This is the best wrecking yard I’ve ever been to!! I bought a used engine that came with a 60 day warranty which gave me plenty of time to put it in my car and drive it. They were honest about what mileage the engine had and even provided me with a vin number to confirm. Their yard was so clean and organized too which I haven’t seen before with other yards. Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for used parts at a fraction of the price of dealerships!
I will not return to this business. I called ahead of time to check if they had an engine available. That answered and confirmed they did and said it was in excellent shape. I took their word and ended up with a bad engine. All the spark plugs were covered in oil.
Please do not take their word worth a grain of salt. Do you due diligence and check what you are buying. The person who helped me knew what they were doing. The engine was listed as grade A and with less than 100k miles on the web. I just checked and the engine is still up for sale. I called and they said they have the engine when I bought it months ago. I am reporting this to BBB.
These folks deserve much better reviews!! Been here twice now, once for a transmission and some interior parts, and another time for an idle control valve. All parts were pulled from the car and given to me the same exact day I came in. Super easy to work with too—I came in right before their lunch break on accident and wanted to get the idle control valve before I headed out of town later in the day, and they worked with me and pulled it out then and there. Super appreciate them for being so accommodating and it's so great having a local junkyard to get parts from. Totally recommend!
They wasted 5 hours of my time by providing false information on the phone, then tried to sell me other damaged parts when I drove hours to get there. Wish I could have my tank of fuel and my day back
I had been looking for an auto part and I called steel head. I spoke with Bill and he told me he would have the part in two day. I called the day before to make sure and also so he could set the part aside. The morning of, I called again to let Bill know that I’m on my way (I live over an hour away) and he tells me he sold it yesterday! Why would he sell it if the part was set aside for me.
Wanted to let everyone know just how ethical these guys are. I ordered a transmission that was shipped to me, and it turned out to have a problem they could never have known about, and they made it right without any drama. Great to deal with a stand up company that does the right thing.
I got a transmission from these guys - it had low miles and was reasonably priced. They are trustworthy and helped me when I called them a few days later with a torque converter issue. I will definitely use their services again.
Steelhead auto wrecking replaced a engine for me and gave me a really good price this is just amazing that you can go to a junkyard and drive away with your same vehicle but a better engine and guaranteed thank you steal head.....juan
I was stranded in Goleta CA dut to starter motor failure of my van.
Contacted Steelhead AR and they got me a starter for 1/3 of the price.
I drove to their yard to pickup the parts and couldn't start my van sgain.
The owner and their employee helped me install the motor.
I salut to their top customer service. Thanks again for your help to get me going my 6000 mile road experience. Z
Needed 4 rims for my '98 CR-V, they had them. Took all of about 1/2 hour to get them from the yard & for them to remove the tires. From the looks of the yard, they have just about everything you could need. Strongly recommend them. Great service & price.
Oh my God! I don't write reviews but I have to for this place...Dicks! One of the two dudes didn't even want to let me look at the cars, he took one look at me and said "he's not going to buy anything!" Haha! Jesus man, save yourself the trouble, look somewhere else for parts...literally, anywhere.
I rebuild cars for a living. Steelhead is by far the best wrecking yard I've been to. They have fair prices, and are awesome guys. If they don't have the part, they'll look for it around the country for me. It's always a clean place too! I don't understand what problems the other people that reviewed have. They probably just don't like spending money or were having a bad day.
These guys suck. Ive called them multiple times over the last 2 years and they have always been really bad with customer service. I understand if you dont have a part, but you dont have to be a dick about it. Feels like im talking to a DMV employee. I would prefer to get my part from anywhere else even if I had to pay more. They quoted me a price on a part I found online new, for the same price.... At least buy me a beer before you do that to me.
I called ahead to ask if they had a hood latch mechanism for my model of car. The owner, Matt, checked and said yes.
I came in with a more mechanically-inclined friend and they showed us the vehicle and let us remove the part ourselves. All we needed was a small spring, so we took it off and brought it to the office.
The owner told us that I’d have to buy the whole latch assembly for $48. My friend obliged and left and came back with the part, plus a new idea: why don’t we go to a hardware store and buy the spring. If they didn’t have it, we could come back and buy the whole assembly.
The owner did NOT take to this idea. He got heated, and told my friend when we came back it’d be $60. His anger made my friend immediately offer to purchase the part on the spot, but instead the owner insisted that we leave. He literally waved us out until we had left the building.
So yeah. One star because this was an awful experience, with an extra added because they did have the part I needed.
They have what you want... If you don't mind it being priced as new and being 10+ years old. I wouldn't go back to this place. It's just an old guy tryna hustle you for old junk.
The guys at steelhead are super friendly. They get the parts you need and fast. Great inventory. If they don't have your part in stock they will help you find it for a good price. Highly recommend.
Great Experience i had today. I went for a couple parts. A mirror and light. They helped me really fast. They have a huge inventory and are there to help. Great new and used auto parts! I was able to get the parts i needed for cheap and they were great quality. If you need any part they can get it.
Todd at Steelhead is the best in the business!!! Todd is the go-to guy for any part you need! He is helpful, honest and just plain upright!
He searched around for the part I needed, he got it the next day, installed it in my car, and I will certainly go back to Steelhead again, as long as Todd is there!
