I took my truck in to get the steering box replaced and an alignment. Fast service was the only thing positive about the whole experience unfortunately, and fast isn't always a good thing. I drove it home and I could tell the steering wasn't right. They tried to tell me that I needed a new steering column because it wouldn't catch when turning but in reality they didn't install the pitman arm onto the steering box all the way which left my truck in a VERY unsafe condition. The next day I was able to remove the nut on the pitman arm with a oil filter wrench (it's a large nut and clearly it wasn't torqued properly). I was able to beat the pitman arm up onto the shaft of the steering box another 1/8th inch to where it actually should sit and installed a lock washer which they also didn't put on (all steering boxes have one since that's the only thing that helps keep the nut on.) Now that the pitman arm is all the way on my steering works as it should no slop and never needed anything that they said it did, other than another alignment since they aligned it with one of the most important parts loose and not installed properly. I feel all they did was take my hard earned money and gave me a truck that potentially could have hurt or killed someone had that nut came off. I'm very disappointed with the whole situation considering a shop that had a 4.5 star review did this to me.

HONEST PLACE I had a problem with my pulleys and belt. I was originally quoted around 1300. I accepted. About 30 mins later, the shop called me back and said they looked at it more and saw one of the components was in good shape and didn't need to be replaced, bringing my new total to around $680~. They could have just done the work on the quote I accepted and called it a day, but they didn't want to charge me for something I didn't need. This is the best example of an honest business practice. I will be a returning customer!

We took our daughter’s car to get looked at because it wasn’t running properly. After they looked they diagnosed it with needing a complete new engine. Rather than giving us a quote for how much it was going to cost to replace it, they researched and discovered our car had a lifetime warranty on the engine. They could have made a lot of money off of us, but instead they told us we could take it to the dealership and get replaced for no charge. They’re so honest, easy to work with and good people! We will continue to take our vehicles to them!

Feldkamps has earned my trust and always takes good care of my van. They are close, convenient and will be where I take my vehicle from now on. New to Mahomet and a Senior Citizen so I greatly appreciate the courtesy and efficient way they handle things. Cassie, in the office is great and does a vert good job as well.

I needed a new tire unexpectedly and on a really tight turnaround time. Less than 12 hours my tire was ordered, delivered, installed, and I was back on the road! Thankful for this great small town service and understanding of their customers needs! They even worked with me on pricing and I was very thankful!

My 2019 Chevy Cruze had the rear passenger side brakes seize-up on me while parked. I waited until Feldkamp's opened (according to their website) and called. I ended up having to drop off the keys in the drop box because nobody was actually there. It could have been the weather. It was extremely cold. I was given a time-line for repair and a list of items that needed replaced. I was NEVER given an estimate but I had to get the repairs completed so I paid the nearly $800 on top of the 6 days of car rental so I could go to work. It turns out that THE EXACT SAME ISSUE happened today, exactly 4 weeks later; 3 weeks after I got the car back. I never had issues with Rob when this place was C-U West. I will not be going back.

Rapid and reliable service. My wife has used her tires on 2 separate occasions within a 1 year span to very helpfully remove wayward construction fixation devices from the roadway which has resulted in the need for tire repair. I can attest that said tires were rapidly and adequately repaired and my wife is doubtlessly out looking for more sharp objects to remove from the roadway with her tires. Took tire there because it continued to lose 12 lb a day. They told me I had a very SLOW leak in the valve stem. Replaced it, and it did not need to be. My tire was flat the next day. Took it back out there and they did not soak my tire. Just sprayed it and came back in and told me I had a nail in the sidewall and could not be replaced. I sat right by the window where I could see what they were doing. I asked to be shown where the nail was and they would not show me. They are brand new tires. Took to another place and they found a nail in the tire but guess what it wasn't in the sidewall. Goes to show Feldkamps guy either don't know what they're doing or didn't want to do their job

BEWARE: My truck had intermittent starting so I called Feldkamps West since they were close to me. MISTAKE! They towed it and diagnosed a bad fuel pump , I was a bit leery since the fuel pump was only a year old. I paid $650 and I left. 3 hours later wouldn’t start again. Towed back to Feldkamps and was told it was a distributor wire loose.?! Got it back home and next day wouldn’t start , had to have it towed up there again. It sat there for 4 hours. I gave up and took it to a shade tree mechanic in Urbana. Come to find out the truck was simply out of time. He timed it charged me $120 and haven’t had a problem since. Management at Feldkamps wouldn’t return my calls / email or make ANY effort to make it right. Go somewhere else!!!!!!

Was not impressed with their shop. 2 vehicles in there with 1 vehicle being quoted $2k repair. Took that to another shop and all it needed was $125 repair.. most of which was diagnostic expense. The 2nd vehicle had brake work done and needed to go back in because they left something loose. One owned up to the error. Someone else blamed it on repairs needed which, again, another shop verified was fine.

Had a blowout on a country road just outside of mahomet last Friday and Feldkamps was the closeset one I was able to "limp" to. They put my donut on and never asked for a penny in return. They were very nice and very professional - What started as a horrible situation, ended being a tolerable one. I can't say thank you enough for helping me out that day!

Had my vehicle towed in last week with no clue as to why it wasn’t starting. Had replaced battery, alternator, and starter all back in July of 22. And they were able to help me and were very prompt and professional about. Will recommend and be coming back.

I had my car towed here for an increasingly loud rumble sound coming from the back of the car. Devin and David discussed possibilities and gave me an estimate for rear brakes and bearings. They ordered the parts and the car was ready at the end of the next business day. The mechanics at Feldkamp's West Automotive are not only very experienced, but they are willing and able to speak directly to the customer. The car is running so smoothly! I really trust this business and highly recommend Feldkamp's. They are honest and fair.

I am so happy right now. I was fortunate to be able to have Feldkamps Automotive & Towing at my service this last week and a half. My Ford Fusion tragically required an engine replacement. My first thought was to explore what would be most safe, affordable, and most effective in solving my engine issue. After having heard through family and friends that Feldkamps’ was the place to go, I decided to give it a go! Less than two weeks after my engine being shot (flywheel in 3 separate pieces), Feldkamps Automotive and Towing had me towed away in no time and had me back on the road with a reliable, carefully installed, directly replaced engine. They were always available to me when I had a question or concern and answered over the phone with patience and honesty. If you need automotive service, there is not a dealer, local mechanic, or group of technicians I could suggest more. I promise you. Feldkamps is the practical and effective/successful way to go. First time customer, last minute had engine light come on, so pulled into their business. They made time to check it for codes, sent me on my way, no charge and an explanation so I had peace of mind to drive it home. Will definitely send some business their way!

Can’t recommend Feldkamps West highly enough. Did great work with a quick turn around at a fair price. Made the drop off and pick up super convenient and best of all were nice people every time we spoke. I feel terrible I missed the mechanics name who did the diagnosis and repair but wanted to give him a shoutout for being the most friendly mechanic I’ve talked to in a long time. Will be back any time my vehicles need repairs.

I took my car in for a ac problem, they did fix the compressor and did a great job at that. However they also suggested that I get my struts and sway bar links replaced. About 3 weeks after the repair, my wife said the car was making a funny noise, I drove the car and it sounded like the front end was going to fall out from under it. Having recently moved from the area I took it to a different mechanic, after their diagnostic they found that the sway bar end links were very loose and not properly tightened and said “the struts look fairly new but they also needed to be replaced”. I explained that I just had the struts replaced roughly a month ago, to his reply “you must’ve gotten some bad parts”. I then called Feldkamp’s and requested the information to have the struts warrantied out and they provided me with that information which I was thankful for but I also requested a partial refund for the labor cost of the parts that I was going to have to have replaced again and I was told they could not refund any portion of the cost, which was unreasonable to me because now I am going to have to pay a second time to have the bad parts they put on replaced and done right. Just really unfortunate that it all planned out this way and now I’m out double the labor cost and Feldkamp’s was not willing to work with me for a portion of the labor cost. ?

We took our car in for continuously low tire pressure. They patched it right away and were super helpful with questions I had. They were very reasonable, we will definitely be recommending them! And we will be bringing our vehicles back in the future!

8 hours from home, we had a wheel bearing go out returning from our vacation just outside of town. Their towing services was wonderful, and they worked us in the next morning in front of all their other scheduled jobs to get us on the road again in a couple hours.

Kathy was awesome right from the first time we spoke to her on the phone. Our altanator went out, we were miles from home and knew absolutely no one in Mahomet and that's not mentioning the fact my boyfriend was freaking out. She remained on the phone until we were in site of their shop and made us at ease about their professionalism from the moment we met. Josh gave me the diagnosis within a minute of popping the hood. Kathy shot straight with me about what they could do for us and gave me an accurate estimate of the amount and cost of the new part and labor. She never once tried to sell me anything that wasn't an issue. Kathy and Josh treated us like we were old friends or repeat customers. As I stated I'm not from Mahomet but I'd travel there gain if I ever have an vehicle issue ever , bottom line they were professionalism, friendly and my boyfriend and I know we got our money's worth because they not only made us feel confident about their professionalism to fix our vehicle but also but also the personalizatio they gave directly to our situation. They made us feel at home and like friends and everyone deserves to have an auto mechanic shop that is operated by professional friends.

I had my fuel relay and fuel pump replaced. The crew at FeldKamps were great at communicating, the price was fair and when I wasn't able to get there to pick it up myself, they towed it to me free of charge! I highly recommend using this garage.

Summer of 2019 we took our car here for repairs. The main repairs were completed, but the car computer was not synced and important systems were kicking on and off randomly such as ABS. Only took me 1 call to dealer with the VIN number to get the codes to resync system. Took me 5 minutes. Took a different car to them yesterday to enquire about estimate for repairs on AC system. No mention of cost and told to return today so they could look at the car. We dropped it off and they never mentioned any fees or costs to find problem and give estimate. They called back and told us the problem and gave estimate as well as demand a diagnostic fee. While discussing on the phone the owner said she told us about the fee (which she did not). I kindly asserted that no mention of a diagnostic fee was made. Was called a list and told she spoke to us yesterday and today when we dropped off the car and told us she informed us of the fee. I told her she did not and we never spoke to her yesterday as we spoke to a mechanic in the garage yesterday and no women at all. She then said that we had a car there once a year ago and that it is our responsibility to know their fees and policies. I reminded her it had been a year and prices and policies change in that time frame and we should have been informed. After this statement she proceeded to spend the next ten minutes insulting my entire family and calling us crooks and criminals. I asked her to keep it professional and she said we had to pay the fee and come get the car. We told her not to do any repairs and asked when we could pick up the car. She implied on the phone that she would be keeping the car. I then asked if she was refusing to return our car and she implied yes, so I asked if I needed to call the police. At this statement she told us she would call the police if we came on the property. This was clearly her attempt to try to steal the car over a fee we were not informed of in advance. She then threatened to call the police if I came on the property. My father-in-law and I went to pick up the car and on the way I called the police for assistance and was told they were called and told the car was repaired and the garage could keep it until we paid for the repairs. No repairs were made. After many threats and insults made toward us we were able to arrive and had to park on another property and my father-in-law walk to the garage to pick up his car. No repairs were made. I looked up the parts and made some calls and they wanted to over charge us for the only part we needed. They also wanted to charge us for fluids we do not need. On top of that I was was by the owner their labor rate. They wanted to charge us for 3 hours labor on a 1 hour repair. I would not go here for service EVER under any circumstances. They don't finish the work leaving critical systems kicking on and off. They insult you and your entire family for not being mind readers. They try to tack on hidden fees and steal your vehicle if you question the fees. They call the police and lie about services rendered. The owner runs this business with shady and illegal tactics. We did get our car back but were told to never return. What a joke. Like we would ever return here after how we were lied to, treated, and harassed today. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

OK so we have taken our vehicle here 3 times. 1st time was to replace the water pump & the heat was not working.. they fixed the water pump but we still had no heat.. 2nd time was to go back to fix heat and an oil leak. They charged over 300 $ just to fix the oil leak, when we got the car back it was still leaking oil... So we returned it, they told us that they had to order in a whole other part to fix the oil leak ?.. So basically the oil leak situation should of been corrected the 1st time we went in instead of charging us & NOT fixing the problem in the first place then tell us something different the 2nd time around & double charging us for something we already paid for..

HONEST, FAIR PRICES, QUALITY WORK,, AWESOME STAFF. Feldkamps recently did some motor work on my car and did a awesome job. The price they quoted was what the price they charged. Many times in the past when I’ve had cars worked on at other shops when they started looking at it they’ve told me it needs all sorts of additional work. Other shops were quoting a much higher price for the same work. Chris was fantastic. The car needed to be at the shop 3 days and he kept me informed on everything. I can’t thank Chris and the Feldkamps team enough. This will be the only place I will take my cars to in the future. Roger5/7/2020

I've not got any work done here yet but I stopped in to get a quote on my mirror glass on my driver's side of my 2017 escape. Was dealt with very professionally to the point that I recommend this businesses service. I recommended them to my neighbor who had a taillight module issue and this place is helping them save a bundle just by being straight with them. We all know dealers try to rip folks off. This is why everyone should check out local mom and pops every time. I only wish I had work for them to do on my vehicle. Give it time and I'll be back. P.S. you guys should advertise your mechanical services more loudly. My neighbors and I thought you were strictly a towing service.
