I had to return a part, but my credit card had expired and the system was having trouble processing the refund. The team really tried to help, even though it wasn’t straightforward. They called the manager (his name was Robert), and his badge said something like “Customer Success” or “Customer Champion,” which he absolutely deserves. Even though he was busy, he didn’t hesitate to step in and help resolve the situation. Truly a great team at this AutoZone location!

My response is on behalf of Jeffery at San Mateo, CA store on El Camino Real. I often shop at this store because of the well-stocked inventory and customer service is consistently outstanding. This morning (11/09/2026), Jeffery went 'above & beyond' with helping me select the correct oil and filter for my truck. Then, in the afternoon, he helped me dispose of the used oil, install two windshield wipers (the old ones were extremely difficult to remove), and finished up by running a diagnostic test on my truck's battery, starter, and alternator. I am sincerely appreciative of Jeffery's efforts today and it’s because of employees like him that I will continue to buy from Auto Zone in San Mateo, CA on El Camino Real. Thank you!

Came here to replace a dead battery for my Lexus. I had no idea how to do it myself, and David (one of the salespeople) kindly helped me replace the battery. It was much more complex than we initially thought, yet David still helped till the end, which took around 45 minutes in total. Huge kudos for his patience and dedication — he went above and beyond to make sure everything worked perfectly.

Axel provided excellent service He took the time toward the end of his work shift to explain to me how to fix my headlight. I appreciate how patient and supportive he was. When it comes to cars many have a great deal of knowledge, but few have the ability to show such respect and kindness.

most efficient service is refund and at moment you pay, afterwards they don't care about you. they dont even have sufficient tool to borrow for you to the battery on.

Had a great experience at this location. I came in to buy a battery for my mom’s car and one of the employees (I didn’t catch his name) was incredibly helpful. He walked us through the options and confirmed the right fit (we got the Duralast Platinum 51R-AGM). What stood out is that he even let us borrow a 10mm wrench so we could do the install ourselves in the parking lot — that made things so much easier. You don’t always get that kind of support at retail stores, so it definitely made an impression. Solid customer service all around.

I was overdue for a new car battery and AutoZone came through. I had been putting it off and sure enough it was failing on my way to an important event. I believe the associate's name was Jason. Not only did the team meet me with courtesy, they helped explain a few differences between the list of batteries I was looking for to help me make a decision. Jason then quickly assisted with getting my new battery installed in order for me to get to my event on time!

Terrible customer service. Especially the guy with the poorly styled mullet. He was so impatient with customers and was sarcastic with an elderly woman trying to price parts.

Order #: 179702753590 I ordered a fuel filter online BUT after waiting an extra 3 days, 5 days total, a brake caliper was delivered instead to my house. Robert M. at the store was very helpful and cut thru the Autozone red tape to allow me to simply return the caliper to the store and he got me the fuel filter in one day's time. Very frustrated with the online ordering and shipping process. Not sure I will use that again. this kind of thing has happened before.

I came in to purchase a battery for my vehicle yesterday. I worked with a gentleman named Jeffrey. His guest service was exceptional and above and beyond. He was kind, respectful, and extremely helpful. I requested an install and Jeffrey was happy to do so. My vehicle had bolts in funny places for my battery install. Jeffrey was patient and determined to help me. He grabbed all the tools to make it happen and successfully installed my new battery and disposed of the old one for me. Jeffrey was easy to talk to and fun to work with. He made this process smooth and easy and I was very happy with his service. Thank you!

I went to return a gas cap that I bought 5 days prior. The cashier inspected the cap and the receipt thoroughly then told me he can’t return it because the manager is not working today and for me to return it today I can go to a different location where the store manager maybe working. I said why would you need a big manager to return unused $20 gas cap? then he said it has a scratch, I challenged him to show the scratch but he couldn’t show it. Then I said if you don’t return it per your policy, then I will call my credit card and dispute it, then he said let me make a phone call, while I waited close to 10m, I saw a manager stocking some products. Then the cashier came back and said we will only return it this time. I said you have given me hell of hard time for no reason, I assure you I will never buy anything from your store so you don’t have to worry about me returning anything. I was told by another cashier this guy was a manager trainee. good luck to him he will need it!!!

Came here yesterday to get new head lights for my car, was serviced pretty quickly, but what really stood out was I saw John putting on wiper blades in the rain, and what I heard from the customer was that she didnt even buy the wipers from AutoZone. This showed that they really care about their customers. Will Definity be back and recommend to my friends and family.

Great service. My Honda Civic was showing engine light so I stopped at AutoZone at El Camino Real for diagnostic. Yes, they do run a free diagnostic for engine light. The associates were extremely friendly and welcoming. One associate took the scanner, ran on my car and gave me full report. All for no charge to me. Thank you AutoZone for your exemplary customer service. You are my store for all my auto part needs.

I am always able to find anything I need or special order it at AutoZone. The employees are always helpful and courteous. The only negative is when you call to inquire about a part and they are busy with customers expect to be a hold for a very long time. I would suggest going in and talking to them instead. I get it, when they are busy on the floor they can't get back to the phone as easy. I would give them 5 Stars if it wasn't for the long hold time on the phone. Please don't let the negative phone review deter you from doing business with AutoZone. THEY DO A GREAT JOB at helping you find what you need for your car.

It was a bit later in the evening when I walked in. No one seemed to be there to greet an incoming customer. Even after walking up to the counter, where I must've spend what seemed like half an eternity, ( probably a minute at the most), then a friendly young man did help finding touch up paint for the car. Unfortunately they where out of the color I needed, but we ended up, replacing it with an alternate, universal one instead of the color coded GM Black I originally hoped for. It worked out just fine. Another, second employee paid no mind, as one more evening "prospect for sales" person walked in, continuing on his smart phone. My sales guy helped him and I out. Did I mention how nice this primary employee was? My business was done. The store seemed a bit "lower" stocked on more often purchased items. But I think the secondary guy couldn't care much either way, as he was still heavyly engaged in a conversation of the personal kind, with his back to us, constantly laughing. But "my guy" at AutoZone was real helpful! Still like the place! So much variety , and pretty much everything you need for your vehicle. Clean store!

Went to get a new battery. I was still under warranty, so it should have been quick and simple. First, they pulled up my information. They pulled it up for the wrong car, I brought it to their attention, and they pulled up the correct car showing my battery was still under warranty. They went to check and told me they didn't sell those batteries anymore and I'd need to buy a different one. This battery is a basic, standard, popular Duralast battery still used in a majority of vehicles. I check online and they have it, but they insist it's not made anymore. I had to call another store AND the district manager and have several conversations between the three of us before the district manager was able to get the store manager to replace my battery. I spoke with the store manager to find out what happened and he said they were looking at the wrong car and, therefore, the wrong battery. When I informed him that I was standing there the entire time and that I had verified they pulled up the correct vehicle the second time, he just repeated himself. Ladies, do not go to this store, they WILL try to rip you off. I will not be returning.

Great service. . And the commercial and the regular service is top of the line. Many customers complain thinking they are the only ones important. They forgot they are not home!!! So they should have patience with Commercial and the people in the front . THANKS guys and ladies for the outstanding service. Also great service that Erik provided couple months ago.
