Had a Deno help me with my load of metal I hauled out of my recently departed father's garage. Had no idea what I had or how to separate it it. He was awesome taught me alot! I'll be back and better organized. Thanks again for being so patient with me!!!
Never recycle at least your aluminum at this place I just took in probably around 150 to 200 lb of scrap aluminum gutter and just because it had tiny zip screws in downspouts and some of the old hangers they mark it as dirty aluminum and don't even pay you a quarter of the cost of what you would get if you recycle that All recycle or C&M Metals
The girl in the pink safety vest (Tylar) who works the front gate is awesome! She is efficient and she is very polite and easy to deal with which is not always the case, so I appreciate that very much!
I’m really not sure why this place has such a low rating. I have never seen a scrapyard or recycle center so clean, and I’ve been to many. Not to mention the culture. Believe me, this place has definitely changed. I used to hate going to the scrapyard because the people were rude and angry all the time. I really don’t quite know when this place made the changes but I first noticed it a couple months ago. Not only was I greeted with a smile, but I couldn’t believe my eyes at how clean it was. The people at western metals are friendly and focused. From the awesome crews in the copper, aluminum,brass recycling ( led by Dino), a man that not only knows his materials but will definitely help to educate you on how to get the best price for your materials, to the guys and gals that work in the steel recycle, all the way to the front office cashiers, have been nothing but pleasant and good hard working people. Now when I have to scrap/ recycle anything I don’t worry about rude people or attitudes. I go knowing I will be treated good. This is no bs ! Every other place to recycle is filthy and rude. I will never go anywhere else. Other companies could learn a lot from western metals culture. This is how you run a successful business. Thank you western metals for your unbelievable changes! People were nice but this is the worst ran buisness ive seen run. The computers are always down so you are stuck with donating. Dont come here if you plab on making any money becuase they have horriblw prices
Used to go here 20 years ago when they were nice and honest. Went there once last year and just like others are saying, treat you like dirt, lie to your face, give you dirty rates for clean metal, etc. will never go there again. If I could give less than one star I would.
They guy told me all my cables were 20-30 percent, and I didn’t know enough to question it, different scrap yard helped me sort and get my moneys worth, these guys will take advantage of ignorance. Very very bad business practice.
Go to ATLAS RECYCLING off I25 and 8th Ave! They are honest and fair, don't try to rip you off or pay dirty prices for clean stuff. EVERYBODY at ATLAS like their jobs and are happy people! That being said ALL the 5/4 star reviews are just workers or friends/family of workers because this place is the worst in Colorado! The employees are ALL rude every minute of every day. Nobody here likes their jobs and they are always shorting weight or paying out the lowest prices they possibly can. They treat customers like second class citizens and yell and scream at people. They also will accuse you of picking up scrap off the ground when you aren't. They like to tell you that you don't have what you say you have and act like you have no clue what you are doing. Been scrapping for over 20 years I know what I have. They'll pay you dirty prices for clean scrap! Never answer their phones or return phone calls. Everybody gives you a different answer about pricing and then just pay you whatever price they feel like for the day. They are unprofessional in every way and really have no business still even being in business.

Stay away from this place, they have horrible customer service waited in line for over an hour and got paid a misery. Waiting in line is not worth what they are paying you. Staff is extremely rude
Tried calling many times. This place isn't interested in new business, will never answer the phone regardless of what option you press of what time you call. Trying to get rid of old vintage gold/silver/brass/copper and platinum components... Will go to Atlas Metal instead, I hear Atlas values customers and the time the customer takes to call them and ask questions.
Great place and clean but the lady up front was really rude my trailer gate opened up on accident and I hoped out to close it real quick and she came up yelling bashing not to dump it there like she didint see my gate slam open
They shorted my weight, and two employees harrassed me about walking up to drop stuff off, and a third said i was making it up.
I went to the lot to drop off some copper pipe and cans from a demo job, and an employee ran up to me and accused me of picking up scrap in the yard. When i explained that i was there to drop some stuff off from a job i did he very obtusly said they dont take walk-in, i assumed he meant they dont take scrape from the public and when i asked what the people in the cars right next to us we're doing he said "well, THEY have cars so you need to leave." I made him aware that i did infact have a car and he shouldn't assume things about people. And i guess he didnt like that because he told his manager who also then came to harass me and said he didn't have to take my scrap. When i told him that he should maybe speak with his employee about what happened and how he shouldn't imply people are poor because they scrap he said, "Well, i wasn't there for that conversation." When i reported all this to the lady in the office she said "I'm sure that's not what he said."
If I could zero stars i would of . Dude at the scales was rude as could be. Told us we could not scrap our steal there because we were borrowing a truck from work and he would have to write a check to the company instead of paying us. Basically because I had a company name on the side of my truck you can't pay me cash? What kinda company policy is that..
I went in and asked specifically before I unloaded any materials what they would pay per pound for my material, and they quoted me $0.80/LB, so I off-loaded over 1,000lbs of material and went to the cashier and they wrote the check for $0.20/LB less ($0.60) which was 25% less! I confronted the two gentleman that quoted me and the cashier and asked them how they could just change the price on me. They just shrugged their shoulders.
They know I couldn’t reload the material and take it with me.
What a scam. Don’t go here and take business to a competitor. They were giving me 80% more for the same material.
With such low prices, I am surprised they offer so much free attitude with the experience! Rude, condescending, will give incorrect and internally conflicting information about their process. Ferrous brake rotors go to non-ferrous?? Nope, warehouse staff will also give you the same level of TMZ when directed accordingly. Get it together WM, especially if you’re going to talk to a customer as though they’re the ignorant one in the communication. SMH!
I just needed to recycle my gas powered lawn mower. I drove to the wrong area in the yard, and waited in the wrong line. Didn’t matter! The attendant (who spoke perfect english) said no problem. He would take my mower there anyway. He gave me my ticket for the office window, and directed me how to drive to the office. The office attendant could not have been nicer with each person in line. She had a great attitude, and worked efficiently. I’ll go back the next time I have metals to recycle.

I unknowingly parked in employee parking. There was no signage. when I entered the office he immediately told me in an angry tone, not to park in employee parking . I told him " sorry this is my first time here I didn't know where to park it's not marked. he responded 'we'll you can learn. They seem to have a pretty good operation going there except for the punk they choose to put behind the counter to deal with customers.
I usally go here every couple of months usally really nice & easy. But today unfriendly, ugly employees. No little scales today cause no one really wants to work. Said I didn't have enough to recycle today for them. I have a small truck with a bathtub in it ( so not light) not over a 100lbs. Wow! I guess Im to drive around til they get more people. NOT!
last time i took copper into this place, they asked me to put it all in one barrel even though i had pure bright wire as well as plumbing pipe which is paid at a lower price. i thought they would be fair with me and maybe set the price paid to me in the middle but no, they weighed it out as pipe and gave me the receipt to take to the office. when i noticed i was being paid the lowest amount, i asked the attendant why i was given the lowest and he didn't give me an answer while his associate quickly dumped the barrel into the copper pipe area. i am not sure what these shysters get from their bosses for stiffing people but it won't happen again, i will either go elsewhere or make sure i do not fall for the con game again. they make plenty off of this business to not have to treat people this way but hey, they are still in business so the dummies must keep coming.......
Not friendly because them disappointed what Philip Guthals try to some Earth Day clean up then someone saw me but getting the CEO involved for and start a business thing for that problem about that
Rude employee's with awful customer service. They will always attempt to cheat you out of the additional 5 cents per pound when bringing over 500 pounds of copper.
Jerrett has attempted to do this 5 times now even after reminding him.
Been here several times. They sort the scrap differently everyone ultimately affecting the final price they pay. No 2 people EVER sort it the same. Then when you go to get paid, the lady at the counter is extremely rude with the worst attitude. Will NEVER go back. Ill be taking my business somewhere else that is more consistent from no on. DO NOT GO THERE...
I come here a lot when I need to dump the metal panels off my work truck. The flow of traffic is almost always smoothing and easy. Very simple process which I can’t say of other yards I’ve been too. Is very obvious where you need to drive and people are there to direct you. Staff is almost always friendly and helpful. I usually get almost twice the payout here as compared to other yards I’ve been to in Colorado Springs. Highly recommend.
After two visits here I am satisfied with my experiences. Wait times have been reasonable, seeing as how it is based on when random people decide to drop by. The staff have been friendly and give advice on separating metals for best price and explaining any variations in expected metal composition (ie: copper plated metals vs solid, brass plated vs solid brass). Prices have been comparable to all of the places I've been over the last 12 years.
