What clients say about Cooper Capital Spec Salvage in Old Saybrook Township (CT)

We highly recommend Cooper Capital, So Cal Metal, and Evan Krisher, whose professionalism, integrity, and dedication set the highest standard in this industry. Our nephew purchased a 40-foot GreenLine through Cooper Capital, and we assisted him with the inspection and transportation process to Florida. Throughout it all, Evan at So Cal Metal provided outstanding support, clear communication, and exceptional attention to detail. He even let us use his dinghy to explore Newport Harbor — truly above and beyond!

I have purchased from Cooper Capital . Serval times over the last 10 years. They always provide clean title work. Best way to buy a boat by far.

Excellent people to work with. We have purchased several boats from Cooper and have been very pleased. On top of purchasing boats from Cooper we are also a boatyard that handles their boats. I would recommend them to anyone who is interested in purchasing a salvage boat.

Great experience on the boat I won. Really a straight forward deal. Looked at the boat pre bid, got my estimates for repair together, bid, won, then picked it up a few days later.

In 2019, I purchased a 56 ocean yachts from Cooper. Not only did I have it remove from place it was being stored when I won it. Guess there was alot of bad blood between Cooper and the owner as he thought Cooper was going to give him the boat. Beside spending alot for the purchase, I was in the middle of between both parties. Not only was I getting raped on storage 3k every 30 days, while trying to have it repaired. I ended up having moved to Wilmington marine. 8k later by sea tow. Then everytime I turned around when I got behide on storage while they were also working on it. And everything was 10k. It didn't matter what it was. Cooper was always the first to send me emails and this was a year later. It all finally came to ahead as I had to pick, letting the boat go or losing my house. So I picked the house. So over a year after I purchased the boat and lost over 200k. Cooper sends me an email stating I can purchase ever again due to losing the boat. So if you purchase from them, I would suggest what I went through. That you check on having moved during the 1 or 2 week period while your not being charged. And if it is a safe harbor Phoenix that you ever deal with. They are not helpful at all. They can not remove tops, basically can not do anything. Will not let you move touch or work on there yard. There thing is you have to have insurance before it can be removed from yard. Good luck with insurance on damaged boats. Most will tell you THEY HAVE TO BE SEA WORTHY. before you can even get insurance. And the lady's at Cooper are nice and try to help but the guy's are pricks if you need help. Hopefully you never have to go through what I did, but just be prepared.

After reading reviews and not exactly know what you are getting into, I decide to stay away... It is VERY EASY for them to provide more information but seems like they do not care much....We as customers do not collect money from trees. I called them but no info, referred me to the boat yard and they do not help either, sounds like everybody is in bad mood, I do not feel comfortable bidding on anything.

I recently purchased a boat through Cooper Capital. They seem to have lower fees than Iaai or Copart but that's a facade. The lots that hold the boats charge a $250 fee for loading, even if it's not needed. After purchase Cooper refuse to complete the paperwork necessary for titling. I needed a document notarized and although they have a notary the said they wouldn't notarize the document on how much I paid for the boat. Do yourself a favor and pick a different auction. Sealed bid is a terrible format anyway.

I've bid on a ton of boats over the past year. I noticed sometimes the boats just go MIA from the site with no notifications. The sealed bid system sucks but I get it. Not listing a sold for price or anything makes me wonder how many back door deals could be happening. I don't trust this site, at least places like Copart you know where the bids ended at and gives you the opportunity to bid and know if you are bidding competitive. Sites like Certified Sales are very happy to help you though the bid process. This site is just terrible.

Purchased 3 boats but bid on 20 within 1 year....never had isues....CC is not the seller. Bids gets represented to the owner/insurance co... They have to like your bid, not CC... And if your not on top, better luck next time or go somewhere else...Not in cc's hands.. Stop crying over low-ball bid you made, you couldn't the make the purchase.. Beef it up... Show em how much you want it...

Unresponsive to emails so Call. Follow-up to get paperwork. Inspect the boat & take pictures as items may walk before vessel pick-up (some engine sensors in my case). Don't expect insurance company to accurately describe what happened nor condition of boat. In my case, the bid write-up claimed "Boat partially sank at mooring" when in reality it fully sank underway & washed ashore turned turtle. Don't expect any maintenance / care to be done by anyone (even the fridge drawers were full of salt water besides the boat having substantial sand in it). The listed Reserve is not accurate (or adhere to) as I bid more than the listed amount on three boats and they were all still re-listed (maybe my bid tied with someone else?). Sealed bid process appears to result in a lot of "winner's curse" where some folks' surveys appear to have missed major things amok & over-paid in my opinion.

This place is as misleading as a company could be. Bid on a boat but wanted more info, they sent me to the boat owner. Turns out the reserve was 20k higher than what was listed. Called the company and they wouldn’t own up to it. Further there bid process is blind, how can you know where you’re at if you don’t know what the other guy bid? Lastly, their fee structure is insane for a company that simply runs a website and nothing more. I will never attempt to do business with these people again and I’ll encourage everyone I know in the business to avoid this company as well.

In over ten years of buying boats though this company (14 in 2023) I'd love to give them 5 stars as at one time they were, sadly in the last 4-5 years their descriptions and photos are not accurate as to damage, and boat info is often incorrect, missing items from the boat when picked up from storage, add to that several title mistakes in recent years and I'm now looking for other outlets, for my business to function well CC needs to function well too, and that has seemed to have gone by the wayside for whatever reason

We have bought Several boats from cooper capital. They have always been good to deal with. I like how this auction broker isn’t as inflated as Copart or some of the others. This is a salvage site and if you know the value of what you are bidding on and have a clue what it’s worth you’ll have a good chance of success.

Zero stars as they refuse to help. I provided everything they asked for and they still did not help they lie. They need workshops in customer service as they lack people skills. I can not believe a company would do this. Do not lose paperwork as they will say they have it but won't give it to you. I wonder why when we live in a technological age where everything is a few clicks away. I wonder what really goes on over there.

Beware of parts missing. Transaction was however the persons in possession of the vessel stripped many parts before I took possession of vessel. Cooper says vessel stalled and hit jetty. Carburetor, exhaust manifolds, alternator, All electronics and micolanious items missing. Make sure to inspect and take pics before bidding.

This guys extended an auction time on us because they didn’t get the bids they wanted. Super unethical company practices.

This place honestly lists boats, always accurate. Best place to deal with form a wholesale! They take care of their storage yards, pay on time, always on top of things.

Most boats are never sold already bid on a couple and they get reposted. Who knows if its legit or not would be worried about sending money!!
