I was given the wrong quote at the beginning of the tow. I was told it would be $125 plus $4 a mile. However, they later charged me double what I was expecting; they informed me that this amount included a return fee, a pickup fee, and other charges. The person I spoke with was rude about the situation, and I was told my only options were to pay the higher amount or pay the tow a yard fee. My main issue was the lack of clear communication regarding the total price from the start. Had I known, I would have continued to call around for better rates.
I normally don’t do this but they took forever to show up , I had Redmonds offering me 97 to open my car (keys locked in) then Speedy gs was already outside I’m like okay they should be around the same range naaa! He said 150 then when I checked my card it was really 160 like what in the world
For a 10 minutes tow I was charged $400 dollars, when ever I ask for a receipt they hung up on me. Complete scammer. I would advise people to never use them again.
I would give zero stars if I could. I was quoted $125 plus $4 a mile to the location! After my truck arrived to the location I was told it would be $400 and that it must be Zelled. I’ve been hung up multiple times and unable to speak to anyone. Do NOT EVER use this company. Absolute SCAMMERS
Predatory, Dishonest, and Completely Unprofessional
We had an absolutely awful experience with Speedy G Towing, and I want to warn everyone: stay far away from this company.
They towed our truck under questionable circumstances, then demanded an outrageously high fee for its release, with no explanation or itemized charges provided upfront. My husband was forced to pay the full amount on the spot, and only received an invoice much later, after I had already handed over the money under pressure. That’s not just shady — it’s borderline extortion.
Their staff was aggressive and dismissive, showing zero willingness to answer questions or offer any kind of transparency. It’s clear they count on people being desperate so they can take advantage.
This company should not be allowed to operate the way it does. If you've been scammed like I was, I strongly urge you to report them to the Better Business Bureau or local authorities. No one deserves to be treated like this.
Like other reviews say, they claim to only charge $125 hook up fee + $4 mi. Then once there, they give you a bill $300 more than what was quoted claiming en route miles and the miles to return to shop. However, even then it doesn’t add up to what they charged. $125 (hook up) + $68 (17mi with our vehicle on truck) + $80 (20 en route miles) + $80 (20 return miles) = $373. We were charged $495. What is the extra $122? They wouldn’t say. Just said “this is what the company charges”. Definitely taking advantage of people! I would not use them again.
Fraudulent scam. They say one price and charge you way more. No receipt given at time to know what you are actually paying, they just take your credit card. Absolutely no morals or values.
First let me start by saying that this by no means is to the driver. The driver was wondeful and polite.
This is in regards to the level of unprofesionalism that I received from the person at the office. He was rude and hung up on me twice. I now see that the quotes that they give you are always an issue. DONOT call them! They do not deserve your money or your support.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is nothing but a scam. They towed my vehicle a mere 2 miles (6 min away)and then hit me with an outrageous $2,000 bill—without ever disclosing the cost upfront. My driver wasn’t informed of the price until AFTER they dropped the truck at the mechanic, leaving us no choice but to pay their insane fee.
This is predatory, dishonest, and completely unacceptable. A tow should never cost this much for such a short distance. If you need towing, find another company unless you enjoy getting ripped off. I will be reporting them to the BBB and my state’s attorney general for their unethical business practices.
Do yourself a favor—stay far away from these scammers!
I would never use this company again. Speedy G towing are absolute thieves. They will make up rates so that you agree to the tow then hold your vehicle hostage after you don’t agree to their ridiculous new price surcharge. The dispatchers on the phones are no only rude but do not care to explain why or how they hike up yours rates. Truly vile behavior… old folks beware you will be taken advantage of.
SCAMMERS! Every review you see here about them scamming is TRUE. I was dumb enough not to check the reviews beforehand and just called. They told me 125 dollars for hookup and then 4 dollars per mile. Thats ALL i was informed of. My house is only 20 miles from exact location of where my car was at. The cost should've totaled up to 205. When my car got dropped off, the driver wouldnt give me my keys until I paid 415 dollars!!! I have a camera doorbell that has video of EVERYTHING! He said that they also add on the mileage of where he was from to pickup my car. He told me his location was Shaumburg and I was in Barrington, that's a 12 mile difference so even with the 4 dollars a mile it still doesn't add up to 415. When I called to complain, they said billing will get back to me then hung up and NO ONE has called me back since. I am looking into taking them to small claims court, I want an itemized receipt of what totaled up to 415 dollars. They just charge you whatever.

Buyer beware! They totally lied about how much it would cost and then hit us with $150 MORE than what they quoted on the phone. Total Scam. After they have your car, they tell you a different price. Move on to a different service, don't use them.
I have called this towing company and they said $125 plus $4 a mile. I agreed as the drop of and destination was only 3.5 mile.
When got to drop off, the driver asked for $325 plus fees, which made no sense. I called the dispatch and he said if you don’t pay it we will not drop your car and we will take it to impound lot.

Horrible experience. Confirmed before signing agreement and paying for the total cost of towing my vehicle. When it came time to pay, there were hidden fees that were brought up, which are fees that we have to pay for each mile the driver drives to get to you AND to also pay for him yo return back to his base. It came out to over $200 alone in Addition to the total amount that they had initially agreed upon . Then the person on the phone named Oscar blackmailed me saying if I don’t pay you right there and then that he will have his driver tow this vehicle back to their Towing location and that I’d have to pay for the vehicle to be towed there and impounding fees then proceeded to hang up on me. So I was forced to pay up. And then when I did they said they cannot give me the receipt nor a copy of the agreement because they’re not allowed to and that’s their policy. How ridiculous is that? And I never complain about any business because I’m a very laid-back chill guy, but this was completely a scam.
Zero stars, for these scammers, they ripped me off. They charged me $500 to tow my 7000lb GMC box truck 0.5ml. it took 1h since I called till they dropped it off but they charged me for 2hrs at $195/h, $78 for gas and convenience fee $31. I called the office to see why the bill was so high but they hung up on me.

Modern day highway robbery. We have had the misfortune of dealing with this company on 2 occasions and they charged absolutely exorbitant, including over $30,000 to rework a load on a trailer and over $2,500 for a tow from one end of a parking lot to another. An absolute blight on the trucking industry, predators of the highest order.
I called and asked how much. I was told $125 to come get the car and 4$ each mile after that. So my car was only getting towed 5 miles. Bill should be $145. They got my car on the flatbed and the guy told me it was $330. He said they charge for the miles to come out to. That wasn’t what he told me. Shady business they run.
Please dont use this towing conpany. They will tell you a certain price and wont mention that they will be charging for the miles they use to get to where your car is at. They only tell you the amount it will be between the distance that your car is currently at and the drop off. I ended up paying about 340 in total compared to the 125 dollars I was told over the phone that I was supposed to pay. I called them back to see what was up with the payment we had agreed on and they basically rambled on about nothing and didn’t clarify the part where they had told me a different price from the start. Save your money from this horrible company!
HORRIBLE ! HORRIBLE !! You would think when you go through a family owned and operated business of 25+ years they wouldn’t try to SCAM you but hey guess I was wrong. Call the company and ask SPECIFICALLY for an estimate.. guy comes on the phone and says $120 to put it on $4something for mile so I say okay cool it’s only like a 10 mile ride shouldn't be more than $200 ON THE PHONE TO THE MAN… NEVER in that interaction did he mention that they were also going to charge me for every mile it took for the tow truck to get to my car. Calls me AFTER he hooks and has my car to the suggested location and says zelle me $400 ?!?!?!?! first of all why am I zelleing you.. seems quite unprofessional. second of all when I said to the man on the phone that’s only 10 miles why did he never once mention well plus the miles to get to you? THIRD of all why are you charging people after you have possession of their car and it’s too late to back out? SCAM! Quoted @$124 for hook up & $4/mile. It was only a 2 mile drive, should have been $132. Before they would let my car go, they were trying to charge me $395. When I called to complain they said I had to pay for the drivers miles to & from the shop.. I have never had to pay for that in any of my past towing experiences.. DO NOT USE SPEEDY G THEY'RE A SLEEZY COMPANY!
DO NOT EVER CALL THEM FOR ANY SERVICE. They’re pure rip off. I called and was 250$ per hour for service. In past I dealt with towing and asked them is there any other charges. They said no only per hour. And I end up paying more then 2k$ for 2 miles. It was only 3 hours job. When I asked why it’s so much and then they told me other charges.
My advice to who ever use this company for any kind of service. When you call them record your conversation and if they charge you extra you can take them to court and you would have leverage.
Speedy G is nothing but a rip off and a scam. DO NOT use this fraudulent company. They should be ashamed but because of greed (THEY’RE NOT). I was told the hook up fee would be $125 and $4.00 a mile from the location where my vehicle stopped to my house. I was NOT told they were also charging $4 a mile from where the driver was coming from to pick up my vehicle. From the time I spoke to the driver he was at my vehicle in 10 minutes or less and claim he drove 36 miles (per the receipt) and 12 miles to get to my house. They tried to charge me $425 (CRAZY). They end up charging me $350 which was still ridiculously high. PLEASE DO NOT USE this scamming Service.

These guys are awesome! AAA made me wait for four hours & speedy G showed up within 30 minutes! Even though I have AAA, I’m glad I called speedy G towing, but get prices upfront.
DONT USE THESE GUYS! I don't know what's happened to this company in the past few years, but they have become super shady with pricing. I've used Speed G in the past with no issues. Recently I used them to tow a vehicle home and called in advance to get a quote before booking. The operator on the phone told me charges would include hook up and $4 per mile. I specifically asked the miles which they stated 20-30 miles for charging, equaling about a $300 total charge for towing. When the tow truck arrived with my car, the charge was now $600. They stated the charge included total mileage for the driver TO the pickup and from the pickup. The operator didn't mention this in the initial quote AND there is nothing in the receipt or documentation confirming where the driver came from! They can basically charge you whatever they want and get away with it. You're better off getting a uhaul and Home Depot truck rental.
Had a driver Friday on 355 not now how to properly merge, tried to speed up and force his way if front of me. Then, got mad at me, rolled down the window, flipped me off and threatened me. Called the office to speak to a manager, said they would call back, didn’t get called back, too much of cowards to face there drivers erratic behaviors. Fake tough guys, wish I could rate a 0. Great look for your company. Also, looks like they only respond to the rare 5 star reviews but would be nice to hear back
Thieves! They charge $495 to tow our suv 8 miles! They did not provide a quote over the phone either. When given the price, Adam threatened that he would take our vehicle to their impound if we didn’t pay immediately. Broke down their charges: $225 hook up fee, $22 surcharge and they apparently charge $4 dollars a mile to reach your vehicle and then charge to tow the vehicle to its destination. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are hit with a class action lawsuit sometime in the future. And after doing the breakdown the amount still exceeded what they were charging.
Scammers. They don't clarify the $4 charge per mile includes them driving to/from your location. They hung up mid-call when we asked if this was the case and to cancel the tow we ordered. Thank you to everyone else for sharing their experiences! If it weren't for your reviews, we would've gotten scammed too.

This is the most disgusted I’ve been with a business in a while. Every time I call there are people that answer the phone with attitudes. I asked to speak to a Manager more than once and it’s always no one is available. I was quoted on the phone for my car. I was told the hookup fee is $150 and $4 per mile. I was only 20 minutes away from my home. The total mileage from where they picked me up at and dropped me off to was only 17 miles. I had 250 so I was worried. Once completing the job and getting me to my destination the driver told me the total was $435. I was shocked as to why I was even charged that much. Come to find out they charged me for miles it took the driver to get to me!!! I have never heard of a tow company charging you for the drivers mileage to get to you only the mileage that it took to get you from and to your destination. This happened Tuesday!!! I called Friday to try and pay and the person on the phone told me the billing People leave at 5:30. It was 5:24 when I called. They told me they don’t expect card payments on the phone only Zelle. When trying to get and understanding the person on the phone told me if you’re gonna pay it you can pay today so it’s not charged for another day. I said okay but I told you I have a debit card and you said no card payments. He told me Zelle it then send it to the email he disrespectfully yelled out the email very fast to where I couldn’t even understand him and then hung up in my face. Then I tried calling back and got no answer but then the email was texted to my phone. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECCOMEND ANYONE to use this towing service literally the worst and BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL literally ripping people off just for the fun of it
