Unhelpful and rude customer service. Called about missed trash pickup, ( 3rd time) service representative’s response was that the only solution she could offer was that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. Tomorrow is our regular pickup day hoping that is the case as the bin n is overstuffed! . The craziest part is trash was picked up on Friday on one side of the road while our side and my neighbors was missed? I don’t even understand how this could happen?? I do understand that this service is new to our area and mistakes occur but customer service representatives should be more helpful and courteous!!
I completed a request on 02/12/2026 for a bulk pick up. This company has neglected to take any action in picking up the sofa that has been sitting in my yard for weeks now. They keep saying it will be escalated and handled within 48 hours, which has been three times now they have missed this item in their “escalation of the issue”. Awful service.
Paid for service and still never recieved any and it’s going on the 2nd week now . This is completely unacceptable. I’m now loading my 2 trash cans in my pickup and bringing them to the dump , same place your trucks go … if I have to do this , don’t you figure I should get some type of refund in return , I’m going to save receipt from dump but I have already called and was insured that they would be here Wednesday cause Tuesday is my day , nobody came , called again then they were gonna come on Friday but again nobody … I called and all they can say is sorry and they will have someone come out … please send help or let us hire other companies for our trash cause costal is literally a TRASH company and not in a good way , they have no idea how to run a business and I’m a little confused how they won the bid for our county . Please help .
Update 2/18/26 trash finally got picked up , but they literally broke my sons basketball hoop ! So now I’m out $250 because of the negligence of one of the drivers at this company doesn’t know how to drive and not hit objects that are in my yard(Republic did this for 8+ years and never hit once ) I really hope somebody gets in contact with me to make this right because this IS NOT proper customer service and we aren’t able to even have another company .
Update is at the end of this post. Two week now and the same results. I know they suggest bagging all trash. Realistically, why waste a bag for a few items. The cans are not getting fully emptied. These are item that should just fall out. Unless the trucks have a design flaw that prevents them from emptying the can completely. I may need to wait outside one day to watch the driver.
Since this post, Coastal Waste has improved the services at my address and they are getting their guys are getting used to the route.
The Coastal Waste & Recycling truck did not show up Monday a week ago, then they showed up Thursday and did not pick up the debris because in their opinion the container was too heavy and then they showed up this Monday and again did not pick the garbage. This time they left another yellow note that the container was too close to the mailbox. (what a great excuse for not doing your job). This is already the continuous third time our garbage has not been picked. I can see that the company has only bad reviews. Maybe the residents of Hernando County should do something collectively to get rid of this extremely poor service provider.
I have seen a lot of comments on the service of Coastal Waste. We personally have had excellent service. They are here at almost the same time on pickup days, very efficient, and friendly. 5 star
Service is horrible, last week they pick up the debris just once and this week they did not pick up our debris and left us a yellow tag that the container was too heavy to be pick up. Picture attached.
Terrible trash service. Literally drives right by. Throws the cans they don't want to dump or feel they are obligated to dump, leaving trash scattered throughout the neighborhood. Call & get told they have until 8pm & if they don't comeback to call the following day. They were already here they aren't coming back. Call the following day & are told they will send someone out but never ask for your address & never does anyone come back. When you ask about putting the extra trash you've been accumulating (due to not being able to have the trash can lid open) their suggestions are
1. Hold it until the next pick up
2. Run it to the dump yourself.
Glad the county got the lower bid bc now the residents of the county will suffer cleaning trash up due to pests getting into it due to a horrible trash company. Good job Hernando County & Coastal for turning our county into a trash pile in less than a month. Do better, much better.
It’s a 1 star because there is no option for a zero!!! The collectors want a tip every year at Christmas time but can’t throw a shoe box sitting on top of the can, in the truck.. instead the floor is a better option!!!

If you only coming once a week I’m not gonna pay full price because why is the trash still sitting on the curb and it’s Wednesday
My mom’s trash can is over flowing. Your inconsistency with services doesn’t balance out with a prepaid service. People are entitled to get the service they pay for with peace of mind.
I am extremely disappointed in the service that Coastal Waste & Recycling has shown Hernando County residents. For the short time that you all have been servicing our area, you have consistently not picked up trash in which I have PREPAID for! If I am to receive two pick ups a week, I’m not understanding why I’m only receiving one, if that. Coastal needs to reimburse me the money for not picking up my trash in which I have prepaid for! This is ridiculous, because I live less than 5 miles away from the Coastal plant on truck Route 50!
Republic never missed our trash. And since this forced change to coastal, my trash has been missed 2 times already out of 2 weeks. Completely unacceptable. Especially when it seems our neighbors trash has been picked up even though their tanks are overflowing but yet they didnt pick up ours. Absolutely ridiculous service being presented.
Off to a terrible start! Republic was certainly not behind when Coastal took over but yesterday didn't even show up! Republic used to call and showed up the next day! Nit Coastal if you don't call and request pick up you will wait until next week!? Didn't set my account up even though I called before Christmas and gave all our information. I will be attending future meetings with the Commissioners and any website available. Terrible Customer Service...WE DEFINITELY KNOW THE PICK UP DATES FOR OUR GARBAGE AND YARD WASTE YOUR COMPANY JUST HASN'T PICKED IT UP YET 2 WEEKS NOW. I PAID SOME ONE 20.00 TO TAKE IT AWAY FROM BLOCKING MY DRIVEWAY! DO YOUR JOBS! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RESPONSE.
Have seen a truck come down but once says mon and thurs pickup have had my can out there a week still full and neighbors had recycling about the same timeframe still waiti g on that thursday pickup, they spent plenty of time and money bullcrappinv and mailing notices but did not srt up a proper way of scheduling what they promised very unprofessional and ghat is that republic picked up most of ghe christmas trash as well so even that is a bad excuse for their iinability to take over another community.
First week that this new company has been picking up our waste they did not pick up our yard waste and I have 15 bundles outside my front yard waiting to be picked up and I will not wait until the following Wednesday!! Sad that the company made a bid on this waste pickup
This company is terrible and they don’t seem to care. I tried calling and was 1,404th in the line. The system said they would call back and they never did. My entire community has been missed for pickup again today. With this company, I’m not sure if it will ever be picked up. They did make sure they took my money last month though.
Got a notification THIS WEEK about needing to call to transition our service that said we needed to call hy dec 15 which was WEEKS ago!! Been trying for 2 days to register but the online platform does NOT work and the phone lines are swamped you sit on hold for HOURS before the call auto drops. Get your business together and fix this coastal!!!!!
We've been forced to switch our residential garbage service from Republic to Coastal by Jan 1, 2026 so we did... and we paid 20% more for this forced change by our county - and I paid in full 15 days in advance of the first service (Jan 2). Jan 2 comes around, my can is exactly where it is supposed to be (3 ft from the street with arrows pointing out) and they completely skip my pickup, leaving me with a full garbage can - WHY??? Is this the service I can now expect from my garbage pick up? Completely ignoring my can after I have paid in full and ahead of schedule???
Called said steel was paying .06 brought a 5000lb load and they only wanted to pay .05 which is $50 less than quoted because it was "heavy steel". Never seen someone deduct money for better loads. Lost me as a customer, first & last time for me.
They did not allow me to remove 2 screws from one piece of aluminum because they wanted to pay dirt price. The guy in the patio said their price and as he looked at the aluminum he saw 2 little screws in one sliding glass door track. He said he would have to pay dirt price because he would have to remove it, I said I could remove it, and he said it would be clean price. When I open my trailer after backing up and moved everything out I heard him talking to an old lady that worked in the yard saying to don't alow us to remove the screws. I got the impact driver to remove the lady said I could not do it in the yard. I said "and inside my trailer" she said "not on company grounds" trying to make me back down as I had put everything out so they could pay me the dirt price. I just put everything back together and walked away. They are shady. Avoid.
Employees are very helpful and courteous. I had a gentlemen help me today with a lot of extruded aluminum I brought in. Sorry I don’t know the name of the gentleman but he answered every question I had and was very helpful. If you know anything about scraping metal you will not have any problems at this yard.
There is NOTHING fair with this scrap yard, I brought a mobile home trailer for scrap and they told me I couldn't put it on the scale bc a tire wasn't on one of the rims. So they said they would give me $20 with NO paperwork. Like it was gonna help out or something. Last time I came which was like 3 years ago. They were giving 4 cents for steel and tried to give me 1 cent for dirty aluminum. This place is really a joke. I would recommend going somewhere else
3.75. Little to no instructions given to new visitors. Scale should have the weigh in process clearly posted in large print. The yard "foreman" seems a bit pushy and cavalier. The cashier area is small and can be difficult to park by if towing a trailer. With a little attention and some revised processes this location could be that much better.
