Fabulous mechanics. Last minute in and out. I went in right before closing and they pulled my vehicle back anyways and within minutes had my problem solved. Very polite, friendly, and professional staff. Would absolutely recommend. Even busy they took the time to try and help me.

This is my second review of Bernshausen, the team here is great, probably the best diagnostic team I have had the pleasure to do business with. Recently I had a hard to diagnose intermittent electrical issue with my F 350. Dropped the truck off, and by the end of the day they had the issue identified and repaired. A big shout out to Solomon and the guys (Ryan) for your top notch skills and efforts. Only place for service on the truck !!

This is the only shop I will take my vehicles to, when I can't do it myself. They are the only ones I've found in the area that are honest and reliable. Have used several others in the past and have had horrible experiences. Never have I had a problem here. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

Took my car in to get some issues with the steering column fixed. They were able to fit me in very quickly, finished the job in a very reasonable amount of time, and were friendly and professional throughout the whole process. Great shop with lots of knowledge and experience. I will definitely be taking all my vehicles here for work in the future.

Dropped my husbands pickup off on Wednesday after work since all the lights were on and it kept dying. Was told they are super busy and might take awhile. Was called about it being completed 2 days later!!! I am very pleased with how pleasant the gentlemen are and the work has always been top notch.

They stood by me and replaced a defective power steering pump. The first replacement was also bad and they ordered another. I know this was expensive for them and time consuming. After all of this they didn’t charge me anything. Thanks. I’ll pass this on to everyone I talk to.

I have always done my own Maintenance on my vehicles. When I came to a task I didn't feel comfortable doing I came here. I'm 5 min away from Dennison's. I feel that my Vehicle is in better hands here so I choose to make the 20 min trip. I'm glad I did. I will continue to come here in the future.

Bernshausen found the problem fixed my car didn't cost me an arm or leg. What was wrong with my car wasn't what american motors told me that would have cost me $700 to fix by them.

I took my vehicle to have a hatch assembly replaced. I have an odd vehicle for the area so it wasn't in stock which required involving a dealership. The dealership was back ordered for weeks. Bernshausen took the time to track down the part instead of just passing the buck. Great job Melissa!

This is for my fellow ladies that may feel uncomfortable in these types of environments: As a 25 y/o woman, I get really nervous going to car places because it can be easy to get looked at as “stupid” and/or taken advantage of due to the lack of knowledge I have on cars. I went in to get my brakes checked and thankfully this place made me feel super comfortable right away. The receptionist was very nice and she took me back to have the friendly mechanic (Brad) show me my brakes and explain how it all works. I ended up just needing my back brake pads and rotors replace and I felt like they were very honest and the price was reasonable. Very positive experience and will definitely be returning the next time I need something done on my car! 10/10 😊

They have done good work for me in the past, on my Impala and Lumina. However, they can get careless. My 94 Lumina was once brought in for an engine rebuild to clean out engine sludge, and they failed to properly install a lifting valve in the engine. The problem persisted until the car was totaled in its 19th year. The transmission failed, but we thought that valve was going to eventually pound its way through the engine gasket. They sometimes fail to plug things in, or suspiciously leave things unplugged (as in sensor lights). Their repairs on my 03 Impala 2LS were always exemplary. However, I recently brought in my Monte Carlo SS for a service on a transmission issue in which the gears would disengage. This didn't feel like any transmission failure I ever had. I thought it was a TCM issue like the one I had on my Impala, which Bernshausens caught.. In this case, I don't believe they did their due diligence in researching the problem. After it was determined the transmission wasn't communicating with the computer, they diagnosed the issue as a plugged transmission and failure which required replacement. They informed me of a burning smell, but none of the other symptoms of such failure were present. The specialist they ordered parts from did not inspect the vehicle personally, and they didn't consult with the Dealership that I purchased the car from like I had asked them to (these guys detailed the vehicle and put 1500 dollars into the car before they sold it). The Transmission was 1800 dollars, and with labor was over 4000 (failed to throw in the fob cases and batteries I had asked for). They had the car for two weeks, which might have been the product of a blizzard and Covid, but it took too long nonetheless. After all this, they failed to plug in some sensor box cords, and some lights came on. They tried to convince me that I needed a new sensor box ($1800). I had the issue addressed at a GM dealer in a follow up. They left cords and wires unplugged. Edit in response: I would like to point out that most of the repairs that you have done for me have been acceptable. You did have the car for two weeks in January 2022, but you may have been limited by your schedule and the weather. The estimate was 3500 originally. Apologies for using a personal number, as every number I used was listed. From what I know, that specialist didn't inspect the vehicle personally, and the Iowa Shop (Bob Brown) wasn't contacted till much later. I did not receive daily updates, but received them when I called in every few days and asked. The car came into the shop with a pressure sensor out. It left with that same sensor, brake lights, power steering, check engine, remote start, traction control, etc. turned on. Even if the transmission replacement was premature, it was a good job nonetheless and would have needed it eventually. My Lumina left with a check engine light and the sensor not plugged in. Just trying to do my due diligence and make sure that you are more careful from now on. Resetting the computer, compass, and getting that stuff plugged back in cost 700 dollars in Pekin and Morton.

Chip & Brody are top-notch. You just can’t beat their customer service. ANY repair they’ve ever done on our cars have been on-time and under budget. These guys have a wonderful, old-school approach to auto service. They’ll always have my business!

We have come to Bernshausen for years and they have never failed to disappoint. If they don't have what we need they either point us in the right direction or get it ordered. They have always done what they can to provide the best service in a timely manner. Whether it be a window out of alignment to replacing a lightbulb in the headlight. We will always go there for our vehicular needs.

They did not have the expertise to change a computer in a car a plug-and-go operation and then lost all the bolts to the top of my engine and I had to threaten to sue just to get my bolts back would not use these people ever

I'm proud to have them in our community but I am not a fan of outrages pricing when it comes to repairs on the vehicle nor the fact that it takes nearly a month for them to deposit a check.

Had a problem with a skid plate coming loose on our new 2017 Honda CRV and asked them to look at it. It was about 30 minutes before closing and they were nice enough to fit us in. Not only were they nice enough to look at it, but it turned out being a relatively quick fix and 10 minutes later I was headed down the road. The icing on the cake is the mechanic helping us, Chip, didn't even charge us. Kudos to this business and Chip. We need more businesses like this. They have earned the right for additional business in the future. Give them a try.
