Yesterday I happen to get another Moran Tug waiting for a large ship heading towards Blount Island I believe. I took this photo with a long lens, 01/10/2024. The Tug Salad is to die for. I’ve been to Moran’s only a few times but I always feel like a guest of honor. The Executive Chef often comes out to give out samples of creations he’s working on for future nights. The wait staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and not overbearing. Edgar especially knows a great wine pairing for each dish. Highly recommended to anyone in New Canaan.
Great food! Peter K is the executive master chef and runs a seriously tight ship at this elegant eatery. PK can do things with a rack of lamb that will leave you breathless. He commands a militaristic operation that keeps his entire staff on edge, but they all know and trust that he will steer this trattoria into domination and greatness. He has surrounded himself with a top notch all star team of sous chefs including Chris, Bobby and Joe who do all the prep work to keep the operation impeccable on a 24/7/365 basis. Not to be overlooked is the front line floor team of servers; Niel, Bill, Gene, Edgar, and Sean promptly serving up orders hot off the firing line, never missing a beat..... Fresh ground pepper? You got it...
All in all this is my favorite restaurant, you can try one of the guys down the street, but you simply will not get service like you will from Moran.
