Took my car to Ahrends on the recommendation of a specialist that services a different brand. Ahrends was communicative, thorough and honest. They seem very busy, likely because they are very good, and their shop is out of the way, but definitely worth the drive. Great experience!
I inherited a beloved 1986 Nissan 300ZX from my dad. I cannot express how wonderful these folks are. Their kindness and dedication to my treasured auto was only surpassed by their expertise. I am so grateful.
I ended up finding Ahrens because another shop in town referred me to them. They said it was between Ahrens and another local shop that they would recommend, and I can’t tell you how thankful I am that other shop that I called first didn’t answer.
Troy and Wendy at Ahrens went above and beyond while my vehicle was in their shop, making sure that I was kept in the loop during the diagnostic portion of the repair so that there were no surprises. (Despite what some other reviews might say, they were very upfront about their pricing for diagnostic fees). They had my vehicle back to me in no time and it is running smoother than ever.
10/10 service, professionalism, and workmanship. I would recommend Ahrens to anyone that asks and will definitely be taking my vehicle back for any future repairs that are needed. Thanks again for such a smooth experience!
My Infiniti threw a tricky fault code that could have meant a dozen different things. The selling dealer tried fixing it but was clueless on the real issue, but Joey at this shop pinpointed the exact cause—an overstretched timing chain. It's a massive job, not all shops will take it on! He mapped out the repair in plain English and stayed available for every question along the way.
Wendy matched Joeiy’s technical skill with endless patience and a genuinely friendly approach, even while wrangling my hard-to-deal-with warranty company so I didn’t have to.
After the timing-chain job was finished (car ran perfectly!), a separate issue cropped up when a bad battery left me stranded at home. Wendy and Joeiy didn’t hesitate—they arranged a tow for me, got the battery replaced, and had me back on the road that same day.
From laser-accurate diagnosis to hassle-free warranty handling and rescue-level customer care, their service was flawless. You can tell where experience matters. Highly recommended!
I would not recommend Ahren's-- especially to university students-- based off of my experience with their team and their extreme upcharging of parts. Their pricing is not honest at all.
I took my car in with serpentine belt issues. For my make and model, this part generally costs $30-$50. Ahren's priced this part at $80. Their diagnostic examine also found belt tensioner issues. For the serpentine and belt tensioner replacement combined, they quoted me $512 of repairs. This is extremely high and gives me the inclination that this is another mechanic in town that is trying to take advantage of college students who are not as informed on car repairs.
I do not think the presented quote is fair by any means so thanked them and let them know I would not be having service done their. I was presented with an $85 fee for a half-hour diagnostic look. This fee was not disclosed beforehand at all, was not mentioned verbally, and I did not sign anything agreeing to this fee.
Take your car elsewhere. I took my vehicle here just out of convenience of location, but have previously had much better service at the Firestone off of Archer and with Billy's Auto Repair & Towing.
UPDATE: I went in to pick up my car and wish I could leave a negative review. If you take your car here and leave without even having any work done, you will be charged an $85 minimum. I asked why I wasn't informed of this in anyway (no signatures, no verbal inform) beforehand and the woman working the front desk had the owner come out.
He raised his voice and started asking why I hadn't taken my car to Billy's or somewhere else. In his rant he referenced other reviews that I have left on Gainesville for miscellaneous places which was unsettling. He lied and said he listened to my phone conversation, saying that I was informed of all fees beforehand-- I certainly was not and he wouldn't play the recording. I have lived in Gainesville for many years and can say assuredly that this is one of the shadier places in town. They use deceptive business practices and their prices are anything but honest.
I just moved here from another state, they helped me to take off my old license plate for free. Owner/manager is a very nice guy! I will definitely come here for future car repairing if needed!
Friendly, speedy service that goes above and beyond. Many mechanics around Gainesville refuses to work on rusty cars, but this shop fixed my car and gave alternative cheap fixes to keep me on the road. I greatly appreciate the mechanic for replacing my rear brake pads free of charge while fixing a loose bearing that I had no idea needed to be fixed asap. They're attention to detail is amazing, especially taking the time to reset my car's clock for me :) I highly recommend this honest shop~
I have been taking my cars to ahrens for years and have had nothing but excellent service. Joey is a truthful, top notch mechanic. He has done everything from simple maintenance work to complete engine replacements for me with no issues. I highly recommend Ahrens Auto.
Fixed what others couldn't. I brought my car to these guys after another shop messed up my repair and made my car worse! Joey and Stan fixed it properly. This was not a small repair either! They had to replace my entire engine head (that's the upper part with the cam shafts and valves) due to the previous shop's mistake. They were honest and up front about everything and did the work in a timely manner, once the parts arrived ;-). Any time I am in Gainesville and need auto repair services, Ahren's will be my first call. (Yes, my name is similar but no relation or affiliation with the shop). These guys were awesome, can't say enough good things. Highly recommend!!!
Recently my brother dropped his '96 Nissan truck off here for some extensive work and the staff/Stan were extremely helpful and very efficient . They were very honest and upfront about the amount of work that would need to be done and that had been done a few years ago by the Nissan dealership (apparently pretty shoddy). Ahrens staff worked very hard to keep the cost down and even with that I feel that the finally total cost was very reasonable. His truck runs like a top and purrs like a kitten now.

Amazing mechanics and trustworthy. I can’t say enough good things about them. Joey and crew are great and price things fairly from what I can tell compared to others. The big thing to me is trust and I know I can trust them and they won’t tell me I need unnecessary repairs. They’ve been clear communicating what might eventually need to be replaced in the future. Highly recommend them. Everything they’ve ever fixed has functioned great. They’ve worked on my Toyota Tundra with 260,000 miles and it runs great.
Great customer service and honest people. They even told me NOT to replace parts I thought I needed, but didn't actually. Only fixed what I needed/asked for and nothing extra, aside from running a diagnosis and noting suggestions for other preventative care. Very reasonably priced, would come again.
I've been taking my car to Ahrens Auto for several years now, and I've always been impressed with their level of service. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy, and they always take the time to explain the work that needs to be done in a way that I can understand.
Stan, the service manager, is particularly impressive. He has a wealth of technical expertise, and he's always willing to go the extra mile.
In addition to the great service, Ahrens Auto is also very quick and efficient. They always return my car on time, and they never try to sell me unnecessary services. Prices are also fair and reasonable.
Overall, I can't recommend Ahrens Auto highly enough. They're the best auto shop I've found, and I know I can always count on them to take care of me.
Probably a strange thing to say about a mechanic, but I always have a great experience here. They are friendly, honest, and their prices are fair. I live in the NW side of town, and drive downtown just to have them work on my cars.
Had my engine replaced. Very friendly to communicate with and reasonable price.Took a while to work on it because it seems they are busy but I wasn't in a super hurry and I realize it is a big job.. They did a great job in the end. I like how thorough they are when they work on things. I have had no issues with it since.
I've used Ahrens a handful on my oldie Buick. They've always had fair prices and only tell me what I truly need (which is a blessing considering many shops tell you small things to get more money out of you) to keep my old boy running. They're great on time and communications regarding repairs or concerns. It's also conveniently located next to a bus stop so getting home while they work on my car is easy peasie. Will 100% recommend this location for car repairs.

I live about 30 miles away, I called around 10 am and spoke to Joey and told him I wanted to drop the vehicle off the same day and that I would like to drop it off so we could leave it inside of his business as it would be subject to tampering over the weekend. He told me he would be there until 5:30 PM and I told him I was coming. I got there early at 4:40 PM only to find the business completely closed and locked up. I left him a message on his voicemail asking him to call me back on Monday to somehow explain the situation that I drove 70 miles round-trip for nothing. He never even called me back. Poor customer service and it’s going to be a long time before I go back there.
Had my Altima taken there for ignition issues, and also for throwing all sorts of codes. They could've piled on extra repairs, but as others have said...they didn't. They just fixed what was wrong at a reasonable price in a timely matter.
I tend to do a lot of my own repairs because it's so hard to find a shop you can trust to do good work at a fair price..I trust Ahrens now. They've gained a loyal customer.
Great shop! Joey took care of my front end vibration on my tundra and fixed some bent sway bar end links. Joey is very knowledgeable and found the right parts same day.

My check engine was on and I needed my car fixed ASAP. I dropped my car off in the morning and got it mid afternoon same day. They were professional and kept me up to date on the progress of my car. The cost was fair and I will definitely go back to them for future repairs
Just look at all of their excellent reviews. Dan kept in touch with me as they worked through a serious safety issue with my old Toyota. Always super pleasant to deal with and got me back on the road for a fraction of what a dealer would have cost. HIGHLY recommend.

I had original went to Tire Plus on 43rd for a oil change. Tire plus informed me that I had a bad oil leak and it would take 14 hours to fix in addition it would cost $1,800. They told me they had to drop my transmission to fix the leak. I was very grateful they told me about the leak and that it needed to be fixed urgently. $1,800 is a lot of money and i needed my car desperately to go to work.
We wanted to double check elsewhere for better pricing before we put down that much.My husband checked on Gainesville reddit and it recommend Ahrens. I call and told Ahrens Auto about the terrible leak I had. He got me right in. I showed him the receipt from Tire Plus about where the leak was.
Ahren's Auto did their own diagnostics. The leak was NOT where Tire Plus had said it was ,it was NOT a 14 hour job and most importantly it was NOT $1800 Job!!!
Ahrens Auto got my leak fixed under 2-3 hours and found were my leak actually was. I only paid about $300. We are so relieved and glad we double check and went to Ahrens Auto. we will be returning to them if we need any vehicle work.

It is wonderful to have a place to take your car that you trust will be honest and do exceptional work. These guys care about their customers. I was very impressed by all the "Stay safe" procedures they had in place from wiping down all car seats, steering wheel and dash to the touchless key exchange. You felt very secure in their efforts to keep you safe.
I’ve been taking my car to Ahren’s for years and they have been great. Prices are fair and they fix the problems the first time. They also are on point when they tell me when my car will be ready, unlike a lot of other mechanics I’ve been to. I also appreciated how the last time I brought my car in, they were honest with me about what I needed to fix to get my car road worthy and what I could put off or not even worry about. Since I know nothing about cars, the trust with a mechanic is of course very important.
Close your eyes and try to imagine the absolute worst possible car mechanic nightmare experience you can dream up. Then picture the complete opposite of that. Yes, Ahrens is that good.
I recently bought a 2004 Toyota Corolla, and within minutes of purchasing it, the check engine light came on and the car began to idle really high. It was the weekend, so all I could do was wait and try researching the problem in the meantime.
My brother is a very talented mechanic, so I've always been pretty spoiled. If I ever had a problem, I just brought my car to him and he'd take care of it. However, my brother now lives halfway across the country, so I had to find a new shop. A quick Google search led me to Ahrens, and after reading through a dozen 5-star reviews, I didn't feel I had to look any further.
I called Ahrens first thing Monday morning and spoke with David. He told me to bring the car in and they'd have a diagnosis by the afternoon. So I did.
Not only did David call back with the diagnosis, but they were able to get the part and replace it all within 6 hours of my call! And I didn't even have an appointment!
Let's face it - nobody likes to go to the mechanic. It's inconvenient and costly and there's always that concern of being ripped off or mislead. I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be that way.
I can't imagine bringing my car anywhere else. Ahrens is hands down the best service experience I've ever had. They'd probably even compete with my brother if he were still around ;)

Ahrens auto has wonderful customer service and does great work for a reasonable price. Dave set up my appointment and had my car in and out in a timely manner. They were even willing to work with me regarding the payment. It's always scary taking your car to some unknown mechanic but these guys were truly professional and took care of the honey do list for my car. They even recommended someone to fix the issue they couldn't (Nissan key replacement). 10/10 Would recommend and would come here again.
