Last Saturday I had a flat tire. I was driving home from work, and pulled off on the side of the highway. Shelton’s Towing responded immediately to my request, and arrived within 10 minutes. The mechanic which helped me, Gabriel, was kind, efficient, and a great conversationalist!
At that time all the automotive center were closed, so I drove home with my spare with a plan to get it resolved the following morning. Come the next day, my spare was flat! I called Shelton’s Towing again, and once more, Gabriel popped up! To save me the price of the towing service, he offered to air up my spare and follow behind me as I made my way to the Walmart Auto Center.
I hope there is some company incentive, because Gabriel’s performance far exceeded my expectations! Lovely to see a friendly face during such a high stress situation. Thank you so much Gabriel!
If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I received a business card from one of their workers while at my mechanics shop as he was getting gas. He was a nice and helpful guy so I thought that the company would be helpful. HOWEVER the day I called for my car to get towed I was met with a hard NO. With no understanding, no consideration, nothing. I informed them I had to have my car moved before the following day due to my mechanic informing me that he had limited space so my car couldn't stay there. My mechanic gave me a 2 day grace period to get my car so I promised him that the car would be removed on our agreed date. Although I had MY keys to my car and email proof of my mechanic saying the car had to be moved this company refused to help. Luckily I called a different company (Freedom Towing) and they helped me out immediately. I appreciate them so much and if I ever need a tow I will use and recommend their services.
Update after their "reply":
1. No your worker did not. He offered to help that night and said I could call and that he wouldn't mind doing it since he was already there. He said he was getting off work and I told him I appreciate him willing to help but I understood how it felt to want to get off of work on time so I told him I'll all in a few days. He is too good to work at this company and hopefully he finds somewhere else to work.
2. I'm glad customers can see all the rude and ridiculous replies you guys make to criticism.
3. You were not helpful and wouldn't listen to anything regardless of what I said or could prove. That policy should be revised given that this seems to be a constant issue with this company. Again this company is terrible.
These guys are jerks they act like you aren’t worth their time and don’t care to help you at all. I had a horrible time communicating with these people I hope I never have to deal with these guys or their company ever again and I hope no one else does either.
I was in a car accident and was denied access to my car after a tow. They refused to let me get my belongings. The tow guy lied and said he didn't not speak to me at the scene of the accident. Why would I not talk to them? Very rude. They said "Good bye!" and slammed the window in my face. Idk if there's any non-sleasy tow companies out there but this one ain't it!
This company has provided me nothing but kindness and respect in my interactions with them. They always been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about every situation that I’ve needed their services.
They are really ridiculous! They towed our car to plaza in Carbondale and now refuse to tow it off the lot until they’re open when we have the keys and permission to remove it from the lot, plaza did NOT work on our vehicle and has been sitting there for a weeks because the engine is locked up and the guy admitted to knowing that it has been sitting and they were aware of the whole situation.
As we were trying to figure out what to do they pull up to tow someone’s truck right next to us after telling us they couldn’t help!
So we called Freedom towing and they came right out and hooked us up faster then the other guy! Highly recommend Freedom towing in Carbondale!
And his reply is a complete lie we have spoke to plaza we don’t owe a penny and it was not waiting for repair! We were given the keys and told we could have it towed at anytime! They like to reply to all the bad reviews and lie!
And mind you Freedom did get out of truck and do everything he was supposed to hook it up so your guy must of been “watching” so close. You’re a joke as your business is.
I made a post on a local group of my review on this place and they didn’t like what I had to say and sent either an employee or family member/friend to the post to lie and insult me and the commenters who also shared their terrible experiences with them. Stay away from this place!!!
I have been going to them for over 11 years and will continue to do so. They are accommodating and have gone above and beyond every time. I highly recommend!
I was on larue pine hills road going up hill when my vehicle suddenly died on me. I called shelton's for a tow and told them roughly where I was at so the driver would be able to find me on this narrow up hill road in wolf lake. The person on the phone was very professional and said the driver was on his way. They arrived at the vehicle quicker than expected and were professional and quick to load my vehicle. They are the most reasonable priced company in the area and will definitely be getting my friends and family's business.
I have had to be towed a few times and all the guys at Sheltons towing were very nice and very quick response and always respectful I will never call any other tow service. This is the best tow service and the best part is it is a family owned company
These people are freaking souless. Im pregnant, my car was towed here due to impact with a deer during a drive home from Myrtlebeach with my husband and littles. Not only were they rude after a traumatic car crash. Whixh all airbags deployed. They gave me two different locations to pickup
after i expressed how I didn't want to clean out the car and leave it with Sheltons. How I'd rather have it towed to the state i reside in from a nearby tow company.
After arriving to the first location I was yelled at. Told why would you come here? I didnt tell you your car was here. Go to the other location. Just rude nasty and scary. I understand why the community prefers Freedom towing over you guys. They will quickly make a horrible day worse. Evil is a disease. Try being nicer to paying customers.
To think I would ever assume anything In life would be free at the age of 31 is comical. The responses to each negative comment tells you all you need to know. I had my mom call because i couldnt physically speak anymore after how you guys spoke with me. I was so shocked and disgusted. This place needs help. The people you have to encounter & interact with while patronizing this place will give you nightmares.
These people are rude and highly disrespectful. The front desk lady treat people like she wants to fight. And if this a family business it needs to be shut down. I walked in to talk to the front desk lady and how rude she was I just walked back out. No one will disrespect me or my family like that.
Absolutely terrible experience with this towing company. The staff was not only rude but blatantly racist toward me. From the moment I interacted with them, they treated me with hostility and disrespect for no reason other than my race. No one should have to experience this kind of discrimination, especially from a business that is supposed to provide a service to the public. Do not give them your money!!

I drove three hours because that's what I was told was my only option. AFTER MAKING YOU GUYS AWARE I WOULDNT BE COLLECTING ITEMS BUT COLLECTING MY VEHICLE. I was given hell. I paid all fees because that's what's you guys required. $320 for one day. REFER TO FUTHER PUSHED DOWN REVIEWS. We had a great experience with Eddie on Christmas Eve. He was prompt and professional and was able to “extract” us from the precarious situation we had gotten our car into. And while not wishing anyone to need their services, if they do, we would highly recommend this company.
I never got his name but wow the man that helped tow me last night was amazing! He was there to take me to Walmart, and helped me leave when Walmart was extremely rude. He then called and took me to tire plaza and got me right in. He was such a great guy! I was so upset and he helped keep my spirits up and was so helpful. Worth every penny for this service. I thank you so much for making this process smooth.
Never had a towing company not allow one to get in their car to get their insurance card but they will more than gladly did thru your car for you. There was not any issue with the insurance with the local pd nor was there a ticket issued for not having any insurance you guys sure know how to keep a car longer .Let's not forget that we were able to provide the current policy number that was good but since we could get the card printed out or to pull up it wasn't good enuf ..you keep racking up more money from people in the wrong ways
I understand you have to be kind of tuff in this line of work but I could not believe this was a family owned business. The man answering the phone was extremely rude for no reason. My car had just been stolen so I’m already having a hard time they just made the experience even worst.
Prices are great, and so are their responses to the entitled 1 star reviewers. The other guys wanted 180 bucks to come unlock my car door, they did it for 50.
Came to Shelton’s in Carbondale to clean out my car. I showed up right as their lunch break was ending and sat outside for 45 minutes waiting to get help from an employee. I called and was told to wait just a few more minutes before I was able to be helped and continued to wait for another 20 minutes before banging on the door and still did not receive any help. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!! I still have not been able to clean out my car because of how frustrated I was from being in this situation.
So impressed with Shelton's (& AAA)!! I ran out of gas on 13 in Carbondale. Pushed it to Verizon/Aldi's area. Used AAA app to ask for fuel. Within 2 mins, Shelton's tow truck driver called me, confirmed my location, & said he was on his way. He arrived within 10 -15 min of me requesting fuel on the AAA app. The driver was so nice & his service was amazing!!! It made my day that he arrived so quickly!! He made my fuel request his priority, & that felt really good. Thank you!!!!! 50 stars if I could.
If you have issues with executive dysfunction, paying for AAA is one of the best investments you can make.
I have used Shelton's twice over the past year-recently for locking my keys inside of my car and in the past because my battery needed jumped.
Shelton's works with AAA and in just a few minutes--for real--using the website--Shelton's was dispatched. They called within minutes, gave me an ETA both times, and arrived promptly.
Eddy is super friendly and fast and down to Earth.
Because of AAA, I didn't have to pay for either of these events, which is great.
Shelton's was very honest, and more than fair with me. They stick to their word and got everything sorted out quickly. To be able to say that is rare these days. I couldn't have asked for a better experience given the circumstances. They now have my business.
My car just stopped in the middle of the road. I was able to coast to the side. Called Shelton's. I have used them I'd say 15 years ago. I was not disappointed. They dispatched a truck. I only waited 15 minutes! Towed my car to.a local dealership and waited with me until my ride home arrived. Fast, friendly service, my go to towing in Carbondale area!
I have a bachelors degree in Automotive, and Sheldon’s towing was the worst towing service I have ever come across. Horrendous customer service, I would rather trust the government than trust Sheldon’s towing. (I don’t trust the government) if you are in Carbondale, you should call Larry’s towing.
I requested his service over the phone for my broken down pickup truck. I asked for a flat bed truck, I explained that he situation clearly. He was very rude and told me I had no idea what I was talking about. And continued to say “I have two flat bed trucks but I won’t help you” (I was being polite the whole interaction)
Wow, your ignorant response shows how you treat your customers. I remember clearly telling you that wheel was still on the truck but not safe to be lifted by the wheels. You refused to listen to me. For you this was easy money. But you proceeded to brag to me that you have two flat beds, and I wouldn’t be seeing either. Unprofessional.
They kept our truck safe while they had it. I highly doubt any customer would speak a bad word about them. Very professional, honest and great people! Another tow company made a whole flat screen TV came up missing from our vehicle. But this would never happen here at Shelton's!! I recommend Shelton's to everyone!!
Shelton's showed up in a timely manner. He was polite and got me back on track quickly. The price was fair. I would definitely use their service again if needed.
Shelton's saved my day when I had a flat tire at night in a recent ice storm. They came out within 15 minutes, managed to get air in my tire long enough to get it over to the tire shop (didn't have to be towed, which was a miracle). Helped me get the form completed (in an ice storm), then drove me to a hotel for the night. Super, friendly and helpful driver. Good people, out helping others when needed!
Rich was amazing! He came quickly to our location hooked on and towed us where we needed to go. Outstanding customer service and knowledge. I definitely recommend using their service and I will be a loyal customer for future times when I need help. Thank you for your help! You were a lifesaver!
AAA directed me to their service and they were there right in time. Quick, efficient, and even changed destinations upon request because of funky GPS stuff. The guys were kind and very helpful to the point of making sure the shop they took me to could service my completely blown out tire before dropping my car. 15/10 would recommend. The haters leaving 1 stars are most likely Karens and/or tow jobs that are mad they broke the law.
