Dave and Doug were the captains that saved us yesterday! We were reviewing the wrong tide charts and stayed out too late in low tide resulting in our sailboat being grounded. So grateful that they came to our rescue as late as it was! They had to tow us all the way to our dock in the dark! It was a scary experience but they were very knowledgeable and professional making us feel like we were in good hands. Thank you so much again, we appreciate you.
Absolutely horrible. Do not waste your time or money.
We called yesterday for assistance. The boat shut off and would not turn back on.
The sub contractor assigned to the area was Captain James Freeman.
After over an hour we were told there were no rescue boats in the area. We explained we were now taking on water and had two small children with us. (Ages 2 and 8).
We were then told. Oh if you’re taking on water (we weren’t when we originally called) we can’t help you. But when you sink we can come retrieve the boat for $7,000. So there was no help available when the company was being paid the base rate. But once we sink magically you can come help?
This company put the lives of 6 people at risk yesterday.
They would rather see people be put in danger to make money.
Stay away from them. They take your hard earned money and still do not help.

They DID NOT send the park ranger to assist us. I had to call the sheriff offices who in turn connected me to communications and they got
me the park ranger. The park ranger had no request for assistant except down the call from communications.
And the money may not have came out of
My pocket. It came out of my insurance company. No matter who paying. This company puts a price tag on you and your family’s safety.
Capt. James and his crew from TowboatUS Greater Tampabay are amazing! They are all very professional, great communicators and provide timely service.
We had a very large tree fall on our boat and boat dock and was taking on water. Capt. James and his crew were able to free the boat with amazing effort and expertise. They pumped it out and tied it up at a neighbors dock for us.
I can not say enough of how well this crew took care of our boat in this unfortunate, crazy incident.

Ran out of gas off the coast of Anclote island. We broke down in the channel about 30 mins before sunset. Panicked because we have both our young children with us, we knew we had an endorsement through geico marine insurance. We called towboat US immediately. First response was captain Dan, he let us know he was pretty far from us and dispatched captain Scotty. Captain Scotty gave us a call with in minutes. We were panicked, broken down in the channel, and asked captain Scotty for advice. He advised us to move out of the channel if possible (which we were able to putter over to the island). He kept in contact with us the entire time letting us know his coordinates and arrival. He was there within 40 mins of calling. When captain Scotty arrived, he was cool, calm, and collected reassuring us we were in good hands. Captain Scotty followed us all the way in to our marina making us feel comfortable the entire time. TOWBOAT US and their captains are worth every penny!! I can’t recommend them enough!
So this is a double edge sword for us.
I want to give 5 stars because we paid 10,000 dollars for a issues we had after a hurricane. They were awesome.
However I am rating you low because I have recently gone w another company for our insurance on the water. We are full time cruisers and travel full time. We are in st. Pete Beach now, for maintenance. Which seems to be an issue with about 95% of the ANCHORED vessels on the water. I'm writing this review low because we have witnessed Tow Boat US tow 4 boats that's were disabled into the bay where we are anchored and dump them. If the laws are actually upheld and our FWC leaders would actually do the job they are appointed this would not be an issue. companies that will go pick up a vessel that is disabled to just move the boat to new location, and then dump them. I cannot support that. We have a real issue with defunct vessels that should be towed off the water. Not picked up because the owner can't fix it,and move it to a new location. You should tow them to a Marina or high n dry for repairs. I will not support this and I hope in the future you adjust policy to eliminate this action. It's wrong, and you are aiding a growing problem.
I can't say enough about this company. Of course the only reason why I had to call them was because of devastating news that my boat was sinking. Captain James and his crew were so professional and helped us in every way that they possibly could. Captain James stayed with us after the crew left and just discussed different things and gave my boyfriend the best information ever. Love love this company and Captain James!!!
i broke down in tampa bay on tue April,13,2021 called us boats they quickly came out and towed me in very nice, professional did a great job, got me right into dock . could have not done a better job. Thank you Boat US tow
Good ol Dan came and saved the day. We had fuel issues on the Crystal River. 30 minutes after the call Dan showed up. Great guy! Towed us right to the dock. I mean right to the dock!!
I want to compliment the professional and clear communication I had with a tow request from TowBoat US in New Port Richey, FL. It was a very busy boating day on July 18th. Our boat experienced fuel problems as a storm was approaching. Due to the high volume, a tow/service boat could not be dispatched for a couple of hours. Captain Daimin who was assigned to us kept us constantly updated as to his progress. Explained exactly where he was and the estimated time. Because of that and the storm, I had to call a friend to intervene. If Capt Daimin did not let me know, I would have kept sitting out the in the storm. He constantly checked up on us even after I told him we were towed by a friend to the closest dock. He wanted to make sure we were OK. Thank you Captain Daimin.
We have had to use Tow Boat a few times in the last year, and every time they are very professional & as promptly as possible. Jason was very fast today! Very professional & got to us from Madiera Beach so fast! We were in the gulf near Palmetto & it only took us an hour to be get hooked up.
If they don’t feel like coming out, they’ll price-gouge you out of using them. If you agree anyway, they’ll blatantly tell you that they’re not interested & hang up, leaving you stranded.
I like every thing about this. They saved us when we needed help. They were professional and waited until we were up and going. Kevin was personable and I loved his dog skipper.

Came out early on a Sunday morning and helped with our situation. Jason was professional and courteous (with some humor!) Resolved the issue quickly and got us on our way.
Can’t imagine boating without this membership, worth every penny.
Got a great deal for $99.00 for my whole first year. I see plenty of BoatUS captains out on the water so I know if I need them they aren't far away, and the captains and staff are super cool people. Very glad to have the peace of mind that comes with my membership.
My boyfriend and I have the Unlimited Gold plan on our sailboat. We wouldn’t leave the dock without it. It gives us peace of mind when we go out, knowing that we are covered, in case of any incidents.
I bought towboatus yesterday the person I talked to said it would be active after midnight. I called after midnight and was told that I was not able to use my membership. So instead of being towed safely to dock I was stranded in the ocean. I have to spend all night out. I’m very disappointed with them. I would never recommend them to anyone.
