Locked my keys in the car. These guys showed up in about 10 minutes and got the car open quickly with no damage. The fee was very reasonable. Friendly people, too.

Had to move my vehicle from Champaign to Bloomington within two hours and called in. The lady picked up the phone call quickly helped me schedule a pick up and John show up within 30 mins. John is very straightforward and kind. He knows what he was doing. He quickly got my car on the truck and provided updates along the way to Bloomington. I can not ask better service and the price is good too.
I was stuck on the side of the road with a bad leaking and smoking issue coming from my car. John helped me out in a desperate time of need. He offered to put water in the car to see If it would start. No luck there so John explained that my radiator may have been bad and towed me for a really Cheap price. Best in the city is my opinion and Very helpful. Came right in the Nick of time.

My 18 year old son visited his sister on campus. He parked at a spot where apparently he was not supposed to. He is in high-school and works on weekends so he can have some money to spend. His towing bill came to $320.00 . They gave him a short window to pay otherwise it would be even higher. This is insane. I find it to be excessive and cruel punishment. He could have lost his car. I never had a traffic ticket that high and threatened the amount to increase daily. Sick!!!!!!!! Don't remember being that upset .
Charged way less than everyone else I called and were on time and friendly! Even helped me out beyond unlocking the door after I wasn't sure how to get into my trunk without a release. Would highly recommend to anyone in need!!!
Matt was sent by Smith through my All State roadside claim. I am a college student and was not with my car when it was picked up or dropped off. He called to confirm the plate and called when he dropped it off. The car was put exactly where I had requested. The company and Matt made my day easier. Thank you guys!

Had a fantastic experience with this company. Geico said it would take an hour for them to tow my car but Tom called 15 minutes later to let me know he was on his way. We were somewhere else picking up food and he was super kind and patient about being a little late. He did a GREAT job. Polite, friendly, and professional the whole time. Got into an accident and used our roadside insurance! Not only did they DAMAGE MY CAR MORE but we got asked NOT to report it. The car FELL OFF THE TOW TRUCK! The car was drivable before Smith’s came and picked it up and now it’s underivable! I would rather be stranded on the side of the road then deal with this company. The guys said “I don’t know what happened, this had never happens before”! Obviously a LIE considering the reviews !
Locked my keys in my car. Art came within 20 minutes of me calling. He was very quick and also very friendly!! Other companies closed at 5 and would’ve charged an extra $30 to come after hours. Smith’s doesn’t charge you extra until after 7pm. Will definitely use them in the future but let’s hope I don’t lock my keys in my car again. Thanks Art!!
I highly recommend this towing company and if you can request Andrea she was very polite and did a wonderful job towing my car, they are the cheapest towing I've found in town and are very kind and professional. They called me when they were about 5 min away and I only had to wait about 20-30 minutes. I would call them again anytime. Thank you Smith's towing!
Jennifer was the most pleasant person to deal with in a situation like this. I was expecting a $200 tow bill in all actuality it cost me $65 to get my vehicle from Champaign to the outskirts of Urbana. I highly recommend this place and if you get a chance to speak with Jennifer you will not be disappointed.
Had a blowout that required a tow because of body damage, and my insurance company called them for the tow. They seemed to take a long time to get out to me but fine, I can live with that. After his truck died a few times, he managed to get my car mounted. He drove quite slowly...which I guess might be good, but he was talking about 24 hour shifts on a regular basis, which sounds extremely unsafe, add that to being on his phone most of the time while driving... No wonder he drives so slowly!
I might be able to forgive all that if my car hadn't FALLEN OFF THE TRAILER. He kept saying "I don't know why that happened!" But it was pretty obvious that the side he neglected to strap down was the side that fell off. Unsurprisingly it falling off caused some more damage, which he tried to argue was there before. Lucky for him the car was about ready to be scrapped, and at this point it had been about 3 hours since I had gotten stuck on the side of the road, so I didn't care as much as I should have.
Long story short, if you can avoid using them, please do.
This place is absolutely ridiculous. We had to pay outrageous prices for our parts. The mechanic was extremely rude. He charged us for 3 hours of work even though it only took him an hour and a half. That included him messing around, taking smoke breaks and waiting for a friend. After finally paying, we asked for a receipt and he said "we don't give out receipts". I would stay away from this place. It's terrible service and they rip you off big time.
I got stuck in a ditch during some bad snow. As an out-of-stater, I just googled a tow company to help me out. I'm so glad I called 217/Smith's. I was told the wrecker wouldn't be able to get to me for about an hour. He actually got there within about 40 minutes. He (I have completely forgotten his name) called me to let me know when he was close and confirmed my location. He walked me through the process of how we were going to go about getting me pulled out. It was quick and easy, even though I had buried my tires in about eight inches of snow. I was charged an incredibly reasonable fee, and the employee that helped me (I really wish I could remember his name) was very professional and clearly knew what he was doing.
While it is unlikely I will ever find myself in this same situation on that same stretch of highway in Illinois, if I ever do I will absolutely be calling 217/Smith's again.
