Their site said they had 3 engines for my car and when I showed up to buy one the guy said they didnt have any. Update your site if you don't have what you show
I was a returning customer, I came from the other side of the island, you guys lost my business, told me to take off part myself for a stereo that is $100 i said ok, for a 20 year old car, the car that had my part was on top of another car, i had to climb up onto a car to get in the car to take off the interior part i needed, i asked for some tools, they wouldnt give me any, after my buddy gave them 10 bucks for tools and i told them that i drove 2 hrs away finally they gave me some tools, i needed a different size socket and told them to give me a different size socket, tall guy made a big deal about it and wouldnt give me a different size socket, I left empty handed, told him that he lost my business and im never coming back to you guys again. He has anger issues and wanted to fight me and my buddy, we left empty handed, what a waste of time, horrible customer service, place is looking like trash and how they treat you is trash. Dont come here, dont waste your time.
The name shouldn’t be discount auto parts. They want new part prices but I understand they need to keep the doors open. Go other places, these guys just waste your time.
the filipino guy that works in the front desk and also lives at 94-417 Kahuanani St sold me a car mercedes 300 that had a bad engine. he told me just needed basic parts swap like new hood bumper headlight etc. i asked why doesnt he do it? his suspicious answer was he couldnt and his freinds shop was busy. at the time i didnt think anything but it was suspicious as you dont need a shop for this.
i asked if i could drive it home because i only live 1 mile away, he said no because power steering leaks. i thought that was also suspicious because you can actally drive without power steering fluid esp on kam hwy its all straight. but i didnt think anything of it
at the time of sale the title was in someone elses name, and the date scratched out and rewritten. which is also ILLEGAL because that is called title jumping. at that it time was also suspicious but i didnt think anything of it
he demonstrated the engine starts but he quickly shut it off, at this time that also was suspicious but i didn't think anything of it. there was a lot of mercedes on his property which showed me he must be some kind of reseller or mercedes fixer. come to find out all these reasons above was because the car had NO OIL and thats why he turned it on for half a second. engine is entirely junk and had only a few drops of oil come out, literally bone dry
I don't know HOW they are getting a rating of only 3.5!!! Jelmar was polite, knowledgeable and efficient. Also, DAP had the absolutely best price for the item I needed. I live on Big Island, I ordered at 4-something in the afternoon and the part was shipped the next day. I won't even bother calling anyone else when I need another part!!!!
Had my 2006 Lexus is350 with a knocking engine. Arnold was able to help me find a newer 2014 engine that was compatible. He also gave me a great price on the engine and a 6 MONTH WARRANTY!!! nobody else does that. Arnold was able to refer me to his friends shop (Master Mechanic) in waipahu (who also warranty his work) and deliver my engine for me. this has been the best experience I've had with a private business such as this. I'll be coming back again for sure. I usually never write reviews, but the service was that great. He doesnt advertise much but definitely needs to have his inventory out there, give them a call and they'll let you know if they have what your looking for. Thank you guys again!!!
Waste of time. This isn't a legit company they obviously do not keep inventory. But will waste your time and tell you they have a part but can't find it when you get there.
Called for an engine for my ford. They said they had a low mileage one and they wanted 900. I asked for proof of the mileage and they said they had it. I drive across the island and they can't find the engine they were talking about but they had one like it. Had no proof of mileage and they up'd the price. These guys are ridiculous what a waste of my time.
The lot is shared with a tow company and drive way for discount auto is one way in and one way out. I was there looking for a tail light for my Dodge and they wanted $75 for used one and brand new cost $29 on Amazon. #ripoff
These guys have no idea what they have in their yard. Take a gamble with them if you want to but be prepared to waste an hour and a half of your time and gas going to look at a part they said they had but didn't.
