Super pleased by a recent tow I received when my vehicle broke down at my residence. Service was received in less than a half hour, and the driver was friendly and professional.
They make time commitments for towing but don't honor them. They'll tell you they will be there "within the hour" but several hours later you'll still be waiting for them to show up.
Amazing service. The guys have worked on both of our vehicles in the last couple weeks and today what they were told would be a brake job took an interesting turn when I showed up and told them it was gonna need a little more . No worries Rob and Josh got right to work (early even) and quickly found what shoddy work Firestone did and within a few hours Josh swapped out both front cv axles, two front rotors, and all 4 sets of brake pads and had me out the door in under 4 hours.
I cant say enough good about these guys and this hidden gem when you are struggling to find someone to work on your vehicles just give them a call. They will not dissapoint!
Had a problem with my car after work, I called couple places, and Shaner's towing Tire Inc came quickly to see if it could be fixed. Since my tire had a hole, and I would need a new tire, they towed my car to a close exit and changed the tire with my spare tire. I appreciate their quick response since I was at the highway for couple minutes. I will definitely call again if I have tire problems. I highly recommend them!
5/5 STARS! I'm more than pleased with their services. They were the only place in decatur to come! I got stood up by another tow company. I'm glad I did because shaners took wonderful care of my car! Would recommend everyone here!!! I didn't catch the man's name who towed my car, but he was a very experienced man and I'm VERY grateful.
Only company out of 5 or 6 I called that answered the phone and was able to come save the day after a encounter with some black ice at 3am. Pricing as fair, service prompt (for 3am). Can't express my gratitude enough, they helped make the best of a bad situation. Great business
These people are complete liars and scammers. I have aaa service and I was trying to tow my camper and they dispatched this company. Well the company called me and kept trying to ask me could they just fix my tire and I drive my camper. They kept asking me why dont I just do it. Then the guy was like oh I see you dont have rv service with aaa so you aren't covered for that so that will be $500 out of pocket cost to you. So I got off the phone with him. Then I called aaa and paid for the rv service and they said it would be covered but I cant use it til 72 hours has passed. Well here we are 4 days later I called aaa for my camper to get towed and they dispatched this company once again. The lady was kind she wasn't the problem it was the man in the background who said something about me calling a few days ago and that it will be $500 out of pocket price. I told the lady no thats not correct i paid aaa for rv service and that i was covered. I called aaa and the lady said yes ma'am you are covered for up to 200 mile tow, then I told her its saying up to 100 miles so if I needed to change the address for drop off I would. She was like no its covered. I spoke to another aaa man and explained to him what was happening he said no thats not right at all and I requested and he refused this towing company for me. I just dont think this company is very honest because how is it $500 out of pocket cost at first since I didn't have rv service and then i pay for the rv service and that lying greedy money hungry man lies and says it the same $500 out of pockect cost after I paid and waited the 72hours for the rv service. Horrible service the lazy man didn't want to tow it in the first place why run a tow company if you are going to try to force a aaa customer to tow it themselves. I will never do business with this raggedy greedy money hungry unfair despicable company ever I dont care if its -1000 degrees out I will find an honest company over this raggedy one no matter how much time I have to wait. I dont like scamming companies. To be clear it wasn't the woman who dispatches she was nice and I know she wasn't trying to scam the man interrupted her and she didn't know what was going on she was just relaying the messages
Incredible people. Was on the road out of gas and didn't even call them. Guy stopped on the side of the road and offered to help. Great people with great integrity!
Had a flat tire that turned out to be a hole in the sidewall. They came quickly to see if it could be fixed. Since I would need a new tire, they towed my car back to the shop. The tire was replaced with no issues. I will definitely call again if I have tire problems and recommend them!
A pair of broken pliers gave us a flat!! Brandon from Shaner’s came to us in the middle of nowhere a lot quicker than expected. The shop replaced our tire at a great price. Staff was super friendly & got us back on the road in no time for the wedding we were going to. Helped make a stressful day run smoother! Thanks fellas!
Had a flat tire thinking it would be an easy fix, come to find out the tire I needed was a rare special tire that everyone in my hometown did not have or had to special order all being over $150 for a new single, however these gentlemen here at shaners was able to help me with 2 really great used tires still within my budget and put it on rim for me! Very much appreciated! Keep up the great work, and customer service!
Called Shaner's to be towed back to Springfield from Decatur. While communicating with this company was cordial and pretty stright foward, and they were accommodating to my request and to my vehicle, but the rate which was agreed upon, and shown on the receipt, was not what they charged my credit card, an $11 additional charge was placed, but not mentioned. Even though it's not that big of a charge, that sort of thing makes you think twice about hiring them again the next time you need a tow.
Had a blowout and they were there within 30 mins. Brandon was polite and very knowledgeable. Had me back on the road within the hour of the blowout. Painless experience (minus the flat) easily will use this company again if needed.
Soooo thankful for these people’s help with getting my stolen car returned to me!! Excellent service, and they were so kind and helpful with making sure my AAA covered the costs.
We were in a dangerous situation and tried to call 911. They said they were really busy so we called Shaner’s. Dispatch said they would be out asap due to where the vehicle broke down. Brandon came out and had the car hooked up so fast, even before an officer arrived to help block traffic. He was so friendly and pleasant. He even went above and beyond and helped get us through heavy traffic so we could safely reach my ride’s car. Thank you!
My first time doin' business, I locked my key in the car and it was running trying to go help my son who was also locked out of his apt...2am and nobody was up or answering so my lifesaving neighbor called Shaners. Well they pulled up and came through, do you hear me!! Didn't take a long time and was NOT expensive!! Straight life saverz!!
Terrible service. Our vehicle got from Decatur to Jacksonville almost 24 hrs after emergency call was placed ( was given 2 different stories about the delays), keys did not arrive with the truck, I had to call THEM to find out why the delays in getting the keys, not once did they bother to contact me to let me know about delays, (again one excuse after another). Keys did not get to my house for 2 and half days and THEN was handed off to a total stranger who was parked outside my house. Unfortunately Shaners is the only towing company that contracts with AAA for my area, and they are 35 to 70 miles from my home town.
This place is amazing and they really help take care of you. I was stranded on the side of the road with my 2 kids (9 years old and 10 months old) and dog and called a different tow company first who left me waiting and stringing me along for nearly 3 hours causing me to almost miss my appointment and I called Shaners and they heard my kids in the background and with no hesitation had a tow truck to me within 30 minutes! I am so thankful! They also replaced both of my front tires that day within an hour to get my back on the road and to my destination for an amazing price I might add too! If I ever have issues in that area I will ALWAYS call them!
My daughter blew a tire while travelling, with a child, an infant and a dog in the car.. They came out (in around 20 minutes) and towed her vehicle to their shop, sold her two tires for roughly the price of one, installed them, let me pay over the phone. They were great!
My husband had to wait four hours on the side of the road to get his car towed from Shaners. He was only a few miles outside of Decatur. We tried to impress upon them that there was threatening weather approaching, and multiple warnings from the weather service. It could have been a dangerous situation, and they still took four hours. After two hours of waiting, they said they had to refuel and would be there in 30 minutes. It took another two hours. The lady at the front desk was rude and uncompassionate. She said we were lucky it only took four hours, and if they hadn’t come to tow my husband, he would have had to be there all night. Unacceptable service and public relations. We would never recommend them.
My wife was stranded in target parking lot across from Starbucks. I called this place, I didn’t catch the guys name. But the gentleman was extremely nice and informative. He got my wife car towed to Firestone on 22nd in under a half hr, exactly what he said on the phone! When they dropped off the car, the lady at Firestone called me to let me know it had arrived. Extremely pleased with this service! Good job on both ends! You guys and Firestone!
Our insurance coverage includes towing and they contacted Shaner's in Decatur for towing. We attempted to call and were put on hold for a total of 1 hour 15 minutes. After the first time being on hold for 30 minutes, I called back and asked what was going on. The woman said that she had 13 other people on hold. I called back later and she said that the truck would be there within 45 minutes. An hour later I called back and was put back on hold for another 15 minutes. I called our insurance and requested that they cancel that company and that they dispatch someone else.
They would not give me a bill receipt when they unlocked my car. I paid them that evening. The man told my husband the office would mail me one. I have tried 3 times and also called the office. The lady keeps telling me its in the mail. This has been 3 weeks. She is a liar. I am reporting this to the BBB. They need to get investigated. Sounds like fraud.
Our vehicle broke down in Springfield, IL while traveling on NYE in the middle of COVID restrictions. The first gentleman that towed us to a hotel was very kind & helpful. When the first hotel would not take guests, he made sure we were able to get a room before unloading the vehicle. On NY Ken came & checked the battery in the cold pouring rain. He also was very kind & helpful. We were so thankful for their professionalism in a very stressful situation. We feel very blessed that we received great service. We had 3 different companies from the Springfield area we worked with & the employees at Shaner’s definitely stood out above the rest.
This place is ridiculous! Every time my boyfriend calls up here to ask how much a service is or if they have his tire the lady puts him on hold for 20min or longer and never comes back to the phone. One time we were sitting in the parking lot and we called and asked if they had the tire my boyfriend needs and she said hang on puts him on hold for 2sec then says no we don’t. She didn’t even move or check anything. When we got off the phone with her she continued her conversation with the lady she was talking to before we called. My boyfriend literally just got off the phone with them to ask about their break service for his car the guy told him to hold he was on hold for 20min. Hung up called back and the lady picked up and he expressed how every time he calls he’s on hold for 20min and she tried to say “well if we can’t service you quick enough maybe you should find someone else we’re busy” .. what kind of customer service is that? It doesn’t take too long to ask someone how much is the break service for our car. Horrible business.
If I could leave a zero I would. First of all, I called and checked on used tires. I was told $55 a tire mounted and balanced. Thought ok, so I dropped off the tires only to be told they don’t have used in that size. The. I was charged $165 for 2 tires. On top of that, the head was torn. I took it in and dropped it off to be replaced. Once I was told it’d be next, I waited 2 1/2 hours then called back. Well, I’ll be done in 30 minutes. So I arrive 45 minutes later to be told they don’t have a replacement and have to order it. But don’t worry, it’s a free replacement and will be done by 9am tomorrow.
I arrive the next day at 5:15pm and behold, no tire.
Not only did I spend more than I was told, but I also had to make unnecessary trips. I could have gotten 2 tires at Walmart for the price and time I spent on 1 at Shaners. I will never go to this business again
Highly recommend Shaners towing! We broke down in Decatur IL, on a Saturday afternoon ... Cindy (dispatch) was extremely helpful & sweet, she sent a mechanic to our location to see if it was an easy fix.. the mechanic came out & was able to get the car started for us. We thanked him & he left, but our trouble did not end there. Some more issues started and we ended up not being able to drive the car, so we had to call for a tow. Todd came out and loaded us up & offered a ride. Unfortunately something wasn’t quite functioning right on the truck, but within less than 5 minutes they had another tow truck there and had our car transferred to it. We now had the pleasure of riding with the owner of the company himself. He made it an enjoyable ride, towed the car the 24mi and even went the extra 7.5 miles to take us all the way home. The employees of this company go above and beyond in the absolute most stressful situations. Much appreciated as they saved our day!
I recently had a blow out on I 72 and my roadside assistance employed Shaner's to tow. The staff was very helpful from pick up to repair. Was very thorough in explaining what had happened and next steps needed to ensure my vehicle be at top running conditions. They fixed my problem quickly and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Shaner's for anyone experiencing car trouble around the Decatur area.
