I had a very disappointing experience at this location due to poor customer service. The manager and front-end employee treated me and my children as if we were an inconvenience. The wiring for my hitch was installed incorrectly and took much longer than promised, with no communication about delays. As an out-of-town customer with children, I was frustrated to pay $50 for an Uber ride home due to the inaccurate time estimate, and I received no empathy from the staff. However, I must commend Orlando, the GM, for turning this experience around. He reached out to address my concerns, listened patiently, and showed genuine empathy. He assured me that he would retrain his team to improve customer service. While the store manager offered some compensation, Orlando went above and beyond by reimbursing my Uber fare. His professionalism was a breath of fresh air. I also had a great experience at the Fox Valley location, where my hitch was corrected efficiently. If it weren’t for Orlando’s actions in reaching out after the fact, I would give this location a one-star review. Because of his efforts, I’m bumping my rating to three stars. If I had dealt only with Orlando, this would easily be a five-star experience.

I had a hitch installed. They were quick and efficient. Dude working the register/taking the car in for installation could def use some serious training and maybe a boost of caffeine. He was half asleep when we arrived, yawning like nobodies business. As I have a BRAND NEW car, I was a lil nervous about the person installing the hitch, so I asked if they had experience doing hitches on hybrids. His answer: “if you don’t trust us, take it to the dealership, but I’d hate to know what they charge”. First of all, it would have been just as easy to say, we do a ton, no need to worry. Second of all, wake up buds. It’s really unprofessional to be yawning up a storm in front of your customers. Different dude called to tell us it was ready and was totally pleasant over the phone. Hitch appears to have been installed properly

I normally don’t leave reviews for businesses as I’ve worked in customer service and know how difficult those types of jobs can be. I had an uncomfortable experience here that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone else. An employee spoke to me in a degrading and disrespectful manner. Please think twice before coming here as the customer service is poor. 1) I arrived at around 2-3pm on Monday afternoon and there was no one inside the facility. This is usually normal as the employees are serving people outside. I waited for around 10 minutes and decided to call my dad to see how many moving boxes we need. As I was on the phone with him, an employee walked in and went to the front desk. He didn’t really greet me and immediately made a comment referring to my phone conversation ( which he overhead the very end of). Before I even had the chance to greet him, he told me that if I really wanted five boxes, then I should be holding them and be prepared to pay. The tone in which he spoke was quite alarming as I was doing nothing wrong. He reprimanded me for not being prepared even though I was not aware of where the boxes were located within the store. 2) Apparently there is a back room with boxes and other items for purchase. This is not intuitive and unclear upon entering from the front door. How was I supposed to know this? Eventually, the employee led me into the back room and I was able to pick out boxes. If I had known where the boxes were this entire situation could have been avoided and less uncomfortable. Throughout the rest of the experience, the employee barely spoke to me and made me feel bad for asking a question about the boxes. I am convinced that no matter what I said or did this employee would have been rude as he seemed to be in a bad mood. I don’t appreciate the unnecessary comments or attitude. It is very wrong that my experience was so uncomfortable and inappropriate. All I was doing was asking to buy boxes! My family has been using this U-Haul location for a long time and we will not be coming back. I have made a complaint to customer service.

Experience while I was there was fine, but post-experience was lacking...I was charged for 39 miles when I went 6. I didn't get a receipt emailed to me and when I called to ask about it, they said there was nothing I could do because I hadn't taken a photo of the odometer. Disappointing, but shame on me, I guess. Edited to add: They did finally give me a refund, but it took A LOT of effort on my part to make it happen. FWIW, I ended up working with corporate to get the refund, not this specific location.

This is the best uHaul location I have ever been to. And I’ve been to a lot! Excellent manager, courteous and knowledgeable staff. Always a great experience! I really appreciate them always being there for me!

I had a good Experience with them. One of the staff informed me about the After Hours when I asked which helped me a lot not trying to rush load and unload everything before they closed.

I scheduled a uhaul reservation, and when I went to pick it up, the truck size was incorrect. I spoke with Shane in the office and he was able to fix my reservation in great time and had me in my way. Great service here!

The reception was great, it was raining and he still walked me out to the truck. Also, the back door of the truck got stuck in the up position, so had to return it that way, but they didn't make a problem of it!

Always take a picture of the dash. We only drove 40 miles but was charged for 60 miles but due to not taking a photo of the odometer, it was not able to be argued. Go with a cargo van vs a truck if you can to cut some costs down.

My husband went in to grab some boxes and asked Scott Sandoval if there was a uhaul in Galena Illinois. Scott responded "I don't know... is there? That's a simple Google search. Why not go home and look it up yourself?" He was sitting right in front of his computer. There was NOBODY else in the store except another employee. We've used this place in the past. Never again.

I rented a trailer several times from this location. The service is always spot-on. The staff working at this location is excellent. Very friendly, upbeat, and helpful. And I appreciate the quick check-in and check-out process. I will continue to visit this location for the foreseeable future.

After another location couldn't complete my hitch installation due to missing pre-drilled holes, this location was able to help me out. Then when the wiring kit for that hitch wouldn't work for my car, Scott (the GM I believe) went above and beyond to get the correct wiring kit from another location, and get it installed all before my move in a couple of weeks. THANK YOU SCOTT. Sorry my car was such a pain.

The office staff was extremely helpful and courteous. However, as a corporate account that frequently travels long distances, we require a reliable vehicle. Unfortunately, the 15-foot truck we received had several issues. The gear shifting was problematic, making it difficult to change gears, and the steering wheel moved side to side while driving on the expressway. This was my first corporate rental, and it was not a positive experience in terms of the vehicle provided.

Poor and rude service at Uhaul Arlington Heights. Damaged my vehicle while installing hitch. I went to Uhaul Arlington Heights for a hitch installation on my RAV4 on July 28, 2023. The hitch was not installed properly and this resulted in the tail gate of my RAv4 not locking. The manager at the Uhaul, who himself retrieved the hitch from the trunk of my RAV4 before installing it, was rude and declined to take any responsibility. He asked me to file a claim with Uhaul's insurance, Repwest. My vehicle was almost undrivable since the tail gate would not lock. Repwest declined my claim and I was left with paying a body shop $523 to fix the locking mechanism of the tail gate. I would recommend not to go to this location of Uhaul for hitch installation.

The employees are very nice. I had a problem with the light for the trailer on my car and they tried in every way to help me. I rent at haul des plaines every week but the workers there are terrible. Now because of the employees I come to this location even though it is 5 miles away from my house.

I love this IHaul. The staff is amazing. They are always extra kind and nice to me, which I so appreciate. Moving has never been my favorite thing. Yet this location somehow makes it better with an air of fun in the office. I have used this location several times. And amazingly they remember me! They are fair and honest and kind and have the utmost integrity. You cannot beat that for customer service. My most recent move had a few fiascos since somehow I was not allowed in my new place when I was told I could move it. But fortunately the UHaul team was there for me and worked with me to make I have a vehicle lined up when I finally was able to move. I cannot recommend this UHAUL location enough. AND at the very end when I dropped my UHAUL vehicle off, and was tired and hot and a little frustrated, as is par for the course when moving, I called an UBER that was not going ti get there for a long time. The team graciously welcomed me to stay inside to relax and calm down and cool down until my ride showed up. Rarely is anyone that kind. I am so grateful I went there and would not hesitate to recommend anyone going there for best in class service.

I don't write reviews - but this time I must. I rented twice during summer of 2021 and met different employees and all of them are top notch! Friendly, helpful, clean trucks, ready to go. Great location. Great service.

I’ve been to a few U-Haul locations in the Chicago area and this is definitely the best one. The customer service is great and the U-Haul trucks are extremely clean and well-maintained. John, who helped me out, was very thorough and answered all my questions very well.

Had to rent a one-way vehicle trailer on short notice. The staff accommodated all my needs, addressed any concerns and questions, and had the vehicle and trailer waiting for me when I arrived. Very friendly and courteous.

I just needed to rent a trailer on a Sunday afternoon and it was a great experience. The staff was very helpful, and the prices were great. I’m glad to have this location so close to my house. It takes out all the trouble of renting a trailer.

It would be my recommendation to NOT book your reservation with them. After making the initial reservation and securing it with my credit card, I was already nervous and wanted to call and confirm the truck and pricing the next business day. There was no need. Another employee called at 7:30 the next morning and said, although a booking was made, they had no trucks available. In addition, the requested pick up time was NOT what had been discussed. Extremely disappointed but relieved I found out the day before. They will not be receiving any of my future business.

Please do not rely on them. I booked the truck two weeks in advance and did online check in 12 hours before picking it up. When I get there, manager said the person who suppose to return the truck has not returned. After waiting for one hour manager informed me that I am out of luck and find arrangement elsewhere. He said UHaul will honor $50.00 but never got the money. if you are moving and want to ensure you will have the truck, this is not the place to go.

Made a reservation online for a 20' truck on Wednesday for that following Saturday. Quickly got a confirmation email saying someone would contact me by 6 pm Friday night. Friday at around 10 am I decided to call the location to make sure truck would be there and everything was set. The person said truck would be there but I still may get a call confirming later in the day. Saturday morning we get there to pick up the truck and can't see any that size when pulling up. We get in there and the employee and then the owner has trouble pulling up my reservation. They finally pull it up and tell me it isn't at this location it is in the city. Then the employee starts blaming his "incompetent" coworker for telling me it would be there. They also claimed it said in the system someone called and told me where I was going to have to pick it up. Well there was no way we were going to the city to pick it up but they were acting like it wouldn't be a big deal and would only set us back a couple hours. One of the worst parts is they said we couldn't have any of the trucks on the property because they had reservations! The closest truck they could find us not even in the size we wanted was in Crystal Lake. We thought there was no way we were getting a truck anywhere else, but called Penske down the street and they said they had one ready for us and it also ended up being quite a bit cheaper.

I've rented from this facility a number of times through the last 10 years both personally and professionally and they've always been super helpful. I've seen some poor reviews of them but I can say with confidence that the service has always been great. I've rented from them at least 5-6 times. The manager Ryan is a really nice guy.
