Bait and Switch! Was told one price for my aluminum truck rims ($1.65/lb) and paid another ($0.26/lb). I was very specific on the phone about them being rims. The woman at the window was almost tickled when she told me the scrap price. I could tell this was not their first time getting one of us "rubes." I give two starts for pulling-the-fast-one. Also, I waited in line for 45 minutes because the Non-Ferrous line was blocked by a dumpster. Good times!
The service was fine IT was when you call and ask a price compared to what they actually pay you was about $1.60 lb difference. $50 to $60 robbed.. #1 copper wire.Do not take your copper/ wire there. Cans and bottles /PLASTIC actually pays decent

Take all my California crv recycling here! You should have all your items seperated before you arrive; bottles, plastic, metal, etc. Just better for everyone! UPDATE: I Just visited this establishment on 6/22/24 and they were definitely open! I don't know why google maps has 'Permanently closed'!
Came in with both bottles and aluminum cans, three of the workers assisted me in taking out my bags, they were fast and efficient. Got in there and out quickly.
A&S metals well now I know what the A and the S stand for ALWAYS STEALING . They pay well below average for scrap metal such as brass,copper. For taking your cans and bottles they pay decent so I gave them 1 star only due to the payout for CRV. Don’t take your other scrap metal here unless you want them to basically steal from you .
Had to wait quite some time in a line I never needed to wait in. Like 40 mins. Since I had copper I was informed, as my turn came anyways to go into a empty lane for me. No signs in front really direct you at all. Nice guys tho. Great staff.
And really not sure why but clean copper tubing at 2.50lb right now and they only paid out 1.50lb. But I was over it and not about to argue. First time and last I’ll ever go so I just left.
Last visit was pleasing compared to previous visit where the other customers helped themselves grabbing recycle bins (garbage cans) without being assisted by the employees that work there assuming they will get their recyclables weighed before those in front of them. Now its single file for the vehicle and attention is focus on this vehicle. A great change!
I arrived 10 minutes before closing time but the gate was locked. Then called on the phone, but there was no answer. I recommend going earlier, but I'd hold off unless they pick up the phone when you call .... unless you're adventurous like me ; )
Really bad service, the guy that helped us was in a terrible mood. I personally think they should hire or train their staff to better serve their costomers.
I will never go there again. For this reason I am giving this place a one star rating !
Sometimes it's super busy, today was great. In and out in 15 minutes ! Helpful staff and cleaning after every customer, a rarity. 8 stars ! Good job A&S
There's no signage on the building or road that is visible especially from the entrance, but if you know where you're going it's a fair business. Their rates are somewhat competitive, however I'm sure I'm not getting the full 10 cents on my Gatorade bottles by weight. But very clean for a recycling shop, well organized and friendly employees. Only thing is the signage. You come in off W Beach St, then pull around the back and enter the building in your vehicle from the rear of the building, inside the fencing. At that point there should be an employee to direct you.
Easy and efficient process for recycling and you get paid for it right there. They take mixed plastics, aluminum and glass, anything with crv on it. Also all kinds of metals. The ladies at the payment window were really nice and polite.
A&S metals is where I've always recycled my aluminum cans. Seems they've always paid the most around watson. Good help, and good staff. Place is always busy. So u wanna get there early.
The car line takes a bit of time. When you get inside the workers are fast and efficient. I would say it took five minutes after opening the trunk to get cans out and walking out with the money for recycling. Wait in line took probably thirty to forty-five minutes.
They have always had a very organized system but with Covid they actually assign a person to help you at your vehicle. I was in and out of there in less than an hour. See ya next time!
I'm glad this place is in Watsonville because it's close. But very unorganized traffic is not controlled very well people are lined up with plastic another things that don't need to be weighed. All of that traffic impede the progress of anyone trying to get in with a trailer load of Steel or metal to discard. It could be organized a lot better by using either paint designating Lanes or traffic cones either one. Also trying to turn around once you've got a trailer Inside is very frustrating for the weigh out. I wish the traffic flow were managed better it would make it much easier experience.
It's a free for all there. It's been shut for 2 months. Come early the people start lining up early. I got in line @7:00 am and didn't get out till 11:55 p.m.
Waste of Time. Now that they are the only place to get money for recycling, the place is a madhouse. People cutting in line and no attention by employees to service people in the order received. No longer worth the effort waiting over an hour for receiving a lot less in return than the competitor that shut down. I will reduce my CRV footprint and just donate my remaining CRV items to Grey Bears.
Considering its the only place in Santa Cruz County still open You'll have to deal with the 1 to 3 hour wait to get your chance to redeem your CRV bottles and cans. The staff is friendly but overworked for certain.
The staff in the warehouse are very helpful when it comes to unloading material and the wait time is very reasonable. The only complaint I have is with the prices. I once recycled 260lbs worth of metal and only received a dollar with some change.
