I was a terrible customer! However they treated me so well even when I couldn't make payments or decisions because of my lack of responsibility. They were able to help me and work it out like adults, the staff is super mature, the workers are great. The owner is fantastic!

One of the greatest adulting challenges is finding an honest and competent auto mechanic that you can fully trust - I am so glad I get to finally check this box! Excellent communication and follow through and had my car back in a day! Very fair pricing, thorough diagnostics and kept me informed throughout the process. While I hope to not see them too often, they will be my forever auto shop!
Mike's team have done a great job each time I bring my Volvo in for service. I like their text process for me to read before calling Chris with agreement or discussion on a repair. It saves a lot of time on the phone.
Took my truck to Gurnee woody Buick. Not the happiest person ever. They could not find out what was wrong, and over a month there. Still nothing. My wife reached out to her father. He recommended to mikes towing in spring grove, ill. So I took my truck to them and they were awesome staff to work. They found what was going on and fixed my 2016 gmc sierra 1500 . I really appreciate the staff and Chris.
Nice shop and nice people, super high prices. I went here because of reviews and folks saying fair prices. They must be wealthy people. They quoted me $360.00 to change 4 spark plugs. I said no thanks, went home watched YouTube video and did it myself in 30 minutes. OEM plugs cost me $60. They wanted to charge me $189.00 for labor on a job a pro could do in 20 minutes and $151.00 for 4 plugs. Shop around and do your research.
Update: for the hell of it I checked with another shop in the area and they quoted me $150.00 total for the same job.
My experience with them has been very good until recently. They told me my tail lights were not working correctly so when I had other service done, I had them check the lights. I was most concerned about safety and legality, of course. Turns out, they found nothing wrong, just that they were aftermarket lights and they charged me for some diagnostic time. I asked them to refund that amount because it was them who spooked me and then told me everything was working. Not cool. I think it’s time for me to go find someone else to work on my car.
This company did some work for my car. By 2 vehicles I have 2 personal vehicles. I have multiple vehicles in my business. And they worked on my car. I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix G. T and they didn't even tighten the battery up. And he's telling me that when the car kept shutting off to reset the codes. I said, what's that he says? Take the battery term on a loft and wait 30 seconds. Turn it, put it back on. I did that multiple times on my way to Chicago, back-and-forth. In a blizzard and my car kept shutting down every 20 miles. These people don't know what the hell they're doing. They need to get out of business. Do not go to these people, they're reasonable, but they don't know what they're doing, and this guy named Dan, he's supposed to be like the general manager, he's a joke, stay away from them, I'll never go back to them. I'm just fair warning everybody. They are not a qualified service mechanic shop So don't don't spend your money.Foolishly.I'll never get fixed

Mike’s Auto Works is simply the most thorough and honest mechanic I have ever used. I was new to the area and was lucky enough to find them. I will never use anyone else again. Top notch work, great collaboration on what the customer actually needs, and always fair pricing. I typically don’t take the time to write reviews, but everyone deserves to know where they should be taking their vehicles….MIKE’S is the only place to go!!!!!!
People there were very nice. They went out of there way to help go through my after market warranty process. They check quite a few extra items because I recently bought the truck. They found a bad ball joint assembly and debris in the brake fluid, which was very dark as well.
We are extremely happy with Mike’s Auto Works. All our repairs were done quickly and at a fair price. Recently we had a vehicle we were going to purchase inspected before we purchased it. They gave the vehicle a full inspection and discovered multiple issues with it. We brought my wife’s vehicle in for brakes a few days ago. They check the brakes and advised that they were still good. The staff is friendly and is always willing to answer questions. We highly recommend Mike’s auto works.
Another great job on my daughter's car. If you are remotely "helping" with a (less than mechanical) child's vehicle I highly recommend them. The car was in and out quickly and they managed to explain what was done and why in terms she understood.
This is such a nice place to deal with. They do great work. They genuinely care about their customers and want the best outcome for your issues. I had my breaks done, they are awesome now.
My experience at Mike's auto works was outstanding, they were very thorough and precise. Explained everything to you as they went along. Very professional yet still kind and courteous and extremely friendly. In this day and age, it's hard to find a business that doesn't just treat you like a number. Mikes treat you like family.

I would truly like to thank Mike, Chris, Teddy, and the entire crew at Mike's Auto Works for All the work they did on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee! Without having the confidence of their work, I would not have been able to take the trip that I did with this vehicle! Noticed a flat while I was camping at a nearby state park and swung in to the closest place to get my tire patched. Had a long wait before they could get to me and they recommended some places to hang out while I was stuck in Spring Grove.
When they got to me, they fixed my tire in an hour, we're incredibly courteous and I think every person in the shop had a chat with me to make sure everything went smoothly. Couldn't be happier with the service, especially unexpected service on a road trip.
Mike checked in with me a few months later to see everything was holding up. Really great group of people over there!

I recently moved to the area and I’m so happy that I found Mike’s Auto Works. The folks at Mike’s are so friendly, the service is excellent and the price is very reasonable. They even gave me a ride to and from my home while they worked on my car. It was easy to make an appointment online and their communication and follow up is excellent. They don’t recommend unnecessary services, and I trust them to keep my vehicle running at its best. I highly recommend Mike’s Auto Works!
Chris at Mikes Auto was super helpful and extremely transparent through the whole process of getting my car fixed up. He recommend a tow truck for me which was quite cost effective since his driver was out of town. Upon examination of my car, Chris relayed all of the issues and what he would like to have done. In terms of transparency, Chris was totally upfront about wanting to replace an entire system rather than just certain parts that were malfunctioning in order for me to not have a similar issue with more costs later on down the road. The price he quoted was the price I paid. There were no hidden costs. Chris and his team got me in in a timely manner and had my car back up and running sooner than planned. Mikes Auto Works in Spring Grove has a new customer for sure! I highly recommend them to anyone who is having issues with their vehicles.
Went to get one tire put on my car that was the spare waited there for over an hour as I think his name was Rich would take care of Customer after Customer instead of checking me out so I could leave he made me wait after being there over an hour longer until I said something And proceeded to help customers that were in there for two minutes for 10 minutes at a time it would not stop talking over and over saying the same thing I asked if he could check me out and he threw a fit acted very immature told me he didn't want my business And started swearing at me very unprofessional. The guy does not know what he's doing he's unorganized couldn't even take any of my numbers down without asking me over and over. Ask them for an estimate on four tires his excuse was the mechanic didn't give him the numbers off the tire yet all he had to do is walk back there and get the size off the tire and he would've had an estimate for me instead he wanted me to wait even longer so he could start to search tires after sitting there for an hour and he would not do it because the mechanic didn't walk the size to him ridiculous. Just complained he was by himself. Now the service tire monitor system is on after leaving this place
