Ernie's does fantastic work. They added new lighting and off road equipment to my 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport and I couldn't be happier. All the parts were installed with care and the wiring was done correctly. Ernie's also is very honest and upfront about pricing, and they don't sell you things you don't need. Excellent service every time. I plan on going back for more off road work. 10/10
Worst company ever. They refuse to release a customer’s personal belongings—even when the customer urgently needs them—until the insurance company calls to confirm payment. This is completely unfair and unbelievably rude. Their customer service is nonexistent: dismissive, unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. Do not hire this company. Dealing with them is a nightmare.
Husband was in a horrible motorcycle accident. Bike was towed by Ernie’s Tow Company and held a police hold for investigation. Once the hold was up, our insurance company had it towed back to the house. Noticed the tow company took the valve stem caps that were custom off the bike before it was returned. Just a heads up that when you are going through the most difficult thing like almost loosing your husband, this company could care less and steal from you.
i had a really bad crash a little less than a week ago. my mom dad and i were trying to go see my car. the lady at the front desk named amber had a really bad attitude. you could clearly see that i wasn’t in the best condition. she was very short and rude with us. i don’t know if it could’ve been a racial thing but i will not jump to that conclusion. i just wish amber would’ve been nicer and more considerate seeing what kind of state i was in. the guy in the back talking bout the cars was nice but amber made the experience negative sorry
Zero stars. Run far from these Lincoln towing wannabes. The damage they did to my car during a tow is one thing but lying about doing the damage is another. They can't be trusted. Earnie is the worst.
This guys are simply a highway rubbery. They work with police to name unreasonable price, and threaten with crooked police offers to give you ticket . They charge $2000 for towing truck within 2 miles range. Avoid them at any cost!
Last Friday, my car suddenly broke down on the road, and I wasn't able to pull over to check out what happened. Thankfully, the local PD called Ernie's for me, and they were able to assist in no time. I've never had to get towed before, but Harvey was very clear and communicative in explaining how the process works and what he would be doing to help. Ernie's professionalism made a stressful situation feel like a simple minor inconvenience, and I was able to continue on with my day!
The absolute greatest shop with the greatest staff around! They have towed a few of my cars over the years and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my vehicles. Ernie’s Custom Shop has built some crazy cool rides for me as well! The Vole family is the kindest family and goes out of their way to help anyone and everyone. All of the staff goes above and beyond for customer satisfaction. Highly recommend Ernie’s!!
My experience with Ernies Wrecker Service is the best interaction I've had with a towing company - AAA was going to be 3 hours. Ernie's driver pulled up in 15 minutes and they got me back on the road the same day without breaking the bank. Driver was nice and the inside of the tow truck was clean. 10/10 great experience my go-to recommendation
I work for the transportation department of a global company and we called Ernie's needing a tow for one of our drivers whose vehicle wouldn't start, as Ernie's was the closest towing company. The customer service rep I spoke to answered the phone as if she was already agitated. She hastily answered a few questions and I felt like I was being rushed off the phone. Working in customer service everyday I know that her behavior IS NOT how one should deal with customers. I then had a billing inquiry, she kept me on hold several minutes while she had her "manager" assist me. Another rude individual who also seemed bothered by taking the call. On a positive note, the person performing the tow was extremely courteous and did a great job. That individual was the only reason I gave Ernie's two stars; unfortunately the reps in the office ruined future business we would do with them. To reiterate, I work for a global company who gives $100k plus a year in business to various companies (towing, limo services, hotel, etc) around the area. And because of the lack of courtesy and professionalism displayed by these two reps, we'll gladly give our business to other towing companies who do take the time and care with helping us. My advice to their manager (or regional manager(s) if there are any) is to do quality call monitoring, completely retrain their office staff on raising the standard of customer service in order to ensure a professional and hence more profitable company. A few bad apples will definitely spoil the bunch as well as your company's bottom line!
Update for owner: 4/25/25 - Just saw your response. I must have downgraded it because you never responded to my email and in all fairness, your company didn't deserve the original 2-3 stars at the time. Maybe fix your customer service instead of worrying about how many stars you got on google. Had your staff been given proper training, you wouldn't have dragged the rating down yourself. I read your response to my feedback regarding the poor service I received from your customer service rep(s) after speaking to them 3 or 4 times. It was regarding a tow for one of our drivers for SC Johnson & Wax (our site is based out of Sturtevant, WI). It happened on Tuesday morning, January 3, 2017. I appreciate you being proactive in the matter -- it's a good step in the right direction."
But no need to thank you since you never followed up and would rather be sarcastic. But Happy Easter 3 years later and hope your day is better, it must not be if you'd rather debate old reviews rather than take corrective action.
Changing my review. I give them two stars for Well maintained equipment.. I called on a Friday evening for a heavy tow and was informed that they needed to keep their equipment local. I was 12 miles away! It's the Chicago land area 12 mi is local! One star for service!
End to end excellent service. From the person who took my call to the tow truck driver and expert, Cody. The intake person was efficient, clear and was very good at setting my expectations about timing and giving me choices. Cody had to do some careful problem solving to get my EV out of the garage when none of the electricals were working. Highly recommend Ernie's!
I had to get towed twice today. Todd was fantastic. Had him both times. Very professional and friendly. I’m incredibly happy with Ernie’s service and will never use another towing company. Highly recommend.
These guys were Amazing - got a flat on 94 and they got me off the road safe In a brand new tow truck! First good tow experience I’ve ever had - took me to their shop to fix my flat and got me on my way quickly
I called and spoke to a lady on the phone who was not the most pleasant. Simply asked if she can have someone take photos of my car as I live far away and insurance needed to see those photos. She immediately refused and claimed “they were too busy.” Find it so hard to believe they are too busy to do something that takes less than 5 minutes. So much for service these days especially from a small business
Just wanted to say thank you to Ernie’s for being the ONLY service available to tow my car. I waited for 6 and a half hours for another towing company to come until they cancelled my service… tried 5 other companies before reaching Ernie’s… Ernie’s arrived within minutes of my call.
Critic here once again. My driver got into an accident and guess who shows up, Ernies wrecker services out of Vernon Hills. Spoke with the driver and he says they can take payment over the phone at the office. When I call the office a lady answers the phone and I explain that I need to pay the tow service then she says she can't take payment over the phone due to security reasons. OK I get it but do not tell me yes then change your mind later. Also since you were very rude to me over the phone while I was just trying to pay my vehicle out and get info you should retire from that position since it doesn't suit you!!! And off to the n3xt...
Best service around. Trustworthy, fair prices, always stand by their work. I drive 40 miles one way to have all my work done there. Ernie is nothing short of a total professional. I would highly recommend that you make this place your choice for all of your auto needs. Wish they would allow 10 stars, 5 does not do them justice.
Super helpful they arrived within 15 minutes of calling. Working in the industry I can tell you David is one of the most professional drivers I have ever dealt with.
Had a wonderful experience tonight with Ernie's dispatcher and especially with John who came to our rescue after having a fairly severe mishap while trying to change a tire. He handled it efficiently and was very kind. No judging on the mistake we made -- he's a pro in every way! Thank you, Ernie's and John!
Extremely helpful and kind people. After my accident they were nice enough to give me a ride to uhaul so I could rent a van. Then they even helped me unload the pool table I had in my truck into the rental van. Very good people!
Please avoid this guys at all cost ! Payed 930$ to tow my vehicle for less than 1 mile . Guy gave me a quote of 2h work , took less than it and charged us 3h of labor !! On top he had no information on car shops that could fix it , didn’t try to help us to put ir back to work ! Then told us he would just tow it to nearest shop since he was afraid of damaging our car while towing it !!!
This towing company was great. When I called, they were at my car within 20 minutes which is unheard of these days. I had the car towed to their service center where I am awaiting the repairs. Will provide review of the repairs in a separate rating. So, far I am happy. Forgot to update once the repairs were made, so here it is - repairs were done right and the staff were super friendly. Even gave me a drink card to go over to the adjacent gas station to get a beverage. Cost was reasonable. This is a family owned business. Since then I have gone back to them for other repairs even though they are 50 miles from my house - that is how much I trust these folks.
Very professional. Arrived within 10 minutes of requesting service. Polite, prompt, efficient and affordable. Couldn't have asked for a better experience during a frustrating time.
Ernie's did a great job of cleaning up the pieces and parts of my "total loss" car and transporting it to their car wreck lot. A few days later I went there to pick up my belongings and take pictures.
We called Ernie’s for a lifting job where we would normally had used a mobile crane for. The truck showed up the next morning like we had it scheduled and the job was done fast , safely and precise. The truck was in and out in no time at a fraction of the cost that we would have paid otherwise. Show that a wrecker truck can do so much more than just pulling trucks out the ditch.... After being rear-ended on the expressway, Ernie's came to tow my vehicle. The driver was very polite and helpful walked me through how to deal with the towing charges with the insurance company. When I arrived at the tow yard the ladies that work in the front were very helpful. They answered all questions that I had ad gave me some words of advice for once again dealing with my particular car insurance. Thanks again for all your help ERNIE'S. ONE BRIGHT SPOT IN A BAD SITUATION!
