I worked with Schimka's for towing my totaled car twice between going to the dealership and back. They were the first available and got someone out earlier than I expected both times. Prices were perfectly reasonable and Solomon is a knowledgeable professional. If I ever need another tow, Schimka Auto is on speed dial.
Wanted to post to say I loved their service. Got stuck Saturday night around 12:40AM. Ended with my car on the side of the road, temperatures freezing below 0. No other companies in the area would pick up my car/call and when I finally called this one they made it to me in half an hour. They also helped me push my car into a parking lot full of ice. I’m super grateful to my tow truck driver who didn’t give up on us and kept helping us each step of the way.

From Des Plaines, IL to Chicago Downtown driver arrived in 40 min after my call.
Loaded car in 10 min and delivered it right to the repair shop with no issues. Nice friendly guys

Removed stars. I just tried calling Schimka for the past 25 minutes and no one is answering. Their website says Saturday hours are 8 to 2 yet no one is answering. I called a competitor instead. More expensive but I'm stuck on the side of the road and don't have time to waste.
Solomon was great but they just proved to be unreliable.

Wish I could give more stars! First time having to tow my car, and everyone was super pleasant, friendly, and helpful. I called around 3:00 to get information (forgot to get the office gentleman's name, but he was great), called back not long after, and was able to schedule a tow for 5:15. Solomon was right on time, brought me with my car to the mechanic, we chatted and laughed during the drive, and he offered to give me a ride home after that. After an extremely stressful day of my brakes going out, getting their help today was comforting, and I would not hesitate to reach out to them again!
This towing company is absolutely amazing. Mario was so helpful kind and caring during a very stressful time for me. I was involved in an accident that blew two of my tires out .Mario helped me get my car to Just tires and was so kind and polite he made sure they were able to help me before just leaving my car. He went above an beyond.Your kindness will always be remembered by me Mario thank you so much
Sad reason to be here! My daughter was hit by a truck, making a left turn on a green arrow, which she has done at the same corner for five years! Rosemont police didn't help her, gave her info to the person that hit her, didn't give her his, TOLD HER TO SIT ON THE CURB AND NOT MOVE, in the cold and snow, wouldn't let her take pictures of the vehicles, then told her let's just say this is your fault!! Sad but expected, 8 police officers not one helped her or asked her what happened, they TOLD her! The person at this yard was nice.
Schimka Auto took my junk car when nobody would, for a fraction of the price. From the person I spoke to on the phone to schedule to the driver that came to pick up the car, everyone I spoke to was extremely pleasant. Would absolutely recommend!
I found them online when I needed an emergency tow just two blocks. They are close to where I was and their site states they're open 24 hours.
This was NOT the case. It was only aprx. 10:00 pm and the guy said he was closing and going home!
Schimka Auto Wreckers has been providing towing and wrecker service to my family and business for well over 50 years. Their professionalism has been outstanding in every instance. A local, family owned business you can count on when your back is against the wall.
My experience with them was overall very good. I just needed a simple tow from my residence parking lot to my mechanic's shop, and it couldn't have gone any smoother. The tow Tech Irving was polite, professional, and got my car loaded up without issue in less than 10 minutes. Time from initial call to arrival was about 35 minutes, which made it very convenient. If I need another tow in the Des Plaines area, I would definitely give them a call.
Company rip off charge to much for towing my car broke half block from mechanic shop they charged 140 dollars I would not recommend this place to noone no tow worth that pay
Very professional and helpful, Terry was very patient with questions I had about my Hyundai Elantra and when my tie rod broke and my roadside assistance let me down 3 times, they came promptly with the correct equipment to move my car and at a reasonable cost which my insurance reimbursed. Thank you!
Called these fellas up and they gave me an estimate over the phone with a breakdown of the fees. Showed up in 20 minutes as promised. The tow driver was polite and personable. He got the car up on the truck in record time making sure to take extra care not to mess up the bumper on my lowered car.
Delivered the car professionally and courteously to my driveway as arranged. No muss, no fuss.

Very bad attitude. The towing company guy was very rude and didn't even get out of the tow truck to assist me. I had to walk over & ask him was he here to tow my vehicle. After exchanging my info he replied he doubt he would be servicing my vehicle to my destination. But he would check with his dispatch. Momentarily he came over & said no he was not driving my vehicle & left.
They don't even deserve a star, I called and told them I was on my way to get my mom's belongings and the guys who answered the phone told me to just bring the release papers which I did and than when I get there the dummy tells me that in order to get my properties I have to have full cover insurance or to pay to get the car out, I told him I live in Chicago and had to get a ride out there and that if he would've told me that over the phone I would not have come all the way out here and his response was and I quote " I might have misunderstood you" my nephew owns a towing company and he said that is B'S, because I was not taking the car out, personally I think he was just being racist because I'm Latino.
If i could rate it no stars, i would. This place is garbage. Don't ask for their towing, its way overpriced. Don't bring wrecked or disabled cars here either, they'll lowball you for the title. Service is poor and the people working here appeared to be angry at the customers.
Just leaving this place as I'm writing this review.
I don't know why everyone keeps saying they're rude. They were pretty laid back and helped with my questions and even gave me options to help me find what I needed from other places.
Give them a shot. Pretty cool guys
