What clients say about San Martín Transfer Station in San Martin (CA)
-
This place is the worst. Long wait times in line. You cannot have mixed items, they will charge you a min of $84 to dump a small truck bed load. Even if you have a free coupon from the city, they make it hard to dump anything there. If you have a sectional, they charge $70 per piece. The girl that works at the front loves her job way too much and will become very emotional over garbage. She almost cried because I threw away a table that had a piece of metal on it.

This transfer station has an outstanding team, and Maggie is truly one of the standouts. She’s consistently friendly, easygoing, and a joy to interact with. I stop by monthly to drop off cardboard, and thanks to Maggie, it’s always a pleasant experience. I genuinely appreciate everyone at the station for going the extra mile—it doesn’t go unnoticed.

I had a frustrating experience at the San Martin Transfer Station. The pricing is exorbitant—$50 per cubic yard is steep, especially compared to other facilities like Kirby Canyon, where you pay by weight, not volume. My small truckload of mixed waste cost over $200, which feels like a rip-off. The process is inefficient; check-in and check-out are painfully slow, with staff seeming disorganized. The facility itself looks rundown, and there’s no clear signage to guide you, making it confusing for first-timers. To top it off, they don’t accept household hazardous waste, so I had to make another trip elsewhere. I won’t be back unless I have no other choice.

This place is so over priced its ridiculous…. Hollister in 10% of what this place charges. San Jose is 25% not sire why they get away with price gouging but I stopped going there.

I come here twice a year with my voucher. Always good people helping me and if you dump what the voucher says you can dump THEY DO NOT CHARGE YOU EXTRA. I see a lot of reviews that are mostly likely from people who are not reading the voucher. Just want to make that clear. This is a good operation they are running. If you do not have a voucher, even they will recommend you to go to kirby canyon if you got a big load to dump. These guys are good people.

The FREE VOUCHER that they give is for recycle ONLY which I didn’t have much of so if you have garbage you would have to pay the $85 on top of the free voucher, they don’t tell you that at the office so my garbage was 1 duffel bag, 4 pieces of 4foot pvc pipes, 1 old high chair, and a small bag of old beat up shoes and had to pay $85 by far the worst transfer station, I have ever been to with the lack of communication between the office and the people the scale house, wish I can give them minus 5 stars!

It's expensive! Cardboard is free...most other items are $40 to $60 dollars a piece. Your better off going f to the dump if you want to keep your cost down.

It's a wonder we have garbage on streets very expensive to dump 110.00 for small amount of trash last last time I will be doing spring cleaning

Sooo…I hadn’t been here in maybe 5 years!…while they may have made some improvements…they have really slowed the process up. Takes way too long considering they weigh your vehicle going in and out…they only had one person working and she was running between the incoming and outgoing lanes…and she wasn’t fast about it…took me 45 minutes to work thru the whole process…and I just had a small pick up truck worth of junk…they charged 75 dollars!…no wonder people dump stuff on the side of the road!..we need to speed things up…charge less..then maybe people wouldn’t throw their junk on the side of the road!

$120 for a truck bed full. Drive the extra few minutes to Pacific Coast in Gilroy for half the price

Very friendly, but they did not accept a lot of things so call ahead. No concrete accepted, and tile has to be really broken down they said. They do take dry wall though

All signs and advertising say open saturday 8am-4pm. Not on 5/1/21... "Staffing issues." Now i am stuck with a truck full of "trash" until i have time next Saturday. It would seem like good business practice to have more than one person manage incoming and outgoing business... Unfortunately not the case here. A necessity based business ran with a lack of care or thought, sucks for the consumer.

0 stars if possible. waited in line 30 minutes just to find out there machine can not handle tree branches. The employee at the front gate said nothing to us, just let us get in line. Worst Operations Managment in the history of Operations Managment. This is not the first time I've used this dump, it use to be great before the last managment change.

60 dollar minimum no matter how much trash you have. If you come back tomorrow you might be told 80 dollars minimum.

Pretty much anytime I’ve gone there the price changes and yet I’ve either had the same size or smaller yet get weird charges, then without warning it can be closed because it maybe full, seems to me they can keep trucks moving in and out with loads to the main dump, so I choose to go to the landfill off 101 & coyote creek golf Drive exit right, at least there you’re weighed in and out so you only pay what is being dumped.

They measure by the cubic yard, very expensive, you should go to luchessa in gilroy , they charge by weight about half the cost for household waste!
