Could probably use more signage explaining the procedures. I was a total newcomer and was not familiar with the location of the scales and how they worked, much to the frustration of the workers and the regulars. Once on the scrapyard, wasn't sure where to offload my old washing machine. Other than that, I was in and out of there fairly quickly.
I have mixed feelings about this yard everyone is great except one individual that everyone dislikes. Other then that great prices
If I could change two things on The yard it would be firing the individual and make sure they answer the phone!!!! They never answer the phone.
My husband been scraping since he was a kid…we know how much we’re supposed to be paid. We had a truck load of metal, iron etc. why we only received $19 last time we had way less and received 30 when I say these people are scammers. It’s crazy when “We” are the ones who bring the business plus they are very rude about everything. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone!

1976--- still going...I kept going..my father started bringing me to Newell in 1976....I was born behind the property... before they came here...I use to ride my mini bike all thru the property...it has truly been a life changer and a blessing all at the same time....an to the first people that opened the fence....to the people that's keeping the fence opened.... thank you so much... Newell saved a lot of lives..... including mine.
I’m a dealer and took a school bus there and they had the tow company not all the way on the scale. This was a trick to decrease the weight they were paying. After I complained and they looked at the cameras, they still won’t give me the correct weight payment. Every time I call I get the run around or hung up on. This place is scamming people by not paying the correct weights for their scrap. I still have not gotten paid and no one has contacted me.
This place is known as Newells in the area. They usually pay the highest price for ferrous metal in the Atlanta area.
I like the fact that they keep the unloading area swept back to protect the customer's tires. Flat tires are no fun, especially if it's bigger than a nail.
UPDATE
I hadn't been here in a few months, but I had a few things to take. I took my ticket to the payment window, and less than a minute, the lady slid a check out to me. I said, I'm sorry I meant to say I wanted it on my cash card.
She said, we don't do cash cards anymore. Oh really, I said. Thought that was odd. So, took the check to the bank down the road and went inside. Did the typical bank procedure and slid everything to the teller. Within a minute she tells me she won't be able to cash the check because it has a Time Stamp on it.
What? I said. I couldn't cash the check for another hour and a half, by then the bank would be closed.
I believe the lady at SA could've and should've told me this piece of information. I've never gotten a check and had problems cashing it.
No longer have cash cards and time stamping the checks, what's going on?

Awful. Been doing business here many years as a dealer. Locked in a price then backpedaled and said that was for cars only. Tim and Erik are a joke. Way too many chiefs, and believe me everyone thinks they are the chief. Every time I go there it is a hassle because nobody has the computer skills to put notes in a system for a customer who has been coming in for years. Girl told me at the scale I guess you will have to have them mail you a check because there is no pricing for your account. Bet she doesn’t wait for her payroll check to be mailed. The level of incompetence is mind boggling.
Why would you give a check to a customer to say cash it at a certain time written on the check? Also, it's hard to cash this check. Places are saying the numbers are too high on the check or the system can't read the check.Does the recycling place not have the money in the bank? Also, their website says 1pm they close, but they close at 12pm. Owner or owners should explain this? The only good thing about this place is the workers that help you with the material.
Really great once you figure out where to go and everything depending on what you bring.
They take a decent amount of for plastic and glass if you bring that sort of stuff but prices tend to be pretty nice.
Friendly and professional office staff. Quick and efficient field staff. You do have to be watchful of other patrons who seem to fly in and out of the areas where visibility is impaired by trucks parked in front of directional or traffic signs and along the edges of the drop area. I saw 3 near collision experiences due to lack of consideration by other drivers for their surroundings and incoming traffic.
The scrap metal and aluminum can service workers was really helpful and fast pace. We were in and out of there in less than 20 mins. The prices for the material wasn't bad really decent amount for what we had. Pictures will be loaded soon. Keeping our earth healthy while making a little money is not bad at all....
This was my first time visiting SA Recycling. I've read some bad reviews, but they had the best overall customer satisfaction score. When I first arrived, I was greated and given polite directions about the process. After Scaling, I was directed to meet a man at the unloading point. He saw the Infantry License plate on the front of my Truck and we had a conversation. As it Turns out, we BOTH served in my beloved 3d Infantry Division during the same time in Germany. My Brother! The exit process was also handled with courtesy and politeness. I'm not at all concerned with what was paid. My biggest deal was that I received estimates from $125 to $300 to have the junk removed. SA made this project very accommodating. Thank you.

This place is the biggest tip off. Do not take your scrap there. They think everbody is dumb toward scrap metal. Had 69 pounds of extruded aluminum and the guy said old sheet...wrong,tried to tell me my number one wire was communication wire. I'm telling you people,stay away from this place,they are out to screw you. I have no reason to say that if it wasn't true. Pcs metals union city they are the best just not open on saturday.
Had the misfortune to deliver here. No signage to indicate where you're suppose to go if you've never been here before (pull down to gate 2). After finally getting across the scale (pull to the end and turn around bc you will be waiting forever to go across it facing the wrong way) and trying to set up to get into the dock area. 1 employee who mustve been deaf bcuz I kept telling him to move & let me get into dock on my own & everytime I looked up, he was standing beside or behind my trailer. Smh Ive backed into tighter places much faster. If you deliver here ignore him and set yourself up. It'll go much faster trust me
I had a whole ben full of aluminum(container 35). The total came out to $8.10. Total waste of time. When I recycled my steel right after I talk to one of the employees how low my price was with the new company SA. He replied, "We are still the same company that we used to be Newell only changed our name to SA for the purposes of not paying a lawsuit." To me sounds like total Crooks. I WILL NEVER COME BACK.
Out of all the other scrap yards in Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area, Newell, ( Central Ave East Point Ga location ), consistently treats me the best as far as customer service and prices go. Sometimes there's a little bit of a wait but it's worth it. We have been going to that location 6 days a week for almost a year this month and with all things considered I really can't complain.
Just got back from taking some items to have recycled believe this place is a rip off. 320 lb which included a floor jack Dodge rotor KitchenAid stainless steel range along with just a couple of small items they ran it all through as 10 and paid $20.80, not worth my time at less than .07 cent a lb.
Called to get a metal recycling bin. Got VM left detailed message. No call back. Called back hours later and got no help from a company that has no customer service skills. Will not give them my business.

They changed their time. And closed earlier than stated everywhere on the internet: google, their website, office. Instead they hung a piece of paper with their new schedule by the scale their employee entrance door... How do you expect customers to see it. Just turned us around with 20,000lbs of steel and 2 junk cars. We were late for 4 minutes according to their new schedule that nobody knows. Even though we have registered account with them, with email and phone number notifications... They sent us increase in price by 0.50 cwb thats why we came, but never bother to send their new schedule. So imagine we have to store loaded equipment overnight somewhere and come back in the morning. All I can say is f@*/$^#*^ newell !!!!!!!!! No respect for customers.
First of all I want to say that I have been dealing with Newell Recycling for over 30 years and have always been treated right until June 29th,2013. I made a trip to recycle just like I do at least twice a year and I had assorted metals. The Mexicans take your stuff to the back if you have a large quantity of stuff and so when I go to get my read out from the scales I noticed they had 555 lbs of computer wire ( as they called it which was actually 100 pair telephone cable ) that they gave me .40 per lb. for. I had no idea where they took my stuff or even where they weighed my stuff. I knew that wasn't right so I questioned the guy that I've been doing business with for many years. I told him that the cables were actually 100 pair phone cables which bring between .80 and up to 1.60 per lb. He said no it was the same thing as computer cables.. So I leave and check 3 other scrap companies and sure nuff, I was right. Computer cable and phone cable are 2 different things so now I'm out between $250 and $700 because this guy didn't take the time to review the situation and I took his word because he never has treated me wrong. I would like to be compensated for my loss or I will never use Newel Recycling again and I do mean it. I'm not a huge customer like some companies but I am a continuous customer and I won't advise anyone to use them ever again if I'm not compensated soon. I am very disappointed and the more I think about it, the more upset I get about it.
If you're dropping off an AC unit, air handler, or anything to do with cool air/heat, make sure you have a contractors license or they won't take anything. Apparently, as of July 1, 2012, a law was passed that requires proof of purchase and installation so that no one can sell stolen goods. Would have been nice to know that when I called and asked about it this morning, before I drove all the way down, waited in line, had paper work processed and sat on the scale.
This kind of stuff should be posted in red print on their website. Not a happy customer right now.
