I have brought multiple vehicles here multiple times for various work (‘03 F250, 2013 Camry, and 2018 Sierra) and Jeff and the entire staff are always timely, fair, and honest. Dealing with them has always been a breeze and I will continue to use them for my auto needs! Great staff and company!

This is going to be a long one but if you take anything away from this review is to not come to this place, they are incompetent, don't uphold their end of a deal, and the manager Jeff, I hope to GOD you never have to talk to him because he is unbelievably rude and condescending especially if you are a woman.
My car initially went into went into this shop at the end of November 2024 when my transmission blew on the Florida-Georgia line. It took about a month for them to fix my transmission the first time, which is fine whatever, but I also paid over $4800 for the repair. While it was getting fixed I was TOLD I was getting a brand new transmission. I asked if I could get a used or junkyard transmission so it wouldn't cost as much but they said "no" because of they type of transmission I had I needed a new one. I paid the $4800 for the repair without seeing a detailed receipt, which is my fault. At the bottom of the receipt it says the facility can either do the warranty work, 12 months 12,000 miles, or "refund to you the entire charge for the warranted repairs."
Fast forward to September 5, 2025 my transmission blew again only 9 months later after they "fixed" my transmission. Since I live in Melbourne I had my car towed to a local shop to get diagnosed and they said that my transmission did infact blow again and it was definitely not a new transmission. Since I live so far away from Advanced Auto Care Center of Gainesville I had to wait a week to get affairs in order to tow my car all the way up there. My car has now been at Advanced Auto Care Center of Gainesville for 3 WHOLE MONTHS under warranty work.
During this time NEVER ONCE has the shop contacted me about updates on my car. I was calling them every 3 days for a while to get updates. I've stopped because I need everything documented now.
Something that Jeff LOVES to say that my car only came back to them with 989 miles left on the warranty, but it DOES NOT MATTER! It does not matter if my car went back to them 1 month 1 mile or 11 months 11,999 miles. IT DOES NOT MATTER. Jeff also pointed out that yes my transmission blew twice but he said it could most likely be electrical AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. So what I hear is that you can't/don't know how to do your job right the first time. He also loves to say "we are doing all this work NO CHARGE TO YOU". Well God I hope so It's warranty work. It's also the LEAST they can do.
I am a college student. I have had to walk home from school, almost 4 miles, in the Florida heat because I don't have a car. I have spent HUNDREDS on dollars Ubers to work, doctors appointments, school, etc. They refuse to accommodate me at all. I have given multiple solutions to this problem. For example, giving me a loaner car until my car is fixed, refunding me my money I initially paid ($4800), paying me my cars Kelly Blue Book value and giving them the title of my car, etc.
At this point they are holding my car hostage and the owner should be ashamed of himself for having a manger like Jeff and hiding while all this is going on and not talking to me.Dec 10, 2025 -
Great service! Chloe was super helpful getting me a same day appointment for an oil change and the service was great!

I had a great time getting help from Chloe and her manager when I called in this morning to get a muffle repair looked at! They were very calm, kind and careful with the help they I needed for my Corolla!

This business is a scam I went for a diagnostic and specifically asked the clerk will I have to pay for the diagnostic she replied no if you get the work done then they will just charge me for whatever I was getting done. The part cost $73 plus $224 for labor. They diagnosed and fixed this issue in an hour. I paid $150 for diagnosis labor then another $224 for replacement labor. Almost $400 for labor when my car was there an hour how is that not a scam. When I checked out it was $150 for diagnostic plus the work I got done and I asked she said she cannot remove the charge because it is included and then proceeded to insult me by saying she took $10 off. I paid an extra $150 because she lied. They had my car for 1 hour for the diagnostic and to get the repair and now im out almost $600 because of a lie. This place is unprofessional and dont honor their word

This shop is terrible, condescending, unprofessional, and makes up irrelevant problems to make up excuses to NOT get the job done. I do not recommend doing business here even in emergency situations!!! JEFF has an extreme unwaveringly way to switch the problem into an excuse and interrupts you while speaking He as a “manager” does not do his job.

Had a great experience at Advanced Auto Care Center. Jeff was friendly, transparent, and walked me through what was done now and what I can plan for later, with clear, reasonable pricing. The work was finished quickly and I left feeling confident about my car. I’ll definitely return for the rest of my maintenance. Strongly recommend!

Locally owned, down to earth, fair prices, trustworthy crew. I'm definitely satisfied with my experience here. And the guys were excited to see my '93 Honda, haha!

I asked the girl who answered how much a simple evap valve would be and she gave me a range of 200-2000!! It was diagnosed for free at o’reillys, but I’d have to pay an additional $50 for advanced to diagnose it again. It’s a $120 dollar job! Also, wanted $450 for a battery. They make it very difficult to work with them…very overpriced

Best customer service ever. Chloe was very professional and Dan was very thorough and patient with my lack of knowledge. Would definitely make a return visit for my next oil change. Thanks guys!!!

I recently visited this shop to have my car’s engine issue diagnosed, and I want to share a heads-up. They only told me about the $190 diagnostic fee at the very last minute, right before I left their place. This was after I’d already come in for my appointment, and I really wish they had mentioned it on the phone when I first scheduled.
In short, if you’re considering this shop, definitely ask about all fees up front because they didn’t disclose that diagnostic cost until the last second.Sep 03, 2025 -
Oh wait! I have to get something on the other side done by my personal mechanic so, the car pulls to the right instead of the left. I will have to pay again.
I took my vehicle to The Alignment Guy and had to LEAVE. Came here and got amazing, PROFESSIONAL service. I will remember this place and make sure to pass the word. Excellent family run service station.Aug 02, 2025 -
You did a system check with your computer or whatever to check the codes. You said you couldn’t help me and refered me to the dealership, GM. I went to them and took the notes from what you assessed was the issue. They said they don’t know why you said what you did about what the problem was. What they assessed was very different from what you suggested, because they actually looked at the truck and didn’t just connect up and assess code. You charged me over $200 to do a simple code check and send me on my way. I wasted $200 and will never come back to you again. I feel as though you cheated me.

This place is very thorough and helpful. They called and were very upfront about pricing without trying to oversell me. Dave was especially nice, helpful, and trustworthy. I love that they take appointments and are open Saturday. I had an early appointment and they were done with my car within 2 hours and the pricing was very reasonable. I will be coming here again if I have any more car troubles.

I’ve been using Advanced Auto Care for over three years now. And I have never been disappointed with the service that I received. They don’t try to oversell you. They’re very honest and that’s what I love about them! And anytime I’ve had an issue with my vehicle, I can bring it to them and they will take care of it as soon as they can sometimes in the same day because they know that I need to have my vehicle for my job. They are very personable and that’s another thing that I like because they have gotten to know me. I highly recommend them.

They pay $5 for five star reviews so I wouldn’t trust the rating. I set an appointment for 1PM . Came in at my set appointment time, got the feeling they were slammed (but figured that wouldn’t matter for me because I…set an appointment…. Even still, I asked how long the service would take and was told it would take 30-45 minutes. Went for a 50 minute lunch, came back at 1:50PM and my car hadn’t even been started. I understand things get busy, but not sure the point of setting appointments if your car isn’t started on within a 15 minute window of setting your appointment. After voicing my concern I asked so how long before I’m out the door “oh just 20-30 minutes”…but you just told me 30-45 minutes before I left AND at this point they still hadn’t even pulled my car around so how can you say it’ll just be another 20 minutes ???? The empty promises and lack of transparency is incredibly inconvenient for your customer. I had obligation to fulfill that I should’ve been able to make if my appointment time had even been remotely honored. Under 0 circumstances will I be back and I recommend finding a different mechanic.

WHAT WENT WRONG
This place is fine for anything easy and quick like an oil change. BUT if anything goes wrong and you go back to try to get it resolved they look at you like you're the most annoying thing there and proceed try to brush off or diminish your concerns. I dont think Im alone when I say that's a big problem when geting a car repaired is hecka expensive. If you keep insisting to have your concerns adressed expect to be told "you can't prove anything". If you ask to see video of them work on you car or even show you your car being pulled in or out of the garage bays, rodents ate the camera wires earlier this year; they haven't been fixed. All of the cameras are no longer functional in the working bays except the back bay which unfortunately is not where your car was parked. So there is no footage of any of the repair work. Ok. I was yelled at by Jeff the manager for asking to at least see when my car was pulled in and put of the bay from the footage from the security cameras outside. I never did see the footage (although Jeff said he would pull it for me, grumbling the entire time about how much work it would be to go back 24hrs) which is a problem when they charge labor by the hour right? There is zero proof anything took as long as they claim. He told told me I'm too demanding and to call the police.
WHY I WAS THERE
I went in to get a leak fixed. The fluid leaking was coming from beneath the engine bay, tinted pink and oily. They told me it was the coolant pump and that I needed new back brakes. I've been here multiple times before with 3 different cars over 4+ years and NEVER had any issue, so I took their word for it and agreed immediately to the fixes although I did have reservations about the diagnosis. The concerns I returned to the shop for? 1. Fluid was still dripping from the same area as the original concern 2. Non-stop, horrible, something is definitely getting damaged type screeching and grinding from the back wheels when going less than 40 mph or braking 3. Part of the plastic engine cover was missing over the area which would have had to have been exposed for the repair process.
I went back expecting it to be an easy and stright forward fix: forgot to put the part back, something just needs and bit of adjustment, etc., but was belittled, yelled at, and dissmissed out of hand. I wasn't looking for a refund or a fight. In the end, they: 1. Did not find any leakage; possible explanations put forward it was build up in the frame left over or did you have the ac running when you picked it up? 2. Took the back left wheel off and banged the back plate straight which fix the noise. How it got so bent out of shape is a question I did not ask in favor of just getting out of there. 3. Offered to buy a new engine cover peice after being unable to find it in the garage or "prove it" one way or another that it was there when the car was dropped off or as they claim it was never there to begin with.
How much did this cost? $1568.47. Until this went down I was fine with that because i felt comfortable with their work ethic and quality. Now? You make your own choice. I'm going today to get it looked at again somewhere else and telling everyone the Advanced Auto Care Center on 13th St Gainesville has been coasting on their previous stellar reputation and have let things critically go downhill.
Update: Hi Jeff. Im sorry i came off not very nice to you. The reason i kept asking to see the footage was an attempt to feel reassured that it was as you said. I did not yell, swear or become hostile. I felt unheard and ignored, so became persistent. If you had test drove the car after the repair the grinding of the backplate would have been obvious. I left as you said because I had work to do and staying any longer wouldn't have been productive for either of us. You had already made your stance on showing me any video very clear, you did not want to at all This was a customer completely losing faith in your buisness.Nov 23, 2024 -
Zero Stars. Total disappointment. 2017 Maxima timing chain job was completed using parts from Auto Zone. That chain broke and my engine failed. Advanced Auto Care refused to take on the job and warranty the work. Two months later of my dead car sitting in the shop was repaired. At least I thought. I had it checked out at Nissan the next day and man….. my vacuum hoses were not reconnected. The coil packs were not all plugged back in. My intake manifold was broken and had three different screws in it. My complete engine slash guard was missing. My bumper was literally zip tied on. My headlight was broken and there were things under the hood just loose and flapping around. I drove on the interstate the same day I received it and the steering wheel was of alignment badly and my front bumper came off. That was why I went to Nissan. Did this shop have a problem with me. Did this shop have technicians that should be held responsible or was management not understanding the depth of the repair and didn’t manage it well? I’m not sure but currently I don’t have a car and Advanced Auto Care is 100% responsible.
8/27- Advanced Auto Care suggested I return for the alignment completion that wasn’t fulfilled initially. Advanced Auto Care Center replaced the engine in my 2017 Nissan Maxima and suddenly my transmission isn’t functioning. There is loud grinding and thuds coming from either front wheel
sides of my car. When I accelerate it has a hard delay and a hard catch and jerk before the car moves. This has never been an issue and still, Advanced Auto Care Center was the only shop to EVER do repairs on my vehicle since I purchased it in 2016. I had to demand paperwork from the repairs supposedly made to my vehicle and I was told to give them to the end user of day. I clearly see that the entire process was never recorded and had to be made up for me to have. Red flag!!
I have an engine with 65000 miles on it (supposedly) and smoke coming from my tailpipe constantly. I was reserved from stating that I had been cheated by this shop. I don’t see it any other way. Please be careful and know your stuff before considering any major repairs at Advanced Auto Care Center.Aug 27, 2024 -
Stopped at Advanced Auto Care Center without an appointment to get an oil change and tire rotation. I was able to be seen quickly and my car is satisfied with its care.

I recently had an outstanding experience at Advanced Auto Car Center in Gainesville, FL, and felt compelled to share. A special shout-out to Heather and Rick for their exceptional customer service. They not only took excellent care of me but also went above and beyond to troubleshoot a challenging situation. Despite the rental company’s reluctance to find a swift and effective solution for a problem that I haven’t created—the coolant was extremely low most likely due to lack of maintenance, Heather and Rick stepped in, ensuring I didn’t miss my important appointments. Their dedication to problem-solving and customer care truly sets them apart. I highly recommend Advanced Auto Car Center to anyone in need of reliable and empathetic service.

This place has a nice appointment system, provides the exact quote with a reasonable price, and nice waiting room. We changed the oil, oil filter, and wiper along with the rotating tires. It takes about an hour.

Went for an oil change and of course ot wasn't just an oil change. Apparently, the oil pan was cracked and needed to be replaced. So they told me it was bot possible to make the oil change.
So once the part arrived a couple of days later they changed it and were able to make the oil change.
Today I am at a new mechanic, several months later to do my oil change and surprise surprise! Advance Auto Care did a terrible job at changing the oil pan! They used the wrong materials and it was leaking oil from several places. They charged me $800 for the part and labor.
There was little oil left in the car because of their mistake and poor service.
Needless to say, I will never go to this place and neither should you.
Update: they did not install the oil pan gasket!!!!!Nov 06, 2023 -
This shop will absolutely take advantage of you if they can. They charged me an insane amount for labor, and did not do the job. My car still had trouble starting only a day after leaving here because they did not replace the corroded parts. Terrible service, dishonest pricing, incompetent staff. They even misspelled my name on the invoice.
I really didn't want to have to write this review as I've had my oil changed here for years, but my last visit was insulting. They charged me $140 for an hour and half of work testing a battery and replacing it along with the terminal connectors. I guarantee this work did not take them an hour and a half.
Any mechanic can test a battery in 5 minutes (any auto parts store does it for free). Any mechanic can replace a battery and its connectors in 15 minutes. An honest mechanic would look at a 7 year old battery with corrosion and forego the battery test altogether instead of charging $40 and telling me they couldn't even get a reading. Instead, they chose to pretend this took them over an hour and charge me, a customer for years, and then not do the job correctly.
Not only did they not replace the clearly corroded parts (picture included), they also did not bother to do the idle relearn after replacing the battery. This process requires turning the car keys three times in the ignition, and then letting the car run parked for 10 minutes. I cannot overstate how incompetent their service was to not even do this. My car nearly stalled on the drive out of the shop because of this, and I ended up doing it on my own a block away from the shop. In the end, I replaced the cables myself in front of an auto parts store for $20 and half an hour of time. I have only ever done oil changes, so the fact that their mechanics can't do this in under an hour means they are unqualified to be working on anyone's vehicle.
I severely regret ever doing business with this shop. Their service is downright dangerous, fraudulent, and the people (especially Jeff the owner) are to be avoided at all costs.
Jeff reached out to me after I initially retracted my review feigning wanting to make things right, but this was also dishonest. It has been an entire month since he reached out and has not responded. My review is now reposted and will not be taken down. This shop has lost the business of at least four of my friends, and likely much more because of this incredibly poor experience.
EDIT: Jeff replied here saying I never contacted him. I tried posting my call logs and text messages, but that gets the review removed by Google. Just beware that he usually says upset customers either didn’t contact him, don’t exist in his records, or are mistaking his shop for another mechanic with the name Advanced in it.Jul 28, 2023 -
Was referred by CarMax to Advance Auto Repair. Roberta at the front desk is so helpful and knowledgeable. Dave and Jeff are just awesome.
I'll take my truck back there anytime!Mar 16, 2023 -
This place is awesome! I finally found another permanent mechanic. My old one retired on meI was looking online for a place with good/honest reviews. I ran across this business and it seemed legit. I called Jeffrey and literally got an immediate appointment (and I didn’t even know what the issue was either). He could have lied like a lot of other mechanics do but he is an honest man and told me I didn’t need anything. I am choosing to get some things done that are going to need to be done soon now just because of how good he was to me. He also has a customer for life now. I’m a single female and often get taken advantage of in certain situations. I don’t even like bringing that to the forefront but it’s true, so the feeling of fairness/security going here to get work done on my car means a lot to me. While I was in there he helped one man that came in and asked him to put his tag on his car for him. Then a man that had a question about a tire that was in his trunk after he had already told him he didn’t have that tire in stock to replace for him (immediately like customer needed) unfortunately. He still went out to try to assist him while it he was busy. Then a woman came in saying her oil was a little over the linePoor man is slammed from open to close with all types of thingsThank you! You’re awesome and may God bless you and your family for being honorable
