotel.
The next day Steve determined that it was the starter. The starter was replaced and I was on my way before noon.
The entire experience was fantastic! These folks were all very professional and made the entire experience painless. So nice to find a business and employees with such great customer service mentality!!

Wes was awesome. We discussed my concerns and once the problem was discovered, he took the time to talk about cost, potential problems to anticipate and even a future issue elsewhere on the car to be aware of. We discussed my budget and came up with a plan together for how to move forward. Greg was able to fix the issue in a cost effective and correct way. As a result, I was able to afford to address the other problem as well! It was refreshing to be treated like a person and not just another job. Wes and Greg take pride in their work and truly care about their customers. Recommend 1000%!
I came to Rieger Motors to get a quote on getting my engine replaced. They were extremely friendly and excited to get my truck in and start the process. I supplied the engine, and they put it in. I mainly worked with Kirk, Wes, and Greg and they were all absolutely fantastic. Wes kept me updated and communicated everything that was happening with my truck and any issues that came up. Kirk was fantastic and got me in as fast as possible, and was overall completely genuine. Greg was an amazing technician and knew everything he was doing, and even educated me on some things about my truck that I didn’t even know about! I could tell he’s been doing this for a good while and completely trusted all of them with my vehicle and I don’t let many people work on my vehicles. I will definitely be a returning customer if I need something else done. I recommend this place over any other shop. I’m from Bloomington IL and they did everything they could to accommodate me.

I called and talked to Kristina to get some prices on some work I needed done. She was very kind and super helpful. She called me back just a half hour later with all the info and prices. It's not always about how good the mechanics are. Ya gotta have a good front staff to complete the whole awesome experience 😊
Today was my first time coming in to get serviced, and I cannot express how amazing the whole team was!! Everyone was so nice AND helpful. They even have cold and hot refreshments in the lobby. I had much anxiety about finding a good place to get work done on my new car. They all made the experience amazing, I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I need anything else!! Coming from big city auto services to Rieger's in Forrest has been a breath of fresh air for me these past 5 years. In the past, it's been stressful when my vehicle needs repairs — not so with Rieger Motors! Here's a shout-out to the experienced and skilled mechanics, Greg and Steve; the ever-affable Wes; and Kristina and Rita who are so personable that I felt like I had two new friends! This was one of the greatest experiences I’ve had with any auto shop I’ve encountered. On my way to Aurora from Champaign and spun into a ditch after getting a flat tire in the snow. After getting work done on my car my car sounded much better and they fit me into their already busy schedule. Not to mention these were some of the nicest people I’ve met. Thank you guys.
Had car problems on way through Forrest and randomly stopped at Rieger Motors for help, at about 4pm on a Friday. Had pleasure of meeting service manager Felicia, who promised to get me back on the road before leaving for her weekend (which she did). Can't remember last time I encountered such friendly service and strong can-do service. I very much appreciate Felicia and the guys working with her. Couldn't have had a problem in a better place.
I went to them for two new tires and they were able to find some cheaper than Discount Tires. They mounted and balanced them and was able to even pick my car up from my work. They had it done really quickly and they were very professional about it as well.
I had to come back and get the two other tires for my vehicle with an alignment as well. Both times they were very accommodating and professional. I feel like their prices were very fair and they had my car back as good as new once they were finished with it. My techs name was Jeremy and the person I went through to get estimates and come into contact with was Felicia. Thank you for your help!
This place is awesome!!! Wes actually came to Pontiac to pick my car up so they could work on it and brought it back. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure the job got done. I've been here a couple of times and every time was an awesome experience! The customer service they provide is TOP notch!! Greg, the mechanic made sure everything worked as it should before returning my car, which is a relief. I totally recommend Rieger Motors!! Thank you again!!!
I went in unexpectedly as I got a flat about 10 miles away, but the kindness of a stranger put me on the path to Riegers. Thankful to the gentleman for changing the tire and giving me the recommendation. He said they would treat me right and provide service at a fair price. Once I got to Riegers, Wes greeted me and ensured me he would try to help in any way he and his team could. When they learned they could not fix the tire, he drove to another location to get one that would work for my car and help me get home. Anthony worked on the car, and despite the challenges, they were done quickly. What could've been a horrible day ended up not so bad because of the top notch customer service and communication from this team! Icing on the cake was a voucher for a free car wash and cinnamon rolls since I was a first time customer! Thank you to the Rieger team, your customer service was beyond expectations!
We were very impressed with Rieger Motors and particularly with Felicia.
We live in Champaign and were traveling to Oak Park on a Saturday when a radiator hose broke in our F-150 just as we were coming into Forrest. We limped into Casey's to ask if there was a repair shop and they told us to go to Rieger Motors across the street. I called them and Felicia answered, and I told her what happened, and that the engine temp was like 270 degrees so I can't get to her/will need a tow. She quickly told me how F-150's have a three-stage system on overheating, and I'd be fine driving it over.
It was me, my wife and our 6-month-old daughter in the truck. Felicia immediately popped the hood and literally crawled into the engine compartment to diagnose the problem and see if she could fix it right then and there. Did I mention it was Saturday?
She told us she can't fix it due to needing parts but gave us a loaner for free. The staff at Reiger even helped us move our stuff from the truck to the loaner including the car seat and securing it.
Overall great service. Honest. Helpful. Felicia was so great.
I just traded in my car for a major upgrade with Rieger Motors and everyone there was amazing, start to finish. I currently live in Minnesota and was just home for a random weekend and Rita & Kirk went above and beyond to make sure I could get this car on a weekend I was available to be in Forrest. They truly are the best and I’ll always be grateful for hometown businesses being flexible and dependable, even from 500 miles away.
Our car began making a loud noise a few miles outside of Forrest Illinois while we were on a road trip. We pulled into Rieger Motors and our car was promptly taken care of while we waited in the lobby. Thankfully they were able to fix our car (heat shield) quickly and we were back on the road. The office manage and mechanic Pedro were so kind and helpful. Thank you so much for helping us! You were our guardian angels on our trip. (They even sent us off with delicious cinnamon rolls!, we couldn’t believe it!). Thank you so much!!!!!!
Oh my where do I start with my review. Because everything about Reiger is 100% amazing from their incredible staff there to there amazing service! I walked in after finding the most amazing car. Every step of the way they guided me through my first process to buying my first car and so respectful to all the questions I had and trust me folks I had a lot to ask lol. When we did th. paperwork on my new car they brought her in and gave her one more look over before handing me the keys. When my plates arrived they were quick to call to inform me and Kirk was so kind to put them on for me. So if you are looking to buy a new car, van, or even a truck Reiger Motors is by far the best place to go to. Kirk and Sue are truly amazing to do business with. Thank you Kirk, Sue and all the wonderful staff there. You made my first car purchase truly incredible!!
