The facility was practically empty when I arrived about 2PM on a Wednesday.
IDK how this location has 4 stars. I visited this location in December of 2023. I was told I was sent a letter demanding that I verify my insurance through the online portal. I never received a letter for the car in question. I did however receive one for my other vehicle so I knew what I was dealing with to some extent. 4 different reps told me that my plates had been suspended because the state couldn't verify my insurance electronically. I was driving with suspended plates for 2 months while ha ing both proper registration and insurance. They told me I will pay a $100 fee on top of my registration (not true). I called my insurance and they stated they had already verified the inquiry from the state. The rep at the DMV told me they received the verification within a minute, and that my insurance paid the late fee (not true). I called my insurance and they said they never paid or covered a late fee. Everytime I visit this place they are trying to tack on extra fees, that I never end up paying. I go to sterling DMV, and they do not have these issues. The incompetence level at this facility perplexes me every time. Never personally heard of a good experience here in Chadwick.
Website needs updated says open Saturday 730am to join. Drove all the way to get plates and it's closed on Saturdays.

There were 5 ahead of me. They had 3 working, 1 was taking people for there driving test.
In and out in 20 minutes, got both car stickers. Was very happy.
I took a 1/2 day off of work on a friday to get my Real ID applied for and to renew a expired trailer plate sticker. My wife went along to get hers also. Was there at 1pm with only a few people in front of us. The ladies are fast and friendly ! We were seen within 15 mins and we were out of there by 1:45. Thank you ladies !
The staff is wonderful & friendly to work with; was greeted nicely when I walked in & was done with multiple things in 15 minutes! Thank you so very much; greatly appreciated!
People lined up for a block outside not to mention all those waiting inside. When you try to call, you wait through a long message that finally ends in press 1 to speak to someone, but you get nothing but dead air. I've tried to get any info on the ST plates that I want to transfer my TA plates to, but there is NO option to do this on line. That plate is not even listed among the available plates. Tried calling State. Once again, nothing but dead air after a long intro. Gotta love our efficient well, run state of ILL!
Arrived at 11:20 am, waited outside for 45 min with no contact, only 2 people working, at 12:25 they both left for lunch, I stayed and waited, at 1:25 reopened and came and gave out #'S I was second in line and they sent about 7 of us in, the lady outside stayed outside giving out #s but came in about 20 min later, they waited on 4 people ahead of me just skipped my number and let others who were way back in line in first. I think we are adults and could get our own numbers and both of them should have been helping people in order of numbers given out. Finally got out of there at around 2:30 pm.
The best DMV that I have ever been to. All the help was so kind and friendly, even though they were swamped with people. They were quick and friendly. I will definitely come here again!
Went to the Chadwick DMV today and I must say the experience was extremely pleasant. I expected the same all grumpy people but instead it was a pleasant surprise. There were three girls there very friendly very helpful very knowledgeable. Thank you very much ladies!
Kindest staff, I went an hour and a half out of my way to visit this place and it was totally worth it. There is only 2 workers, both female, and both work fast and are very knowledgeable and friendly. I never thought any DMV could be so kind, I hope it always stays this way cause the staff there was phenomenal! They were so kind to my father who is an elderly man in his 70s, he’s Cuban so his English isn’t the best but he’s been in America more years that he’s been in Cuba, this place treated him like he was a human not like he was just another specimen. Their kindness was greatly appreciated ?
Stopped at the Chadwick Secretary of State branch yesterday and was dreading it. I say that because I always hated going there and dealing with the 2 most pitiful state workers in IL. Boy was I surprised to see that there were two new young ladies there instead of the former workers. Let me tell you it was the best experience I ever had there. The girls greeted my daughter and I with a smile and were very courteous throughout. They truly were both very nice. The state needs to ensure that they hire more employees of this caliber.
I have been there only a few times in 2017 and once in 2018. The staff is very professional and welcoming to everyone. As an interpreter and as a customer I have been to many of DMVs including Chicago land, but this little town DMV is the best experience I have ever had. The staff there is exemplary and that is to be recognized.
This place is great. The 2 girls working there now are super friendly and helpful. I will never go back to the Sterling DMV and I live in Sterling. I highly recommend driving the extra 17 miles.
The guy in the glasses is the rudest person alive. Been using this facility for 11 years and he is always a total douche! Any at other job I would fire him with all the complaints and his attitude! The old lady too! Total hag! From Chadwick I am sure! Only plus no one goes here except the crappy locals!
