Reason for this post is I recently had the pleasure of bringing some scrap metal to atlas recycling -
Now I have been in construction trades for 28 out of my 43 years in this world in multiple states - including CT Mass RI and New York
As well as currently Denver and Colorado in general -
Atlas is awesome and exceptional - the recycling or “scarp “ metal industry at least in the past gets a bad wrap as far as I’m concerned - in an industry that has a negative narrative Atlas is going the most to change the game - they are the change that I want to see in the world

Dismal Experience: 1) They need signs directing customers to the different types of recycling. 2) They need signs directing customers to the cashiers. 3) They especially need a sign directing you to the left side of their large gate, as you enter their facility, (This is not England; we drive on the right side of the road here in Denver.). 4) Gate attendant was very gruff. 5) Gate attendant and cashier on their phones.
Came here to get some lime scooters that were on there property ya they are not helpful what so ever but definitely lock it in there property and won't let us retrieve property they shouldn't have locked on there property
Pretty efficient. Drove up to the gate and told them what we had to recycle. They directed us in and we were out in just a few minutes. Friendly staff is well.
The last three times I've went there they completely ripped me off they mark the wrong type of metal on the slip and the damn scale is definitely off as well place is the worst I swear
Walked in to use a recycling facility for the first time, so obviously I needed help and directions on how to do things. I TRIED to ask someone but they couldn't tell me because they only spoke Spanish! When I finally found someone without a language barrier, it seemed that everyone just expected me to know how it worked and didn't want to slow down to explain it to me. Very unprofessional and unhelpful.
in order to receive your voucher, you need an ID obviously I carry my ID on my phone directly from the DMV. It is not my fault that you do not count with the reader the same reader where you pay with your cash app Apple Pay the same reader that a police officer scan your DMV ID or drivers license on the roads I asked several questions in regards to that. She was very rude. Anything I would ask she would reply with sarcastic and terrible face remarks. .It is very sad to see such a Beautiful young lady at the window with horrible or no customer service skills. She was rude obnoxious, and the truth of the manner is getting in life for everything at a job whatever kind of job you have you need to be courteous you need to be polite because or else you’re not headed anywhere in line and if you cannot be polite behind a window to your customers where are you gonna be polite in a second I thought about 34 different ways. This young gal could have managed the situation so sad..
I have taken a few copper scraps here before, and today I turned in bunch of bare copper and #1. They only counted the bare for 18 pounds which i guarantee you was at least 50. They dumped it out before I can even take it back, and counted the rest as #1. I am going to report them for this. They scam people.
Do not do business here.One load i took they bent my fenders unloading it and they said it was just too bad .Then another load they wouldn't take it because the old truck frame had tires on it so I paid someone to come take the tires off of it then went back thru and after I crossed the scale another guy on a golf cart came n told me they wouldn't take it because I didn't have a title and it was just a frame n 2 axles like a 1960 something 2 ton farm truck.So the money I paid the person to remove the tires was wasted money that I didn't have.Terrible business and very destructive company that has no care at all for their customers.
I love this business! I always seem to accumulate scrap metal from various projects, this time it was from storm window (aluminum) replacement and mini split (copper) installation at my home. When my recycle barrel gets full I head to Atlas. They are super organized, very friendly and best of all pay cash or check for both ferrous and non-ferrous metal. I also find they always pay competitive rates.
I'd recommend staying away from here unless you really love scraping .... they saw 1 piece of brass in 200lbs of Cooper and blamed me for not sorting properly... that's theft. I didn't want to sell brass I wanted to sell my copper I told them that before hand and instead of explaining anything to me they took my shit and blamed me. I've scraped here before and they told me to put it all in one bucket (it ticketed out as type 2) .... the inconsistency leads me to belive there are better places to scrap.
Atlas Metals should get 10 stars from my son & I. With the many years of taking my recyclables to a family based staff, friendly and helpful I would absolutely go here first for the highest prices I found in the Denver area they'll help getherdone
Because I had to I gave them one star. Got an argument with one of their employees because he threw my number one wire and with Romex and then called it all Romex. Then try to argue with me and tell me that I didn't have number one I told him check the cameras and the rude guy that weighs stuff was that I take care of it I take care of it. The next day I go back in he's complaining about everything I have and how it is and how it's supposed to be like I weigh everything I and I see whoever responds to these messages for at least talks mainly to the people that give good reviews they don't try to fix the issues so how do you strive for five stars. 1 out of 10 people that they reply to were only negative the other night we're only positive people review. Tells you a lot about their business right there they'll rob you stay away far away
As a trucker I deal with a lot of poor shippers, and receivers that treat truckers like trash. Here at Atlas I was treated with respect and kindness. 11/8 @ 0700 today the gate attendant was super helpful. He lead me in and assisted weighing me. He guided me to the dock, cleared metal off the path so my tires wouldn’t get damaged, and even helped me blindside into the dock. The ladies in the scale house were kind, and fantastic to interact with. I made a joke about coffee, and food should be waiting for truckers. One of the ladies asked me to wait after I received my paperwork. When she came back she had coffee, and a concha for me! What a fantastic, and lovely lady. Thank you all for a terrific experience.
They do not allow walk in. What makes this dumb and frustrating is it took me asking 15 different vehicle just to drive me in the gate from there I walked up the stairs walked to cash out the arm then walked right off the yard. I worked harder then any vehicle going to that yard to scrap and they sell it. He weighed my aluminum and steel as iron but you know what that I was not in any mood to grind an axe about after walking from 18th and Logan to the yard. The gate guy was incredibly rude when I told him that " not my problem". I am glad I finally got on but will not be back
Picking up a load: arrived at 10:25. A man met us at the truck as soon as we pulled up and told us where to park and wait. We waited 5 minutes, then were assigned a dock. We were guided into the dock smoothly and given clear instructions. We were loaded by 11:45. Had to scale in and out. They came to the truck and met us at each step. Only had to get out of the truck once to go inside and get paperwork when finished. Every single person was kind and helpful.
Staff in the yard is very unfriendly I had a guy trying to take off his gloves and fight me. Because I had one guy telling me to go here and then other guy telling me to go there so they got frustrated with me. They have no signs to give someone directions and then they act like you were dumb for not knowing. They underpay, and they will rob you on the scale. Do not go here. Denver scrap metal &Western metal are much better
DO not go here....scammers!!!! I had 102lbs when I weighed it at home. I get there as soon as he sees my bucket he calls somebody else throws it on the scale quick and takes it away does my other medals don't get to see the screen until I get the print out printouts says 56 pounds like wait a second I had double that and he looks at the dude who already took my bucket and threw it in the big bin Was like oh no no.... Super unprofessional worse placed ever don't go here.
They're okay, but you need to watch them closely and know what your materials are, ask for prices beforehand, and organize different materials neatly. Any chance they get, they will screw you. But if you know how all this works, it can work for you.
Also, they will throw away your scrap along with whatever containers you have, so tell them you want to keep your bags or boxes if you do.
I was pleasantly surprised with their service. I usually go to their Aurora facility where I was consistently underwhelmed. Their system here is much more efficient, especially in the non ferrous metal area . It was obvious who was in charge and I felt respected unlike at the Aurora facility where the subordinates pretend they don't speak English and downgrade with no explanation. At this place, they worked as a team, were all on the same page and got me in and out efficiently. Maybe because I got there five minutes before closing but I look forward to the next time
These people are snakes, I took in over 3000 pounds of copper today ( I weighed it before I went) and they gave me a weight of 540 lbs when I realized this I went to go tell them to kick rocks and give me my copper back and they already were in the process of dumping it. It really makes me wonder how these people sleep at night. I had been saving up copper for 5 years sorting it to make sure I got all the #2 and #1 separated just to have them screw me over.
Tldr take your scrap to a more local shop that has respectable employees as they will give you less than half the value of what you bring in.
Horrible organization. We came in with a 16ft box trailer and was NOT given any direction just pointed fingers. This was our first time visiting. Thank god we are cdl drivers and could maneuver our trailer with ease because we had to back up and turn around at least 8 times in very tight allies with limited space. We will not visit again.
I've been here many times to cash out scrap and usually get decent pay, but my most recent visit was not great. I know how much most of my scrap weighs and I got paid less than half of what I usually bring in which is roughly 100lbs give or take. My last visit I brought in closer to 200lbs and got paid out less than my 100lbs visits. I called and was told that the receipt was correct but I feel like most people know what their weight is. There is a huge difference between 100lbs and 200lbs and I feel like I got hosed on this last visit.

We showed up just after 4pm when they closed with a 14' dump trailer full, but they allowed us to weight our steal and aluminium, dump them seperately, and then pick up a check. They could have easily turned us away, but they didn't. Prices are great and this is our new scrap metal yard going forward!
This is my favorite scrap metal spot in Colorado, and I go well out of my way to take my items there. I find this yard to be friendly, efficient, and to have great rates. You have to walk up some stairs to load your scrap on a cart, but the lines have always felt fair and fast-moving. Just be advised that they don't take new customers a half hour before the posted closing time on Saturdays!
I along with my son have had a good experience there. I have sent my son in and as nervous as he was he came home with a smile and a check for his hard work. Much better than other recycling facilities. If I ever had a question on anything they were very polite and very thorough with their explanation giving Atlas a great reputation.
had no problems. got $120 for all the cooper I brought in which seems like a fair price. loaded it up on a cart, took it back to two guys who weighted it, got a receipt, took that to the front, then got an order which you take to the ATM to withdraw money
