American Iron will take your metal and mix it in with theirs before telling you the ID on file is expired. Then they hold your money hostage until you renew ID. You can't go somewhere else or leave with your property because they already mixed in your metal, but won't pay you! If you can't accept an ID then you shouldn't take anyone's property until the transaction is complete. They took my property and tried not paying me for it and unwilling to give it back. I recommend taking business up the street where they pay better, better customers service, and you don't feel like your bothering the ladies up front playing on their phone!
I went to American Iron the other day, my first time there. The guy at the scale was beyond helpful and friendly. He answered all my questions and informed me on exactly what to do which made it very easy for me. The guys out in the dump area were very helpful to unload. The lady in the office paid more attention to her phone than helping me though sadly enough.
Great prices on aluminum and copper. I saw a lot of brass and scrap so it's safe to say they take almost anything you can recycle. Refrigerators and freezers need to have the freon removed first. Cash on the spot.
Was scammed by the guys doing the weigh in. Had 26 lbs of bare bright copper wire and was given #1 prices. And to top it off they subtracted 6 lbs for the containers, we brought it in with thick grocery bags. Maybe 1 lb at most..
The ladies up front were very nice and even gave me a gift card for Xmas.

I understand that it can be difficult dealing with people on a daily basis but the lady up front in the office seems to just hate everything and it shows with her customer service, and I am pretty sure but not positive that it is the same lady that answers the phone because she is just as rash and bad with customers. Other than that it is usually a very pleasant experience and all the workers in the yard are generally friendly and very helpful.
They close up way sooner then they claim. Even when you call they will tell you 4:15 the gates close but if you show between 4:00 and 4:15 just expect the gates to already be closed.
Ripping off the public, they pay pennies on the dollar, then sell it to Evraz, for 700$ a ton, let's force them out of business,

I pulled in on Monday at 4:06pm to an employee closing the gate and telling me there closed. All my gas wasted as I rushed 30 miles to get there. Thanks American! You lost a long time customer! Terrible job!!!!
First review was an accident customer service here is always friendly n compared to the competition there is none .Will remain loyal to this company always

They are not fair with their metal price's. The worker outside was very rude and sarcastic. He talked to me like I knew nothing about metals when I have a degree in welding.
Have some old metal taking up space? An old car, stove or other scrap? Could be worth your time to turn junk into cash. Clean separate metals worth more. Prices vary with the metals worth.
Serious lack of communication and unwillingness to do what’s needed to correct their mistakes. Luckily I was able to find another company within 30 minutes of getting off the phone with AIM. (J&L Auto. I’m getting MORE money for my car and they don’t stop taking cars at 4:15.)
If you can go to C Springs or Denver much better pay. The one thing I don't like is when you take copper, brass or anything of value the guy putting the stuff on the scale will dictate what the item is or what they classified it for low payout #1 copper to them is #2 copper or clean brass is classified as dirty brass so on. I have take the exact same items into several different places and it is amazing the payout differance. Remember these places are convenient but like any business they are there to make the most money they can by shorting the customer.
Ripped off by another company brought in 4 catalytic converters they say market down on them it's not should have been 160$ but I got 50 total dam Jim you need to rip off people to make a $ these days? Not cool
DO NOT SELL HERE.....they will take every dollar they can out of what they are due to pay you... THE PRICE THEY SAY IS JUST TO GET YOU THROUGH THE DOOR THEN THEY CHANGE IT.... LITTERALLY GO ANYWHERE ELSE.... they don't care as long as they get to pull one over on you

Called and sent emails several times. Got little to no info on scrapping a car. They gave me diffrent prices for my car when i called back to set up a time(lower).
Told me they would call me when they when on the way. Never called never showed.
I didnt like the lady in the white lil house by the scale ..she mad my workers stand in the cold and then said they couldn't go with me ....on the second trip she seemed to be a ok person ...
Apparently their shopping cart containers weigh 54 lbs and flat cart weighs 139 lbs. BS. You have to walk over to another building before they show you the receipt. By then, they've pushed your scrap wire off somewhere. Also, know your wire bc they'll try to grade it a little lower if you're not careful. The first red flag was not being able to see the scale read out. I should've walked away then.
