Unbelievably beautiful location, especially during the night! No WiFi in the room or deck, only in main cabin. Food was good. Lots of mosquitoes during the summer, make sure to bring bug spray.

We drove up from Chico for dinner. It was excellent. Great food great service with great company. Highly recommend it.

Beautiful place with bad food and bad service. Chicken Santa Fe was overcooked and dry. Tasted like left overs from 4 days ago.

We stayed in Meadows Edge cabin. It has an excellent view of the meadows and hills beyond with hoards of birds visiting and ducks in the field calling. Everything was clean, quiet and updated with a nice shower, lots of windows for light and the view. There is no AC, but being so high up, you probably very rarely need it. There is a gas fireplace and small heater when needed. Small fridge with mini-freezer. No wifi, nor microwave in the room, which would be nice for the price you pay. It's only 10-15 minutes to Lassen National Park Visitor center.

We were passing by (after a day at Lassen Volcanic NP) for dinner. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the dining area is cosy, warm & inviting, as if you were sitting in a living room. The food tastes great and was nicely presented. I deduct one star as they add a credit card surcharge to the check. In the land of credit cards where you can pay anytime and anywhere with a CC this should not be added anymore to the bill. Especially if you are a hotel. But in general I can highly recommend this place! Thank you.

This review is for its motel that is across the road which they call The Village at Highlands Ranch. It is a jarringly basic motel with no wi-fi or cell service and barely any furniture. Our room had an overwhelming smell of cleaning solution and had dead bugs below the window and in the bathroom. "I'll sleep in the car," my companion -- who never complaints -- quietly said. ||How basic? The bed had no headboard. The two sitting chairs were small and one of them was taped together. The only table or eating surface in the room was a tiny table under the TV. There was no closet. The bathroom had no place to put your toiletries -- there was only a small pedestal sink. To get into the shower you have to squeeze between the sink and shower entrance. The shower itself was in good condition but it did not have a light and was so dark that we had to keep the shower curtain open to let in some light. Half of the towels were stained. We checked out at dawn.||It is very close to Lassen National Park and there are not many other lodging options. ||The people who worked there were nice.||The restaurant at the Resort was good and there is wifi reception there.

We ate here two nights in a row. Not much to choose from while staying in Lassen area but we were very pleased with the food and wine selection here. It’s a beautiful location. Kimo waited on us both nights and he was excellent

When I was invited to have dinner here with a few friends I was thrilled because I have heard nothing but good things about this place, and their food. We walked up and immediately took note of the beautiful atmosphere both inside and outside although we decided to sit outside which i’m glad because the sunset and views ended up being the highlight of the evening. Service was mediocre at best and I picked up on that right away when there was no hostess up front to greet us and it took a substantial amount of time for our server to come over and introduce herself. We started off with our first round of drinks and an appetizer as well as the complimentary bread that is offered. Bread was not soft , hard to bite through but the lavender butter was phenomenal. I ordered the pinot grigio and it was nothing spectacular but decent, my friends all ordered various margaritas the paloma’s specifically tasted rancid. You can get a cheaper better marg at your local mexican restaurant. We also went with the chipotle honey prawns as a starter and it was the worst shrimp i’ve ever had in my life, it was chewy , lukewarm almost cold in the center and had a strong fishy taste nobody at the table had a second helping. All of our main entrees were okay, except the mac and cheese was decently good. I’d say nothing I ate or drank here was worth the price point but the atmosphere and some better service would make up for it. We also decided to try a dessert and again nothing special , I didn’t expect to get the kinds of beignets i’m used to at a restaurant like this. I’d also like to add that they were out of quite a few things including different kinds of beers but I try not to be nitt-picky about things like that. Despite all of this I was not the one paying/tipping on this bill. I was extremely grateful to have gotten to experience this place as a treat from one of my friends. With that being said, it was highly inappropriate when our waitress of the evening approached/confronted me and my friend as we were walking out of the bathroom and ready to leave. she proceeded to ridicule how much our friend tipped her, announced how much the bill/tip actually was and in a very passive aggressive manner despite knowing we were not the ones paying. Im a huge proponent of treating my wait staff well and tipping well when I feel necessary and I usually do even if I don’t have a great experience however approaching the women of the table about this was extremely rude and made us both uncomfortable and eager to get her to stop talking to us. on top of it all me and my boyfriend got very sick from this food and I had to call off work today. I hope the owner can realize that to make a good experience for customers it’s a team effort with all of the staff, and i’m not sure if it’s been made allowed for your staff to confront customers and guests at your establishment but maybe change that.

We enjoyed lunch this week and it was very good. Our waiter Alexander did a fantastic job. Because of his service we will come back again. It is a beautiful place and we always enjoy our visits here.

The restaurant had 2 people working. One cook & one server, and they were slammed!! Service was understandably slow but excellent! Food was still spectacular!

Had a large group reservation for Sunday brunch at 11 am at the restaurant. It was us and one other small table of three, otherwisethe place was empty. They don't serve brunch so our options were from the lunch menu. I ordered a bloody Mary and the Mahi Mahi tacos, beer battered. Our service was atrocious. The waitress took our order disappeared and later brought the food and we never saw her again. We were never offered refills on drinks and no one refilled our water. When the food came she served everyone except one of us. She left the plate behind her on another table. We waited and waited but the waitress never returned. My husband said, is that your burger? And pointed to the plate on the table behind her and out of sight. She stood up, saw it was what she had ordered and brought it to the table and we all then ate. I enjoyed my food and drink however my husband did not. He said his burger was over cooked and very dry. He found the sauce was only on the right side of the burger in a small dollop. He had the onion ring burger and it had one small onion ring inside the burger sitting on the dollop of sauce. He generally doesn't complain about food, so I know it had to have been bad for him to say something. Since the waitress never came back we had to go to the bar to get our check and close out. I don't think we'll be making a special trip to eat there again. The restaurant is beautiful and very large. I just wish it had been a good experience overall.

Beautiful place near the south entrance of Lassen Park. Cabins were cute and luxurious grouped facing a spectacular meadow. My family had fun watching the cowboys heard the cows on this meadow. Food was delicious and staff go out of their way to be accommodating.

Cottages are so serene and in a beautiful location. Restaurant food is expensive but was fantastic and worth the price - steaks were perfectly cooked and the whole meal was just great. Even the homemade honey lavender butter served with the complementary sourdough was amazing

Giving 5☆ for location because it's very remote. A peaceful, natural setting. Road is well maintained. But no gas or other related services. Overall, an absolutely magnificent location, facility and rooms/cabins. Great place to unplug, unwind, truly relax and enjoy our ?!

We stayed at the village and the rooms were not comfortable and didn’t even have basic outlets tht you could use for charging. We plugged int to extension cords that was next to the bed. The walls are paper thin no you can hear everything your neighbors are doing and this is not n exageration. You will hear ever door open and every toilet flush all night. It is next to the road and the logging trucks are very loud and we didn’t sleep well the entire night. The staff and restaurant we great, unfortunately had a terrible stay.

My girlfriend and I stopped for dinner to celebrate her birthday on 6/6/25. We ate outside on the deck, and the view of the hills, pasture, and cattle was nice, as was the weather. Unfortunately, another couple was there with a 3 and 5 yr old. They allowed their kids to run around on the deck and yell, disrupting other diners. The 3 yr old was naked as a jaybird! ? I told the host that seated us, it was a special occasion for my girlfriend's birthday. When the waiter brought us bread, he wished her a happy birthday. She ordered a single buffalo rib meal, and I ordered a beef rib-eye meal. We also ordered Brussel sprouts for an appetizer. We decided on water as our only beverage, since it's mountain fresh water. We completed our slightly better than average meal, and had to wait for a bit to pay the waiter $166 for our appetizer and two entree meal. Unfortunately, their wifi doesn't reach out to the outside deck, so we could check email while we waited for the check. I was a bit disappointed the waiter didn't bring the birthday girl something simple, like a scoop of ice-cream, or a mint after dinner, but I guess they don't do that? We are happy to have tried dinner, but didn't feel there was enough value in what we experienced, versus the total cost. We may consider trying lunch in the future, but I doubt we will return for dinner. I will say the outdoor views are VERY nice, the whole property was clean, and the staff presented themselves well.

Everything was great. Food, ambience and staff. Stayed at the hotel across the street for a great price. The grounds are beautiful and serene. But unfortunately, they are not pet friendly. Which is a pity.

Our family stayed at one of the cottages at Highlands Ranch Resort and it made for a perfect getaway/vacation! A big ‘Thank You’ to Payton, Casey, and Genesee for going above and beyond to ensure our family had a pleasant stay. We were able to explore Lassen visitors center and nearby hiking trails based on the close proximity to everything. The cottage (Serenity 3#) at Highlands Ranch Resort was really nice with plenty of touches to make you feel at home. The food at the lodge was outstanding! Well done on both the breakfast/dinner menus and especially the quality of food. Bonus: They carry my favorite whiskey, which is hard to find in public places and will remain nameless so I can ensure there’s plenty remaining upon our return. If you’re in the Los Angeles area and want a wonderful couples and/or family getaway…it’s a simple flight from LAX to RDD, followed by a drive of a little more than an hour. Highly recommend Highlands Ranch Resort to anyone visiting the area. Without a doubt we will be returning!

The restaurant is great- a must stop if you’ve been at lassen park or the vicinity doing things and want to grab a burger and drink. You know how sometimes places in the middle of nowhere have “meh” food? Not here. Everything we had was great and reasonable, especially the kids meals. The kids Mac and cheese and chicken are a full rap and delicious. I had the burger, which was great, and the table shared a bunch of appetizers that were equally tasty. We’ll definitely be back!

Delicious food!! The calamari sticks were suuuper tender and the sauce that came with was zesty and delicious. The puff pastry with seafood (I'm sorry I'm so bad at remembering names of things) was amazing and they were really generous with the amount of crab that goes in it! The rooms looked very nice and clean with comfy beds

This review is for the motel units across the street from the Resort. The people that run the snazzy place also operate the RV park & motel across the street. This was a bit confusing for us at first for the checkin. Motel was fine. It was a motel. We actually stayed in the handicap suite because it was the last King bed room. It was rather sparsely furnished but maybe to make it easy for a wheelchair. It was very clean & the bed & linens were very comfortable. Room had a coffeemaker, fridge & microwave. The staff were great & came across the road to open the store just so we could buy some beer, which we enjoyed on the adirondack chairs outside our room! As in most other hotels, only one luggage rack. Please add another for my suitcase too! Very convenient to Lassen National Park, But not cheap at $188.

This fantastic lodge right outside of Lassen National Volcanic Park was the surprise best of our trip. We stayed in the Serenity cottage, which was beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, and had a fireplace and two-person hot tub, both of which we were happy to use after a day of hiking in the park. The food and service at the restaurant were both among the best we’ve had, and an excellent breakfast was included with our stay. Beautiful setting - we wish we could have stayed longer.

It’s okay. The rooms are okay with some nice chairs to sit outside. The bed is comfortable. The shower is quite dark. There is no wifi. The reason being either the fire or the remote area per website or staff. It’s strange though, the resort across the street does have wifi. For the price of the rooms I expected a little more. The shop and Frank’s restaurant is closed already, so not a lot of dining options at the moment other than the more expensive restaurant at the resort. Which does have a nice ambiance and the food is reasonable (except the over crispy bacon in the morning and over fried chicken).

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. The room was very nice and spacious, the bathroom had heated tile floor. There is no air conditioning in the room (which is probably not an issue most of the year) and the cottage is close to the highway so if you open the windows to cool the room at night the road noise makes it difficult to sleep. You can hear it in the attached video. The restaurant had great food but be prepared for the meal to take a while from start to finish. Gave only four stars because of the road noise.

Beautiful setting immediately adjacent to a broad meadow with forested mountains all around. Cottages are nice. Great bedding. Small gas fireplaces for another time of year. A hot tub you pay extra for where anyone walking by can see you? No A/C.? Food decent in nice big restaurant/bar with outdoor seating. Breakfast especially good. Outdoor fire pit at night under stars. Would only stay there again if less than 75 degrees.

Very nice place to stay close to Lassen. We were in Cottage 1, which was closest to the meadow/pasture. We enjoyed listening to the cows, but that may not be for everyone. Restaurant was very good and the only place to get Wi-Fi on the property (basically no cell coverage with AT&T near the resort).

We were beyond impressed with the friendly staff, amazing accommodations, incredible location, and delectable food. We ate at the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast and they were both some of the best foods we have eaten in our entire lives. Our cabin was cozy and warm. We did have a fair number of spider friends but heck it was a snow storm and they needed a place to get warm too. They kept to themselves for the most part and was not a concern. We could not recommend Highland enough.

The wife and I stopped by Highlands this afternoon to grab a drink at the bar. She had visited a time or two before and was excited to return. Highlands Ranch Resort is such a cool place! It's spacious and in such a gorgeous location. I sparked up conversation with the guy behind the bar. He was friendly, cool and knowledgeable about his whiskey. He recommended a smooth and delicious selection out of Bend Oregon called Crater Lake. I'm glad we stopped in and am already looking forward to our next visit. Perhaps a stay in the lodge next time!

This is a wonderful, spacious lodge with a mix of both modern and rustic interiors. We have been coming here since it opened and are loyal fans. The food is good and atmosphere excellent. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. Weekends usually include live music and the extensive bar is beautiful. The Dixie Fire has left some mountains on the opposite side of highway 36 somewhat damaged but the forest views from the lodge location, restaurant and cabin locations are all preserved, green and beautiful. Dont let the previous fire be a reason to stay away. Highlands Resort charm remains intact. When we ate there the end of April 2022 the place was busy and the restaurant had many occupied tables of happy customers.
