My gutter contractor told me to go to Nichols, as that is where he goes to sell The used copper gutters that he salvages from the jobs he does. He told me they pay $3.40/lbs dirty copper gutters and $3.65 for cleaned and shiny copper gutters. I called Nichols to confirm this price which they did. I drove out from New Haven to Clinton and when I got there, they were going to give me $1.60 per pound. They are a bait and switch operation. Stay away from this place. I called several other places after this and sold my copper gutters for $3.45/lb.
I live in Clinton,CT. I went to Nichols with 232 pounds of unstripped # 10-12 THHN wire. They offered me .60 a pound. I called Alderman Dow they offered me 1.60 a pound. Well worth the ride to New Haven for an extra 232 dollars. What a rip off Nichols is. Obviously don't know what they're doing. I for one won't go back there again.
TERRIBLE! Called three times, maybe four, to have them pick up a car to be scraped. First they said they couldn't take an out-of-country car, so I called the DMV for them and explained that YES they can! Title of a vehicle in Connecticut is the same as Proof of Ownership/Registration in Canada. They strung me along, call after call. Finally the fellow said the boss said they wouldn't take it, and no he couldn't give me the bosses name or put me through to him. Very unprofessional. They either don't know how it works in Connecticut or can't be bothered doing the work. Who knows? Certainly don't recommend.
First time to Nichols, one of the best scrap metal yards in CT. Wasn't sure what I had, some copper pipes and the guy was really helpful. I would go again
